  1. I'd say you're pretty close. The ratings in question are the results of answers given by people who clicked on the "Rate this bike" link. And that, my friends, is the most important point of all.
  2. All of which costs less to fix or replace for all four carbs than the price of one injector. Which has a coil that can go bad. And why do they sell injector cleaner? How much is a trip to the shop to hook it up to their computer so that it'll work at the top of the mountain you want to visit? I do not envy fuel injection.
  3. Does that mean Canada's really supposed to be spelled c eh n eh d eh, or is it really c n d, a? Er, I mean, eh?
  4. Just as a totally useless FYI, technically it's not really "duct" tape. The original was made for the Navy for use on boats. It was called "Duck" tape. The whole point was a strong, waterproof tape, for emergency repairs in a marine environment. There was also a strong assumption that the vessel would not survive to need proper repairs. The idea was to get the men in the boat to shore before the boat sank with the tape still attached. It was never intended for use on duct work. Not disagreeing with you guys at all. It's just that I saw a "bug show" that told the history of the stuff. Seems likely a carb sync would have been more appropriate. But that might just be me.
  5. I'll bet you know more of 'em than you realize, Annie. We're sorry you couldn't be there. At least we got to get our pictures taken with your and Quickstep's bears.
  6. Thanks Ian. It was great seeing you again, too.
  7. Thanks for doing this for the rest of us. I now know this is one thing I'd better not do.
  8. Hard to blame him. I didn't get a pic because of the crowd, but Freebird got parked in a chair, then Mini came running out of the crowd to splash him with a bucket full of - jacket.
  9. Get well soon!
  10. Some of the unindicted co-consipiritors.
  11. I have one. I like it. Yes, bugs get through. It gets soiled with bug innerds. It's not all that easy to clean. But, if I was doing it over again, I'd still get the vent. With the stock windshield I always felt like I was being pulled forward. I keep the vent one notch open and don't get that sensation. That alone sells the vent for me.
  12. Hey, it was a hot day. Pics from the gifting of the jacket.
  13. I have very little to say. Mine fell off on the way to a M&E in southern Indiana last year. And I knew to use a little blue loctite on the thing, I just hadn't gotten 'round to it yet. Luckily, thanks to VR.o, I knew which decorative attachment device to rob to fix the problem. BTW, don't forget to order the washer when you get the new bolt (which is a little different from the emergency replacement). I almost missed it when I was replacing mine.
  14. While the young lady is clearly talented I have a feeling that most Navigators won't understand.
  15. That explains the bounce I got from the email I sent Friday night. Another try is on its way.
  16. Glad you made it home ok. Better a close call than a direct lightening strike. Did the Warden get the grass mowed while you were gone?
  17. This was Irene and my first Maintenance Day. I can't begin to express how happy we are that we were finally able to make it. It was a wonderful time. Thank you, Don and Eileen.
  18. How's this for starters? (Embarrassing pics to follow.)
  19. Irene and I just got in. Thanks a million to Don and Eileen for a wonderful time! We were tickled to see old friends and make some new ones! Good to see the list of people making it home. That should continue for a while. (Bob, we were passing 58 at 8:30. Oh, and check your right side passing lamp. It's either pointed way out to the side, or out altogether. Don't forget the vinegar. I'm going after the bottle in a short minute, myself.)
  20. A few photos:
  21. Irene and I will be hitting Elyria around four or so. That should give us plenty of time to find our way around, so add us to the list. I'm guessing Mariner Fan will be there too. We're coming together, and we gotta eat somewhere.
  22. Sorry to hear it, Dan. Irene and I sure hope she gets better quick. Funny how the women folk always raise cain about us, but when it's their turn they are worse. Good luck on getting her to behave while she mends.
  23. Great pics. Thanks for posting!
  24. Ponch, Irene and I send our deepest condolences. We just lost my Mom last November, so we know it can be a rough time.
  25. 7.1 psi is the max front. 57 psi is the max rear. Anything higher risks blown seals. (No, no, it's just cake and icecream.) I run 5 front and around 50 rear most of the time. I found that with 0 in the front the shocks tended to bottom under hard braking. Since I never know when someone is going to do something deranged, I toughened up the fronts, and keep them there all the time. For the rear I usually suggest that people add up the total weight on the bike and then lop off the right number. For me that comes out to 20 to 25 solo, 50 to 55 two up. When I get home from a two up ride I usually forget to let any air out, so I wind up riding at the higher pressure in the rear. I don't mind, since I think the firmer ride handles better. If you're happy with 0 and 25, stick with it, though it might not hurt to try it a bit higher if for no other reason than to see what the options are. Who knows, you might find you like 5 and 50. And if you do add air to the fronts a Progressive crossover comes in real handy for balancing pressure.
