Dave, How about we meet at the Baybrook mall at the BayArea Blvd Exit. (Hooters would be a good point as its right on the service road) Any where along there should be good depending on timing.Road is gonna be slammed all day anyway so the determining factor will be what time we get there. We ahve to remember that there is a lot of groups that will be meeting all over Houston for group and escorted rides down to Galveston. Most that I have seen are going to meet at 8 amd 9am and then leave Houston with the biggest from Stubbs Cycle on i45 S that usually has up to a thousand riders ( I'm told that havent seen it). It would be good to be there as early as possible as to beat some of the traffic and get ahead in getting parking once we get there. What time do you want to meet there Saturday Morning? If you have questions or wanna talk just drop me a ring. James

I got all my leather items from leatherup.com. Fine quality ar bargin prices. I was worried about quality/fit and the original item was wrong size and they immeadiately helped me get the right sixe. I bought 2 leather coats 1 vest and chaps and they are are great quality and if you go check their prices you will be amazed at the cost savings. As far as wearing a leather vest I got one with laces on the size so that I could adjust fit. Chaps have to be trimmed for leg length and can then be left uncuffed. Riding in a vest in 106 degree heat here is Texas is not fun but...the leather will keeep the sun off your body and there for cool you more that not wearing one. Just my 2 cents

Congrats on the new ride. You will love it as I do mine. Just as a side. You do know you can have the bike shipped for less than $600 possibly less than you travel cost. Just a thought.

I have to admit I could not enjoy my bike as much without this site and the site has provided me with friends and assistance that I consider invaluable. However, having said that, I am not sure knowing how many members pay their membership is germain to my membership. If you enjoy reading/posting and benefiting from the site "Pay the membership fee" If you just ocassionally puruse the site and don't ride a Venture etc. then don't. If you do have a Venture or, RSTD and haven't become a supporting member, then you are losing out on the many benefits of being a member. Supporting members have helped me with numerous issues on my bike several times as well as becoming friends that I can ride with ocassionally. This site and its "members", has save me hundreds of dollars in repairs by assisting me with issues and helping me avoid the pitfalls that ocassionally hit us. (buying the wrong thing etc) This week alone with the assistance of Ponch, I was able to upgrade my clutch spring and thereby avoided having to pay the "stealership" to do it. Do I care how mamy paying members we have. NO, not unless the site starts to disappear which doesn't seem to be something that will happen because there are too many members who support and contribute and offer info and assistance thru the site. To all those of you who contribute and assist others. I thank you. Ponch I also thank you for your assistance. Freebird...We all thank you and hope you are doing Ok.

Dave, Sounds good. We can meet at first exit past bw8 on 45 s. LEt me know what time to get there. Remember there is going to be numerous rides from Houston involving hundreds to thousands of bikes heading down there Sat morning but most will depart Houst after 9am and are escorted. I would like to be ahead of them if possible. My number is in VRAssistance. Lets talk during the day on the 30th. I have a party to attend that night. Can't wait to see it all.

Let me know where you want to meet and we can ride down together! Is the seawall worthy. Depends! Do you want to see water or the beach? The seawall is what holds the Gulf back from flooding all of Galveston at times. Long ago there were gun turrents along the wall to protect us from invaders and the seawall was where you went to see the BABES ON THE BEACH!!!! No you can skip it! The party will be on the Strand this time. James

But when they say" Now when folks see you ride by their going to say nice looking Fat Boy :whistling:" is it the bike or you their talking about? Ditto Brad. Also, Congrats I do have the room if you need it. Hope to see ya soon. Be careful coming down. James

Well its almost time for the Lone Star Rally in Galveston Tx. Its Halloween weekend as always. I was wondering who is interested in going. I am leaving early Sat morning to head down to Galveston and have a room reserved on the SeaWall for Sat night. Anyone interested in meeting up and riding down there together? My room is at the Best Western and I will have a spare bed if anyone decides they want to stay the night. I hear that past crowds for this event has been up to 400k people :wow:with every kind of bike imaginable and tons of things to look at and do. Let me know if you want to meet up and head down there. :hurts:

