My wife is from S Arkansas and has made our family this for breakfast countless times in the last 39 years. Most don't know what their missing if they dont try this for breakfast in the fall and winter. MY 2 sons 37/36 YO and my grandson think it is a must when they come back to visit and my wife (LYNN) never lets em down. How about Tomato gravy and biscuits??? We get that ocassionally too although my wife and son like it I favor the choclate gravy. Have a great ay all

2002 RSV fork lowering
jburrell replied to guidotheguide's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You don't need a kit. You can just adj the front forks to a lower position. There is likely a tech article here on this site. I haven't lowered mine yet as I was waiting for winter to do it. Gunboat mentioned that I could do it without a kit and that he knew how to accomplish it and offered to help me. Its great when you have other members in the area that are willing to share their knowledge and lend assistance. If you can't find the article then check with freebird or squigly for the article. If that fails I am sure someone here will help explain it to you or show you how to find it. If nothing else I am sure Gunboat will take the time to explain the procedure. Good luck with it. -
If members have Vonage or one of the VOIP phone systems they can call for free. I have vonage and therefore have unlimited calling. I am taking a long ride to the lake with a local group tomorrow I will try to create a short video and offer it up. I would also like to make some on repairs/upgrades I make this winter such as adding the CD player, adding more lights to the trunk etc and Freebirds switch bypass fix.(which by the way is keeping my bike running). I think this podcast idea is great and I if there is some way I can help let me know.

Get some cork and cut it to fit and then get liquid plastic to coat it. You can use the liquid available at a paint store that they use to cover tool handles. Just my 2 cents

The frame is the same as the 1100. Now having said that, some use Hockey Pucks while some also buy a "adapter" that goes under the RSV in place of the center stand. While using this "adapter", the bike is held in place and is steady and well supported. There is a person on this site "carbon one" who sells this type of adapter and you can ad adapter on EBAY. Check the classifieds on this site for "carbon ones" adapter and the info on the forums for info on how well it works.

Heart stopping moments...
jburrell replied to Owen's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Glad to hear you are ok. Good job of getting it out of traffic. Which Avons did you get and how does it ride different. I am considering Avons for my next tires. I am adding Rideon to current tires in the hope I dont have to go through what you just experienced. Have a great week/end -
Well they have great lights across the back under the trunk and they apparently visit this site as they used the narrow tires 130's on the front of the bike and the wide tires on the back. They added the fuel injection we wanted and they also added the ipod/sirus connections and the electronic CC. Got most of what we have been saying we want except for v-twin and belt drive. I must admit that I will test drive one if given the opportunity. 103 CC engine sounds like it may be fun bike. Lvoe my 99 though so the test ride will ahve to be remarkable to convince me to spend more on another bike when the 2 gen is soooo smoooth. Also no pricing yet. just my 2 cents worth.

Well, Now that the RSV is running good I can focuson whats improtant. MORE CHROME!!! LOL. I like pretty chrome. I recently saw a breather conver that had the American Eagle on it but I couldn't find out where it came from and now I have found another picture of a cover and hoping that someone can point me to some sellers of these items. I am going to try to attach the pic I have of the last one I saw. If anyone knows of any seller let me know by pm please. It will be appreciated.

engine shuts down
jburrell replied to thumper1's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Does the switch seem to work? I had a similar issue with my bike. I would go down the road and it would just quit or I would stop somewhere and it would not turn on. I would turn the key but nothng turned on. No speedo, no fule gage, the fule pump would not sping up etc. This happened several times. If this is what you are seeing it is common with the switches. There is a workaround for it howerver. There is a entry on this site about repairing and replacing the switch as well as the work around. In my case I took my seat and tank off. Under the tack you will see 2 sets of wires going to the switch. As the doc says you can tap into the left set of wires (check doc for which wires this is). I took some wire and connected to these 2 wires just behind where they went into the coupling and ran both wires to just behind my battery and added a switch there. Now without the key I can use this switch to turn on my engine and everything works as its supposed to. Use this as an aux switch only. I have not had a re-occurence of my issue but I did test it out before I set it up. For a quick test unhook the connector--then run a jumper across the 2 wires but inserting one end on your wire in one hole and then the other hole (female side of connector). YOU will see the speedo etc start to work. Now with this setup you can just use this if you system shuts down due to the switch. I have mind directly under my seat directly behind the battery and I can reach down and deploy it if needed. It appears that the switches get hot and decide to quit ocassionally. Here is freebirds post on how to fix http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=512 -
I you want to ride the 3 sisters and enjoy the area too you can camp at a number of spots along the river in Bandera TX and Median Tx. Both of these towns have numerous bike rallys. Kerrville and Freidricksburg are great rides and great little towns to visit and or try a B&B. During the fall you can visit "Lost Maples Park" and see the leaves change and visit the river. If your in the Houston area you can ride in Montogmenry TX wiith a few twistie there out 1097 and more out toward Navasota as well as rides to aand around Teledo lake as well as a nice ride to Tyler/Longview/Henderson in NE Texas. Of course you can ride down to Galveston and across to Sabine Pass although its not viewed as a great ride like 3 sisters or Navasota. Any place near north of Austin will be in the Hill Country and a great ride. IF you like long rides to West Texas you can go to Big Bend and see the Mountains and canyons. Rememer Texas in over 900miles each way to get across so plan accordingly. WE have the Lone Star Rally coming up the end of Oct in Galveston and there will be approx 600k bikers in town that weekend. They come from all over the world to see this event. Just my 2 cents worth.

