Why spend over $150.00 when you can get nearly the same for less than $16.00 ??? See my post and pictures in this thread. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=34552 -

16K Mile maintenence...How Much?
frogmaster replied to Richb's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I would say if your bike is in the 5 yr warranty period you best have the Valves Checked @ 26,000 and if need be adjusted, otherwise any mechanical failure in engine will be blamed on that!!! Do not give them the opportunity window. My 2 cents. I too have a 2006, 660cc Yamaha Rhino RUV and same story... I can do all the Maintenance except check and if need be adjust the Valves. Yes the Valves did need adjusting . -
I might be able to join for N.W. Mich part and for sure can recommend some good routes From Manistee, MI to the Mighty MAC. See my cell# in my Profile. Charlie & Mimi

Mounting Luggage Rack?
frogmaster replied to craigatcsi's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Based on Physics and MSF it is best to have all added weight low and forward. Well cant get it very low and instructions say about 1" behind seat. Well I moved mine forward the full 1" just about touching seat maybe 1/16". What I did to make sure it was DEAD CENTER was to loop a string over the key and turn it to Noon position. Than I ran the string exactly over the STAR on seat back and over trunk inline with the trunk Key Hole, added some weight and let it hang. This gave me a "CENTER-LINE" on the Trunk. OOps forgot to mention place some wood under the kickstand so nearly straight upright. Follow instructions to the LETTER. DO NOT DRILL ALL 4 at once. Drill and mount the fronts holes then REMARK the Rear Holes using Painter Tape. My original markings were off by 3/8" to 1/4". frogmaster replied to frogmaster's topic in Watering Hole
You guys are the best Kbay... yep emailed Owen he did a nice job! SilvrT... yep he is getting it good the GF will make sure of that! Freebird... Thanks for the ballpark $$$ figure. -
OK I have this "Friend" who dropped his RSV 2008 BlackCherry over Raven and REALLY MESSED up his Fairing Scratched both colors and gouged the ABS and plastic Chrome Piece too. I know my "Friend" will not be calling his Insurance Co because he dropped it. I'm sure "Somebody" here has been in this boat before? What is this Mess-up gonna cost my "Friend"? My "Friend" has a sick feeling in his stomach he is so upset! PEPTOBIZMO (cherry flavor) guzzled.

I went to www.rammounts.com and was redirected to www.gpszone.com. after speaking to a representative to confirm which parts matched this is what I was sent. Holder needed was "Medium" 4" x 6" x 1.75" (This was base on my GPS Unit dimensions, yours might be larger or smaller). ZRMHOLAQ6 Medium Aqua Box, $42.07 Mount needed was for a 1" Handel Bar ZRMB149Z-202, $28.82 Shipping was UPS 3 days $10.42 The Medium Aqua Box came with 3 self adhesive anti vibration foam pads for different thicknesses that can be added or eliminated depending on the thickness differences of Holder Aqua Box and your GPS. I then used the "Clear Rubber" face cover that allowed user to use the "Touch Screen" of the gps. I had to drill a hole in the bottom to get the power cord into the Holder Aqua Box to power the GPS. I suspected the "Clear Rubber" face cover would be less than ideal so off I went on a test ride. Yes I was right the Clear Rubber face cover was a cleaver idea but the distortion was so bad I had to spent WAY TOO MUCH TIME NOT WATCHING THE ROAD!!! Secondly th GPS was bouncing off the bottom of the Aqua Box Holder (NOT GOOD)!!! This is where the MODIFICATIONS come in. 1). Added Velcro (hooks) to the anti vibration foam pad. 2). Expoxy Velcro (loops) the the back of GPS Unit (make sure not to cover the speaker). 3). Replaced the Clear Rubber face cover with a PLEXIGLAS cut out and used a small bead of silicon to seal it in place. Now I can quickly glance at the screen and get a VERY CLEAR PICTURE from GPS Screen and the VELCRO keeps the GPS Unit suspended and not bouncing around. YES I realize I gave up the ability to use the Soft Clear Rubber Face Cover but when I think about it I always SET the GPS then drive and never would try to make GPS changes while driving anyways. Here are the Pics: http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k249/frogmaster_2006/venture_gps_ram_mod004.jpg http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k249/frogmaster_2006/venture_gps_ram_mod003.jpg http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k249/frogmaster_2006/venture_gps_ram_mod002.jpg http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k249/frogmaster_2006/venture_gps_ram_mod005.jpg http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k249/frogmaster_2006/venture_gps_ram_mod006.jpg http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k249/frogmaster_2006/venture_gps_ram_mod001.jpg I would call this water resistant and NOT water proof. Enjoy

Agree maybe 50 vendors and I was there Saturday only. I would guess 3 to 4 thousand bikes and not 30 to 40 thousand as been posted on other sites. -
Yepper another HD Stealer rip-off. Should have done the MSF Course $25.00 per person

tall vs short windscreens
frogmaster replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Like the Show Chrome 4" shorter and wider is great for anticipated rain or "LOCAL RIDING (back roads and around town)" as long as speeds are below 60mph... Any duration of speed or distance over 60 mph then the STOCK or XXL Clearview is good for me at 5' 8" and passenger. Short Windshield + 60 mph + Distance + Time = Blurred vision from head buffeting and a headache soon to follow. That is my story and experience so far on RSV - 08 and I'm 5' 8" and 5' 1" passenger. Hope this info helps somebody.- 21 replies

Rear Shock Questions
frogmaster replied to GaThumper's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
$665 for Shock minus shipping.... say $650.00 for ONE (%$@#$F-in) Shock!!! That is ridiculously expensive. There has to be a suitable replacement on the face of this earth at 80% less cost. Sorry to do a (small thread Hijacking) but Daaaaannnnnggg $650.00 this is Bull Crap. Look for $16,500.00 you can get a MSRP 2009 RSV or for $16,500.00 you can buy 25 Shocks!!! -
YES YES YES and if 2 UP which I do 80% 2 UP. Told Passenger at a stop light it is her job to tap me when light is Green because I'm watching the Mirrors HOT & HEAVY. Don't get me wrong here, when I get tapped I do look up to make sure it is GREEN and then Left, right, left, right then go. 4 eyes are better than two specially at the STOP Lights.