I have a Blackberry Bold and I bought a mount from "the Mountguys" on the web. It was a fairly inexpensive way to mount the BB to listen to my music. However, after about 30 days I noticed a crack in the back of the mount and within another month the crack was all the way across the mount and it broke in half. I contacted the Mount Guys and they denied ever having a problem with them but, replaced the head (holder part) anyway. Well another 45 days later and I have a large crack across the back of my newest holder. I contacted the Mountguys and they informed me that they still have had no issues from anyone else on this mount and would not be replacing it again in spite of the fact that both item failed in exactly the same place and manner. Those of you who know me know that my 99 is well kept and in fact, still looks almost new and I take good care of it so the part was not abused. I am now going to find another supplier for some type of mount to hold my BB as, I have already run the cable back into the fairing and cleaned up the look etc. I won't buy again from this provider. Anyone have suggestions for a BB mount on the handlebars? boo www.mountguys.com :sign **** happens:

My exact thoughts and EXACTLY what I would have done as well as sitting there until the light had almost changed. Remember there are lots of xxxxxx out there but don't let them annoy you. If you do they win. Life is too short for the little things. my

Had the same problem with my 99 when i first got it, if I took my hands off the handlebars. I thought I had a steering head issue but, decided to wait tilll I learned more and tried some new tires. I have new tires now and the wobble is gone. I can go straight down the road with no hands on the handle bars with absolutely no wobble. However, If I am sitting too far left the bike will move left and if I lean just a little right, the bike will straighten out. So as the guys said. Change the tire, sit up straighter or, adjust the way you sit and you will resolve your issue.

What he said! Also, Ponch and Squidley, thanks for the offer. I dont mind doing the work. I may not be as smart as a Caveman so, I always like an out. I have the procedure from this site and the Venturers but have never seen the clutch out. I just want to get it done before we go to Big Bend and make sure I dont have any issued during the 1400 or so miles we will travel. We can get together in a couple of weeks and do this and perhaps we can get some video of it. Once I have done it my self I can start helping others too and add it to next years maintenance day activities. thanks guys

Just ordered the upgrade kit from PCW and it seems someone else in the Tomball, Tx area just ordered it too( occording to John at PCW). I would like to assist, if someone wants to give me a holler when they start their upgrade. I would like to see one done before I tackle doing mine. I should be doing mine in about 2 weeks and obviouly was hoping to find someone locally that has done the change and can supervise the change with me since I have never done it. I just want someone over my shoulder on some of the work. thanks

should the gas cap and tank get hot?
jburrell replied to jdzimme's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I would drive it awhile then take off the switch cover and check the switch to see how hot it is. The swictch has power to lights etc going through it and may be heating up and causing your issue. my:2cents: -
should the gas cap and tank get hot?
jburrell replied to jdzimme's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
No it should not be HOT!!. Take it back to the dealer after riding with the tank hot and have someone arrive just ahead to see if you can get them to feel the tank as soon as you arrive. Perhaps you can also get a thermometer and touch it to the tank and take a picture of the readings. If you have a continuing issue let the dealer work it out.You may have an electrical issue or perhaps some type of heat transfer issue from engine. MY 99 never gets hot. I rode 345 miles one day in 106% (thatss Texas in the summer)heat to get home and I never had a hot tank. My:2cents: -
Squidley, Give us a holler if you need us and we'll be glad to come assist and take a gander at all your stuff. LOL We'll all have to get you set us so you can start to learn how to ride during the winter!!!

Come on down here and enjoy year round riding. Don't forget we have a ride to Big Bend coming up. What part of Texas are you moving to? Its a big state. 900+ miles border to border. As a matter of fact El Paso is closer to California than it is to Houston. Give us all a call when you get settled in and we will show you where we ride. Lonestar Rally coming up next month in Galveston and attendance used to be 400k but IKE slowed it down a little.

Not a bad priice but remember it says it has a number of scratches from Po dropping it several times. I paid $5500 for mine a year ago and its pristine.

If you want a slightly louder muffler you can drill out your original pipes, installl RKing slip on's or try one of the may aftermarket mufflers out there like BUBS/ Barons etc. I have a set of RK complete with the needed mounting brackets that I will let go for $60. The brackets are $40 on this site. I originally drilled out my original pipes and they sounded good then tried the RK pipes and that was better. Now I have the Baron's Nasty Boy 4-2-4's with SCalloped Tips.and they are exactly what I wanted so I have a set of original drilled out pipes and the RK sitting in the garage gathering dust. Everything depends on what look/sound you are looking for.
