You can always go to one of the online parts lists, for example. Once you get to Yamaha/Motorcycle/year/Royal Star Venture it'll tell you the xvz13tf(whatever). But you won't really need it.

Tank panel or tie or tuxedo for RSTC?

It's for Lilsis' bike so I'll have her look at it. Thanks for the direction, I've certainly been at a loss. -

4wm-24500-02-00 $23.35 (plus any applicable taxes) Just replaced one on my sister's new (to her) '97 Royal Star Tour Classic. Different reason - copper tube the fuel hose connects to pulled out. Still... -
Gravity. It's not just a good idea. It's the law.

I was thinking Chuck (as in Please Don't Up-). Since it's supposed to keep the oil in the shock...

I'm not terribly concerned about mileage. As long as I am having a good time and don't run out of gas, I'm good. If I'da wanted mileage I'da gotten a scooter. However (all speed references are uncorrected at about 7% high): During the week I commute about twenty miles on urban interstate to, and then from. I often find myself running prevailing speed (70 to 75) in third. I then go ahead and shift to fourth. I like to keep it out of fifth to help me handle the requirements of rush hour traffic, sometimes dropping back to third. This seems to yield mid to low thirties mpg. When I'm going somewhere distant, fully loaded, I'll crank her up to around 80 or 85 using fifth, set the cruise, and just go. Mid to high thirties mpg, usually, though I once got 29 into a headwind across South Dakota. When I'm playing on red roads and twisties I don't generally wind up going over 45 or 50, and I seldom shift above third. I tend to ride a bit, um, spirited, shall we say. Mileage tends to run the highest, from high thirties to mid forties. Like Goose, I'm very happy with the gearing on this bike. It ain't a v-twin - for best results, turn it up! 2000 to 2500 is for parking lots, not cruising. It's good to have a tach. On the whine: Mine sounds a little like an angry sewing machine between 2500 and 3000 rpms. Not loud, but it's there. Simple solution: I keep it above 3000 rpms. I consider the whine to be the engine complaining that I'm being mean to it. I absolutely will not cruise below the whine. Changing to a 3" under stock Clearview windshield reduced the amount of whine I heard. And finally, screamstone, as previously mentioned, it's clutch spring time. Do a search, there's plenty of discussion.

Not sure which "that" you're referring to relative to the warranty, but I've never heard of anything knocking out the warranty. Maybe if you get a Dyna3000, turn it up all the way, then float a valve into a piston and don't change back to the stock box before handing it back to Yamaha , but short of that... I have read of individual dealers being a pain about some warranty items, but every time there's been a follow up that the poster took the bike to a different dealer and had no trouble at all. By the way, I put a Back Off module on my wing light. It's set to pattern flash as long as the brakes are on. It's mounted in the panel behind the passenger seat at the front of the trunk.

I have one, and like it very much. Lightweight, comfortable, and the red comes very close to matching Black Cherry. Being carbon fiber, which part matches and which contrasts slightly depends on the angle of the sun. Move, and the colors shift. I have gotten two replacement face shields, one dark, and one with a progressive shade that's dark at the top and clear at the bottom. I usually use the dark. The only problem I've found is that being full faced it sometimes steams up a bit inside. I'd like the face shield to have one more position, about a quarter of an inch open. I've found that on the progressive shade shield I can use the lock button to keep it open slightly. That doesn't work as well on the dark one. I didn't have any trouble installing J&M headsets in it, though I did get a new set (full face type) to replace my aging 3/4 one. I had a little trouble with the cord, but J&M was willing to cover it under warranty (I damaged it some flexing it while trying to get it to quit cutting out and was concerned about the wording of the warranty). I've had no problems with the replacement. All in all, I've very happy with mine.

It's good to hear they're charging the driver. Too many of them get off too lightly. Tell Dianne, congratulations on surviving something that could have gone much worth, and get well soon. Sounds like good emergency riding.

How about soaking it, putting it on, then letting it dry? Since it's leather shouldn't it stretch when wet then shrink to fit as it dries?

Fork Oil and Air Fork Balance Kit
Bummer replied to AmnChode's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have the balancing kit on mine, but I really don't know how to answer your question. I'm wondering how you got oil out of it in the first place, what with gravity and all. But hey, if it came out, it came out. I checked the shop manual - page 7-54 - and found it should hold 18.7 US quarts. Since I don't know where a fork tube would put 18 quarts I checked the liters part and found it listed at about half a liter. Must be that Japanese to English conversion problem again. Kind of like the description on syncing the carbs. Anyway, since a liter is about a quart, I'd say each fork tube should hold 'bout half a quart. So, since it sounds like it didn't make a puddle you are probably alright. You might want to plan on checking the level when a rainy weekend comes around. As to the little plastic part, I'm at a loss. I did a quick google of plastic tubing looking for fitting info, but came up empty. I'm considering buying another kit as a backup, but will keep looking for now. If I come up with anything, I'll post it. -
Great news! Get well soon, Earl.

For me it wasn't the time, it was the fact it was required.

Last I heard you had to drill out (enlarge) the holes the Utopia is bolted to. The Diamond R bolts on to the front of the passenger's seat with no drilling.

I know it feels good! (As I rub my leg where the pins used to be.) Congratulations! Now keep that thing in one piece so you don't have to do it again.

Now that sounds more like normal.

Back in about '72 the carrier I was on accidentally pumped several thousand gallons of oil over the side about a mile outside Athens harbor. The crew fighting the spill pumped chemicals on it that were supposed to bind with it and "neutralize" it. The mixture sank. Out of sight, out of mind. Then the tide went in and the stuff coated the beach. Very nasty. Everybody who wasn't "on the beach" for the weekend got to scrape the first half inch of sand off the entire Athens beach. Sometimes the magic doesn't work. Seems to me we're going to need all the ideas. Straw, hay, hair, and a fleet of boats with long hoses that can pump that stuff up and filter it out of the water it's mixed with.

Don't you actually have oil absorption media for sale? Or maybe advanced oil attractant. That's gotta be worth more than mere hay. As to the video itself: Sure looks impressive from here.
