  1. You know I just saw this and will need to try this!! It would not suprise me as the Dealer who did the Clutch Basket also tried to make me think my brand new clutch at that point is bad. Would suprise me that they didnt do the job right. That was done at East End Motorsports They wont see this bike again. I got all the water pump parts and rebuilt it and sure enough it made little to no difference. I also went to a 15w40 oil like PCW suggested and that helped a little but not too much. I think I will be bringing it to the shop. LI Yamaha in Hicksville will be seeing the bike for the first time since it was new. Guy I spoke to on the phone seems sharp so we will see. For now I will ride it till they have space in the schedule for it. Wish me a good dealer experience!!
  2. You first Genners make the abuse so easy!!!
  3. Redneck as part of that kit you remove that connection and hard wire it by soldering the wires. That connection should be no longer on Ruffs bike.
  4. Wow this is an old thread dug up! All these parts were donated to the Venture parts bank. Eck is running this. I do not have any of these parts anymore.
  5. Just came up with great name for them though!!! The Jerusulem Cruiser- Hottest thing since Moses parted the Red Sea!!!
  6. Would be very appropriate is Jesus rode a MC as its is his style and He doesnt have to fear much but for me I think I will stick to my Boots!!!!
  7. You need to lift up but do it gently. Its easy to break the plastic but if you are patient you will have no problem.
  8. I ordered the Water pump parts today so once I get it back together and get a oil press gauge on it I will have a much clearer direction.
  9. I will know better when I give him the information he asked for and call him back. Not easy to diagnose on the phone. Its just great he was willing to spend the time and give a few things to chase. We will know soon. Im just making the point that he really didnt need to make himself that available to help me and the fact he did speaks volumes. Ill put the follow up information in the water pump thread.
  10. I just wanted to tell of a great experience here. Many of you know of my engine knocking issue and many of the bigger brains on this site are scratching their heads along with me. This morning I played a long shot and called PCW Racing and asked them the question. For those of you who have done clutches and read my article on this they are the supplier of the upgrade parts I recommend. Well I got John on the phone and was amazed with all the time he was willing to spend with me on the phone and trouble shoot and ask questions. I felt like I was wasting his time but he told me I could have as much as I needed and he really cared! Well I have some great ideas of what to check and what certain things mean. Basically he filled my head with knowledge that only experience brings and now I know what to look for! Thanks John again for you patience and willingness to help! Now the shameless plug. If anyone needs clutch stuff please call them. www.pcwracing.net Also for those who want a little more power they make all kinds fo stuff to get more out of out motors. Im really thinking of doing their 1500 kit on mine if it needs to come apart. He tells me that it will give me about 25% more torque and that is quite a kick in the butt. Check it out!
  11. Well I called John at PCW Racing and I will tell you they are awesome there. He recognized me and he literally spent a half hour on the phone with me so far on this and has given me great leads. Set my mind to ease on the lower end and told me how to check oil pressures and what to look for. He did suggest I may have an oil issue and that I should use a thicker oil. Not really thick but a little thicker. A 15W-50 Synthetic blend oil. He uses the Amsoil. I guess if you are building 200 hp Vmax's you should know a little about these. He doesnt think I have an water pump issue. He is gonna call me back shortly. If if does need to come apart you can bet I will make the trip upstate to bring it to him.
  12. First you know we need to ask!!! Second what was the old name? and third, Do you need a towel??
  13. Im ordering all the seals and bearings. No sense putting it back together with all the old stuff. Bearing feels ok. Im thinking that maybe the spring in the pump is loose and allows play. The diagram calls it a seal but it actally has a spring in and keeps tension on the impeller so that it doesnt flop. Maybe its weak enough that its flopping. Either way Im just guessing now so parts are on order and we will see. Could it be the starter or something else in there? Lets look at the bright side. If I have to take the motor apart to get to a rod knock or something then I think it may go up to PCW and get some real work. Maybe make it a 1500 V4.
  14. Thats what I am afraid of! How come I dont get this lucky when I play the lottery!!???
  15. Ok I pulled it all apart and it looked ok which leaves me perplexed. Only thing that I saw was that a snap ring that looked weak. I think it was in the groove on the shaft but if it wasnt it would allow for the impeller to hit against the cover. No marks on the inside of the cover or on the impeller. The gear in there is indeed plastic and it looked ok. As long as its apart Im gonna change the bearing and all the seals. I also plan to change the spring that keeps tension on it. Now I have no Idea. If I put it all back together and it still knocks then what? Can it be something else in that area that tranmits the noise out of the cover?
  16. And I bump your bump with a donation and challenge all the regulars to match my $50. St Judes was the charity we donated when my Mother passed a few years ago and giving makes me remember her. Great cause!!
  17. Sorry Bill I beg to differ on that. Kawi just built it. Honestly tell me that that the Voyager doesnt scream RSV. Only thing really different than the RSV is it is a Vtwin and that the fairing is frame mounted. Other than that it is very much alike. It was aimed to take on the Ultra and the RSV. Now that is just in the appearance area. EFI, Upgraded sound system and they even went after the old Chevy dash look. That is a direct idea copy from the RSV that uses a old car dash look. I think they felt that they were not gonna get the wing crowd so they went after the Ultra and RSV. Funny thing is that is the same thing that Yama did when they built the 2nd Gen after a few years of no bike in that catagory.
  18. I knew that!!!
  19. :grandpa:Oldtimers???
  20. That you get to pay $1000 more for and it is itself now just about obsolete. The Voyager has an Ipod hookup. Yamaha needs to look at this bike and get a wakeup call!!
  21. Diamond R sells them too. http://www.diamondraccessories.com/yamaha/proddisplay.php?name=15``%20Slimline%20LED%20Lightbar
  22. Nothing really makes them different. Only argument you can get is getting debris on the belt or maybe the belt breaking. Breaking is not likely as the belts are usually make of Kevlar or in the Voyagers case it is made of carbon fiber. Both extremly strong. As a matter of fact the Roadstar uses a drive belt so you cant say Yamaha is using a better design because they use both. Dont let the fact it uses a belt hold you back if you want it. We all know Yamaha missed a great opportunity here and will be sorry it did. Bet your not the only person looking hard at this bike!
  23. Hope thats not the issue with my engine (Water pump) knock dude. I actually listen to you!!
  24. Ok. Rip the Water pump off it is. I been looking at the diagram and its no big deal. I would try the Marvel except for one thing. It wont get into the water pump anyway. I checked all the area and it is loudest behind that cover. If it was deaper in the engine I would try that first but it almost literally feels like its right below the cover.
