Down here in the states we dont trust stealerships any futher than we can throw em. Having said that, If you can get one to handle it great, but no one does it fast. If you don't get help consider contacting pinwallcycle.com parts in Ohio for the part. They salvage bikes and I have seen 99-2009's parted out. They give fast turnaround service and the prices are not bad. Hope you enjoy your trip.

A can of worms here! What do you like? Do you like loud pipes or medium loud pipes? ARe you looking for sound or appearance? The Bub's are great for a lot of people and are highly recommended as are a number of other pipes. IF you like your current pipes sounds why change? You could also go with RK pipes for a lot less money. You can usually pick up a set of RK pipes for about $20 +shipping. You could leave the as is or drill them out to 3 different levels to the nosie level you like. You could also consider a set of 4-2-4 nasty boys from Barrons if you want completely different sound and look. Barron's has several nice pipes for the Venture/RSTD and they all look good and sound good. Check out other members bikes and their mufflers before deciding. I have the 4-2-4 Nasty boys and love em. They can be wrapped to quiten them down or remove the baffling for a window rattling time. Plus I like the look. Here are what my 4-2-4's look like!

You can have a dealer check the database nationally to see if anyone has a 07 midnight sitting around then the dealer can have it shipped to his dealership. However, I would just look for a "used low mileage one" as that may be easier. OF course a "New" 07 would still have 5 yrs of warranty left but I doubt if you can get as good a deal. Just my Not sure I want to give $14k for the new one though.

Yup, NO one will take the care that you do about how to handle the parts off your bike but certainly a shop towel should have been down. I have a 99 that has few scratches and it aint gonna win no motorcycle shows but it still looks a lot better than most of the 99's I see. When I take a prt off I set it on a rug or carpet on the ground so that it don't get scratched. Just normal procedure as far as I am concerned. I certainly would not set someones metal part on a table or concrete wihout making sure something prevents if from being scratched. Tell the dealer to take a hike and that its posted locally about how they handle the bikes and what happened to you. Its your bike regardless of how old or valuable it is and they should make every effort to return it to you in exactly the same condition that they recieved it. If they handled new bikes that were being prepped for sale they would have to discount every one of them and lose money. There is a reason car shops have fender covers ( to prevent scratches) and have to pay for scratch removal. Now the real suprise will be when you get the bill and see how much he thinks his work is worth. Note that we call them stealerships....for a reason. Next time go to a maintenance day or ask somone on the site for help getting it ready for the season. that is how we help each other. Have a great day. Attached is a pic of the Antique car I gave up to start riding again. Miss it once in awhile....but not the cost of the gas of course. Also attached my pics of me and wife on my 99RSV.

To use the stand we use a Motorcycle lift that you slid under the bike from the side that has 2 arms that extenoutward. With the stand under the bike witout the legs the bike come straight up and it is very stable. I use mine even for washing my bike and cleaning my WWW tires. Being able to have the bike up and be very stable can be valuable as well as having the ability to work on items without bending over all the time. If you have a lift that your ride the bike up on you have a different kind of "lift". Ours you can get at Sears or where I got my "Harbor Freight Tools. I paid $59 for mine when I got it at Harbor Freight Tools on sale. I wouldnt work without it now. Just my

Ditto...Makes it easier to get to the battery etc. If your sitting on the seat where is it going to go. No one steals seats! Why go through the trouble of adding the nuts to it. Mine has been unbolted for over a year in the Houston area and I have never had an issue. Move on to worry about what bolts are now loose and need tightening. just my

Isn't it always funny the difference of the realities of what someone looks like versus what you thought they might look like before you actually met them. Anyway here is what me and my better half looks like.

Yep or go to ACE hardware and get them there. That's what I started doing after I paid for a few bolts at the sstealership.

Another Clutch Slipping
jburrell replied to craigatcsi's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I would try the dealer first after checking and making sure I wasn't using "energy conserving oil". If the dealer wants to charge you anything say NOPE and do it yourself. Ponch helped change mine out and the job takes about 30 minutes. If your metal disc aren't blued/worn you dont even need to sand them. Get the parts form our classifieds or PCW (both are same parts) classified parts are chaper for you. follow the directions from the Tech pages and if you have a problem call one of us on the VR assistance list or buy someone a six pack of beer and get some assistance with it. Its so easy a caveman can do.- 9 replies

Can you see the motorcycle. Check out the PICS one at a time The Honda crotch rocket rider was traveling at approximately 85 mph. The VW driver was talking on a cell phone when she pulled out from a side street, apparently not seeing the motorcycle. The riders reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident.. The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 20 feet from where the collision took place. All three involved (two in the car and the bike rider) were killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at the Motorcycle Fair by the Police and Road Safety Department. You have to remember they will pull out in front of you. Don't overdrive your brakes and lights

Hang in there I know its gotta hurt. Pleases stay by a phone just in case. I lost my gall-bladder and had to wait till Monday to go to DR. The DR , Emergency room, nurses etc kept telling me I shouldn't still be alive. Spend 3 days in intensive care after intense surgery to removed the gangrene from inside my abdomen. So from that you can ascertain it ain't nothing to mess with. It gets really nasty.MY surgeon and my local pharmacy still point me out as the guy who shoudn't have lived. Guess I'm blessed. We'll pray that everthing goes OK for you. James

Massey, I have 3 of these in my toolbox if you need one you are welcome to it. I had an issue with mine and I wend ahead and changed all of them. james -
It depends on your bike and how the barke fluid looks. If I was new to the bike I would use a vacuum and remove all the old fluid and replace it with new and add bleeders while I was at it. In doing this you can bleed out your rear brake and make sure you have good fluid at the same time. Speed bleeders can be added for the next pad change/bleedoff. I am adding speed bleeders next week to the front of mine and this is exactly what I will do. Cmpleted the rear brakes last weekend. You can't beat speed bleeders.

When you take it in and they ask if its homemade say "Yep built in in my garage from scraps." You should see what I could do if I had manufactured parts. Remember these are goberment folks and deal with so many people they no longer care what you say as long as they ask and you answer. Just fill out the forms and turn em in. I know I would without a second thought.

I need clutch help...
jburrell replied to a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Well, Let me jump in here since I had the exact same problem. I rebuilt the slave cylinder and still had to have the master cylinder rebuilt. You say you had the bike at the stealership. Did they change the oil? If they changed the oil and used the wrong kind you rclutch will constantly slip( even if you rebuild the spring and add the new full plate) due to the modifiers that are in the oil. find out exactly what oil they used. Most likely they used the correct oil but then again it is a stealership and most don't know much about the Ventures. If they did change the oil. I would drain the oil and change it again. Lots easier than the clutch rebuild and less costly. You could even save the oil you are taking out in case that's not the issue. There has been a lot posted here about the clutch suddenly slipping after oil changes and its always a problem with the oil. Did the stealership change the oil? Did it change from std to synthetic? If so this may point to your issue. If the slave engages and disengages the clutch then its most likely not that part of the system and clutches don't suddenly just start slipping unless you are ripping it every shift. Now, I would really consider all that has happened and based on what you have said about it coming from PO to dealer. I would lean toward the oil being the culprit. Did they change the oil as well and the clutch slave fluids? Also, Why in the world would they change the clutch fulids without being asked? On the cheap, you can just add a second spring to resolve the slippage if its not an oil related issue. You just remove the cover and you will see the circular spring in the center of the clutch housing. Its so simple a Cave man can do it. Just my 2:2cents: James