Glad to here you are all ok guys n gals. I am in San Antonio due to the requirements of my job to maintain the oil and gas pipeline. My wife and grown son are at my house on Northside and are all well and the house has no damage. My fence and yard has damage but, that was to be expected. I have another house in Srping Tx but, the storm is jut leaving that area so I don't know how it fared yet and my son live in it and he is anxious to check it out but I told him to wait until Sunday to try to get there. Looks like I will be back perhaps Monday. My office/datacenter has 27 windows out and damage to building so I guess we rebuild my office. I wish all those northe east of us well as the storm progresses. jburrell

2000 miles from home, low clutch hydraulic pressure
jburrell replied to OutKast's topic in Watering Hole
Glad you got yours going. this can be quite frustrating. I lost all my clutch one day and gunboat and I worked for hours trying to bleed it out. When we rebuilt the slave due to continuing issues, we bought a vacuum bleeder kit from Harbor Freight tools ($18)to handle the bleeding. With the tool you can bleed in minutes versus hours on the 2 gen ( or letting it sit overnight with clutch handle taped in). There was tons of air in my line and that is why it takes so long to bleed the line as you can't get the handle to push enough of the air out of the line down to the bleeder. Teh quick tools take the frustration out of the job and get you going quicker. by the way if you need to rebuild the slave all you need is the 2 rubber pieces and the 2 copper washers and 1 gasket for the drive cover. Wish I could go to the Grand Canyon on mine but Hosuton is just too far from there for me. Heck its almost 900 miles to El-Paso. -
Hope you son was alright in the crash. IF you have space ask the adj what you can buy the bike back for salvage. A friend got his back for $200 although it was a HD. He was able to get it going again as the scars were on the outside and he just changed out those itmes. As you well know there is a good market for the parts!!!

Last week I went to east Texas and hit a lot of love bugs. I took someone advice and took a towel and wet it down. I took the wet towel and laid it over my windshield and in a couple of hours I was able to just pull it off and all the bugs came with it. The towell cleaned my windshield perfectly. This will work for all the fairing etc too. Forget the PAM. Just remove them later. Paper towels on the fairing and headlight should work fine too. jb

My new ClearView Windshild
jburrell replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Glad you got your finally. I love the way mine rides and looks now. I ordered a "blem" and got it in 6 days. I cant find the blem though. Saved $35. Just one problem. The "film" they protect it with covered the entire window and in the area of the vent I could not get it all to peel off and now I have a small torn piece of this plastic film in there just above the vent. The window tilts back so much I cannot get a finger down in there to get the 1 inch x 1/4 torn piece of plastic out. Can I take the vent out to remove this? How does it come apart? thanks jb -
Anyone going to this in October? (halloween 3 day event) I am going to go since I am only 60 miles away but, would like to have others company along, especially anyone who has attended before. There will be some really good stuff to see since it includes a costume parade and pretty gals showing off chaps n thongs etc. You will see every kind of bike imaginable. Dealers will have new models availble to show and test. Vendors galore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seems there will be about 400k bikers in Galveston that weekend. We can meet up really early and ride in Sat or, plan ahead and still try to find a room in Glaveston. Moody Park will have events including the Beach Boys Concert. Ride on the beach and ride down the strand, eat good fresh seafood. My Grandmother lived there for years, 200 yards from where the flagship hotel is/was now. That Pier was an amusment park back then Here is the info http://www.lightningcustoms.com/galvestonbikerally.html Feel free to PM me if you want info about Galveston area etc., or you want to get together that weekend. Here is a page from last years notes in Houston the party is ON in Galveston! It is time for the Lone Star Rally, one of the largest AMA sanctioned events anywhere. Where to start? There will be a humongous amount of activities going on, and stuff. We'll highlight a few and let you bang the link to the website for the full list. First, there will be the Leather and Lace Ball and Halloween Costume Party at the Convention Center on Friday night. There is an Amateur Mixed Martial Arts fight card. A Swimwear Fashion Show and Ms. Lone Star Rally Contest. Saturday, part of the Lady Riders Conference is a special ride to raise money for the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation. More of the Mixed Martial Arts fight card Saturday night in the Convention Center. Over 400 vendors are expected and there will be three stages hosting live music during the weekend. Most of the events are free, or have a minimal cost associated with them. The Island anticipates about 600,000 people plus their bikes over the weekend. WOW! Like we said, bang the link for the most recent activities list jb :cool10::cool10:

