When someone tells you that, roll your eyes and tell them they obviously don't know anything about motorcycles. The Venture is clearly a wanna-be Indian.

If you can't find a lower pressure air pump, for greater accuracy, you might want to consider this. At least this way you'll be putting the same amount in each side.

I stand corrected. Doggles, they are. Looked 'em up. Pretty clever and highly useful, under the circumstances. Still a cute pic. In my mind's eye I'm seeing my sister on her V-Star 650 pulling her American Mastiff, Max around. Maybe this is really why she wants to get a Royal Star. Gonna take a full sized trailer for that boy, eh LilSis?

I found it listed here. I didn't buy it there, but that's the pump. Progressive makes (made?) several sizes. That's the lowest pressure version. I couldn't find it on their web site. I left a message asking Progressive about them, but haven't gotten a response yet. I'll update here when I get a response. I heard from Progressive. At this time the lowest they're selling is a 0-30, so for now whatever 0-15s are out there are it.

Ok, change the link without an edit line. You rascal. Makes all the difference in the world.

I don't know. At first I thought my grandson would like the electric blue ones with lights, but at $120? He's only three. They'll only fit for a month, two tops. I'm thinking it's gonna be Shoe Carnival for a while longer.

I have the Progressive version. Costs more, looks the same. There's also a 0-15. Looks like a large syringe with a gauge and hose. I have one for the front shocks. The lower pressure gauge makes it easier to match up sides more accurately.

Love the middle pic, with the goggles. Very cute.

Looks like Brian's already asked my big question so I'll just comment on the cruise control: works just like my car or the wife's truck. No problems to speak of. First off, I really only use it on the Interstates. Maybe on a large divided highway. Very rarely on a red road. Across South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma? Oh yeah! The twisties in the Rockies? Probably not. I set it just over prevailing cage speed (whatever that may be - 75-80 or so) then just go. Won't work under forty(ish) or over eighty five (un-speedohealed). Big hill? It might drop enough to cut out. Flat land? Set it and forget it. It does turn the throttle so I can mess it up by holding on too tightly when it's working. Because of that I tend to just grip the weight and leave the rest of my hand loose over the throttle itself.

Finally! A helmet for those who've always wondered what sort of shenanigans their passenger's up to...

I have one you can have. AM/FM. No load in the middle. Stock off of an '06. -
Lonna, it's great to hear that you and Brad are settling in. No doubt a very good feeling. :bighug:Irene and I are happy for you! I don't see how we can make it down this time. Irene can't get the time off (already in for KY, Maintenance Day, and Potato Creek) and I'm back in school through a combined Federal and State "displaced worker" program. Those guys cut even less slack than a job. Still, we'll be trying to figure something out for sometime!

When you write a message scroll down. Under "Additional Options" theres an area marked "Attach Files". Click on "Manage Attachments" that'll bring up a new window or tab (depending on browser). "Choose", find your pic on your computer, then "Upload".

Or you could just bend them a little. Saves drilling more holes.

I'd be very interested in wiring info. I was looking at that amp as a booster, but hadn't been able to get to it yet. Any details will be greatly appreciated.

Pretty good, considering. Thanks for asking. The odd discomforts are mostly gone, though I think they may have missed a small crack in my ankle. Nothing I'm gonna' mention to 'em, that's for sure. I only limp when I'm tired (I think), I can still ride, I'm ok with it for now. I don't want to say anything to hinder progress, but the idea of taking the metal back out creeps me out big-time. I held up a chicken leg and thought about what it would take to put metal where mine is. Then take it out? Until there's a really serious problem it's staying right where it is, wood screws and all. I suppose it all depends on how you're handling it being in there. That really sucks. I got pretty lucky - all the way 'round I suppose. I sure hope it works out for you sooner or later. Funny, I still get an occasional mental image of two old half-gimps standing under the awning of a shut down gas station during a rain storm, preaching the joy of motorcycling to a young guy who hadn't seen the dark side yet...

I had an '05 Midnight picked out from under me. Similar circumstances: crazy driver, 6 month old bike with 10k miles. Gone, perhaps. Forgotten? Never. I ordered an '06 Black Cherry from a rented hospital bed - crushed left leg. It took 'em almost five months to get it and put it together. That worked out about right. I showed up at the dealer, signed the papers, and gave 'em a check (uninsured/underinsured came through). I hobbled over, folded my cane and stowed it in a side bag, then rode her home. I didn't get to ride much in the first six months, but I've been trying to make up for it ever since. I have two pics of the Midnight (which for some reason I think of as male) on the cork board next to the computer. They're from a vacation Irene and I took to Door County, Wisconsin. Beautiful place. Wonderful ride. Gone, but never forgotten. You've seen the dark side of motorcycling. Your attitude is good. You'll get there. Gotta give those bones a little time to heal.

I got the 3 inch under (medium?) Clearview so I could see over it, with the vent for air flow. (Didn't even know about the F4 at the time.) What I find I notice the most is that the vent breaks the slight low pressure that develops behind the windshield/in front of me. There was a subtle forward pull that's just not there with the vent, even opened only one notch. Gotta have that vent!

When I got my '06 I got a spoiler and a Wagner grille cover. Since I wanted them painted to match I ordered a can of paint from the Yamaha dealer from whom I'd bought the bike. I went straight to the source, so to speak. When it arrived I pulled it out of the box. The can said ColorRite very dark red metallic #2 - ColorRite #5200. It's an exact match. I got a pint of pigment. A local body and paint shop supplied the rest of the chemicals and shot the paint. It was a perfect match and a beautiful job. ColorRite sells rattle cans too. I thought a moment about how good a job I usually do, then paid someone to do it for me. The grille? Maybe. The spoiler? Nope.

When I got my '06 I got a wing and a Wagner grille cover. Basically I paid ten bucks extra just to have the Yamaha dealer order it for me.

Only if the previous owner changed 'em when he installed the mufflers.

Deja vu anyone? Kevlar lined jeans, either Diamond Gusset or Draggin'. (I have a pair of Sliders from Competition Accessories, but I don't like the baggier style. The Diamond Gussets are my favorite.) During cool/cold weather I wear a touring leather jacket with vents and a "euro" type collar similar to this. (Not advocating the store, just showing the type jacket I have - same manufacturer, very similar style but in black.) When it's hot out I wear a kevlar Draggin' Shirt, usually over a t-shirt. On very hot days my wife, who also wears kevlar lined jeans and a Draggin' Shirt, and I soak the shirts down with water for evaporative cooling - like air conditioning for bike riders. Red Wing lace up safety toe boots. Leather gloves. HJC FS-15 Carbon full face helmet - Irene has a SyMax II. All the gear, all the time. Period. Shorts? Flip flops? Tank top? Not a chance. I like me way too much for that.

This kind (I was worried about the first two - newest tire - because of the second two - previous tire.):
