I only found out about that stuff just the other day. We do lots of truck and Farm tires here and you would not believe the rust and stuff on these tractors and trucks. A tractor mechanic told me about it and also told me since he started using it he hasnt stripped any studs which is a miracle with the state of the studs on some of these things. Im gonna have to check out the SaltX stuff too. Thanks Condor

Im trying a new product I had come across with the help of a buddy. Its called CorrosionX. I am currently trying it on my boat trailer.

Hey there. I had the Khrome werks as you know but I found them to be a little loud. Nice sound but I want some sound but not loud. I sold them to a fellow in texas and he really likes them. Different stuff for each. I put on the Slash Cut Road Kings and really love them with a little mods.

Use the bolts that came with the links. On the OE bolts you will find that the nuts to be very tough to work with as they have small wrench surfaces. Also use any grease you want just make sure its not water soluble so it dont wash away with a puddle. I personally use moly grease.

I been thinking of doing this for a while so put me down for a kit once Don gives the writeup. If youo are assembleing all the right stuff that saves me work and Im in just give me a total number and I will paypal you.

Right he is. Put some air in the forks and you will fix that. I suggest getting the Progressive suspension pump or get one at Harley (Same one but Cheaper at harley) so that you dont put too much in. Dont use a high pressure air hose.

Lots here run about 3-5 lbs in the front and about 25 or so in the rear. Also it is the Bridgestones on it? Not the first I have heard this. I personally would check the front bearing as stated in the tech section and change the front tire and se what happens. Maybe someone here has a tire for you to test. Its a little bit of work but if it solves it your on top.

"I" basket conclusion
Tartan Terror replied to labeldave's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Im quite sure that they know of the problem. The problem is that they arent willing ot spend the money to fix it properly or it may need a massive design change to do it. I think that they would just as soon cancel the bike rather than invest that much money to fix a problem that to them is just noise. I think it would be different if we were talking about trannies blowing rather than whine.- 48 replies

"I" basket conclusion
Tartan Terror replied to labeldave's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Here is a interesting though. I had my basket replaced and though it improved slightly it wasnt much. If the different basket moves the whine to a different range I wonder if by changing to the Vmax gears like Freebird is doing, will change or move the noise to a differnt area. One interesting thing asked is why dont the first gens have the whine. This may be it. the gearing is all different so maybe there is a whine but not in a rpm range that you stay in for long. Food for thought.- 48 replies

BEWARE!!! Squid did this to his 99 and after he got his parts back and installed it burned a whole lot of wire anl lost much riding time. I would wait till winter to try this in case the happens too. Perhaps Squid will jump in and update us on the situation -

Synthetic is fine as long as its Motorcycle specific. Regular car oil has friction modifiers which will cause your clutch to slip. Out clutches are wet clutches and are saturated with oil. Motorcycle specific oil (Dino and Synthetic) dont have friction modifiers in it and wont promote the clutch to slip. I will only use Synthetic as heat wont break it down so easy. I prefer Amsoil but I will also use the Spectro Golden 4 if Amsoil is not available.

I like the idea of the ECK MOD. Bet Vinny wishes he saw this on Saturday too. LOL -
Right you are! Unfortunately you cant just let the tire air out and just put nitogen in. The government gets involved with everything so in order to get the 99% nitrogen content into the tire you need to install the nitrogen in then pull it back out and reinstall. $10 isnt the cost of the materials. it covers the technicians time to do the process required to meet federal standards. And yes they do have a guage that can measure it we can be fined heavily if it is checked and dont meet the requirements.

on moss mirrors there is a small set screw on the bottom of the head where it attaches to the stem. If there is one a slight turn will give you a tighter head and stop it from rotating
-
You forgot about the high percentage of Methane after the chili!!!!
-
That is true but if you need to do that in an emergency it wont hurt anything. Actually to install the nitogen properly you need to suck out the regular air or you will only get 80% total nitrogen. The proper way to install is evacuate the tire with teh machine which reduces it to 3 lb and fill with nitrogen. Then do this a second time and you will end up with over 99%. If you have nitogen and air mixed it wont hurt the tire but yu will lose all the benefits of doing that. You cant just let the air out and fill with nitrogen or you will have mostly nitrogen and some air.
-
You bet they are. I put off buying one hoping this was just gonna be a fad but I guess its here and I have to adapt and survive.
-
Considering a machine to do it starts around 10,000 that is great. Most dealers charge $75 per car (All 4)
-
They say you cant fight City hall! The industry is moving toward Nitorgen filling of tires and Im gonna buy the machine for my Tire business. Even though for normal use I do think its kind of excessive there are a few benefits we can use here. Funny thing is a while ago I was against it but recently with new data Ive been kind of swayed in some cases. Nitrogen filling of tires will help us in one case. It expands and contracts far less than regular air so you tires will stay a more constant pressure on your bike. We know handling will vary by pressure this can help keep it more consistant. Nitrogen will also (If properly installed) contain less water then regular pump air so it will help reduce the corrosion of wheels on the inside. Also since its a larger molecule and also an inert gas your tires in most cases will hold their inflation better. Im not saying that you will not lose any air and you should still check it regularly but all these things can help us. If you get a leak or need to ad air on the road you can just mix it. Just when you get a chance purge the air and refill. To do a passenger tire right now the cost is in the area of $10 a tire Ill keep all you posted on how this goes.