I am a ne rider too with a 99RSV and I thougth turning would be difficult but as I got more experienced and reviewed the RLAP video and learned to ride correclty it got a lot easier to make those difficult turns. Having the correct tire and shock air pressures is important too and should be checked regularly. Have fun and be safe. Practice practice practice. Thanks what empry parking lots are for anyway. jb:thumbsup2:

My wife of 39 years decided this week that it was time to go riding with me again and bought a helmet yesterday. Today I took her on a 3 hr ride out to the lake and twisties and stopped off to eat lunch. She says she enjoyed the ride and had a good time but was suprised how well the bike rode with us both. Personally I was not sure about this ride since I've only had the bike about a month and haven't ridden since 83. I was unsure how the bike would handle 2 up and if I was up to it considering all the chatter I have heard about this bike being "top heavy". To me other than the stop lights I think the bike handled better with my wife on it. Curves and slow turns were no problem 2 up. I believe I now have that back seat filled which is why I chose the RSV in the first place. WE are taking a trip next weekend and I am taking the bike so we can ride in the area. MY wife has already agreed to take a trip to Bandera TX from Houston (about 300 miles) for a weekend trip. Bandera is in the Texas Hill country and has a lot of twisties and great riding as well as an area called Lost Maples which is real nice in the fall. If your a newbie and considering a bike to do 2 up you cant miss with this bike. have a great day all jb :2cents::2cents:

Clutch slave rebuild
jburrell replied to jburrell's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks to Gunboat (and all responders on this site) we have completed a rebuild of my clutch slave. Pergscaper was right you can get to the clutch slave by just removeing the back coner (middle gear) and this allows you access to the bolts of the clutch slave. If you then take the wire ties off some wires that are in your exit path you can move the wires down and wiggle the slave clutch out. There are 2 botsl that hold it in and of course you have to remove the banjp bolt. One note on putting back the slave you may find you have a problem getting the banjo bolt to realign properly. IF so look under the bike and make sure the cluch cable is running in the guide provided for it and suddenly the bolt will align. We found this out the hard way. The bolt would start in and then act like it was crossthreaded. Once we aligned the cable correctly underneath the bolt slid right in place. We then use a power bleeded tool to bleed the system and was done in not time. WEll a couple of hours..not bad for a first timer. Again I thank you all for your replies comments and assistance and I especially thank Gunboat for taking time from his day to help. Now the clutch is fixed the switch issues is addressed and and I have a new Cleaview windshield.Got my radio set to a station I like and now I just need the time to add the new RK mufflers. First things first though.. Gotta ride this this thing the next 2 weeks and one trip is to Bandera Tx to the Three Sisters (THREE NICE TURNS IN THE HILL COUNTRY). The local starrider group is have a gathering there in 2 weeks so I am gonna do my best to make it. WoooHoo My wife has agreed to ride with me and bought a new helmet and she mentioned she wished we had a TRIKE. Told her we could make that happen. More on that later though. Thanks again everyone jb :dancefool: -
If the bike is not crashed it should be worth about $12k judging by ebay. If it is a Venture. If it is rstd then quite a bit less but not $8k range. just my opinion since a 99 RSC sells for about $7k good luck on this purchase! Can I have his number lol JB

Ponch I have the old bolt but there is nothi ng to firm it up against. IN other words the bolt will not pull down on the clip and hold it in place. I guess I will pick up a washer and see what I can do from there. Come over sat morning if you have a chance. Call me for direcions. I am 1 block S of SC and 1 block w of Eldridge. thanks jb

I put in the clearview and when I went to install the chrome piece in sits in there fine but on the l side the hole is bigger than the bolt that came out. The backing is gone from inside the hole and originally I dropped the bolt inside and had to retrieve it.The r side is fine so the chrome piece is up there but I am afraid to leave it with one bolt as I believe a wind may yank it off. I guess I could get a slightly longer bolt and use a washer but I think that would be unsightly. Any suggestions??? All ideas welcome. I am sure I am not the first to have to face this!! Thanks jb
