Even though stock sheild works well. I purchased a sheild by Clearview. It is 4" wider including lowers and also lower, I can see over the sheild. I also ordered a vent. It works great. Check them out.- 10 replies

Smaller side stand after lowering
veep1 replied to Motorcyclinmama's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Amy, I had the same issue. A good welder can cut a 1-1/4" section out at the foot. He can use stainless welding material and it will be a lot cheaper. The chrome will discolor a bit but does not look bad. I buffed it out and sprayed it with a clear topcoat. -
Have not done it yet but want to know how much force needed to seperate existing OEM mufflers from the header pipes. Bike is only a year old. Is there a gasket and should I reuse existing . Using BUB Sleepers Mufflers. Pipes will be here in a couple of days.

Muffler modification
veep1 replied to veep1's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Thanks for everyone's imput. I completed the modification. Sounds a little better. Probably will buy some BUBS when I can afford it. -
I've read here about modifying stock pipes to get a little more sound by drilling the pipes and If you do, does it alter the performance? Looking for that Thread showing what to do. Thanks

Took bike to the Dealer with the Honda Moly 60 and The clicking is gone. I explained why I wanted to use the Moly 60 was because I learned about it on this Site, he was interested.

My 2006 RSTD recently developed a clicking sound at approx. 4000 miles. I first noticed it when backing bike out of garage with the engine off. When slowing down for a stop I noticed it again. It appears to be coming from the rear of the bike, but it does not sound like a dragging pad. I checked gear oil, and it was full. Anyone have the same noise. Missed a beautiful weekend because of concern of doing damage. I did install a Barons rear lowering kit when I first got the bike, but I checked and everything is tight.

I'm investigating new mufflers and it is between the BUBS sleepers or the KhromeWerks slip ons. I don't seem to run into other Royal Stars that have made the switch to compare. Does anyone know a site or sites that have the sounds? Also, Anyone that has experience with both, regarding quality.

Is the chirp a warranty item? From what I have read here It seems that it can sometimes be solved, but not always. Is it a transmission or engine noise?

I Lowered the rear of my bike using the Baron's kit and it did make a difference on my seat height and at higher speeds the bike handles good, but I noticed at slow speeds, the bike gets swirly. My question is, has anyone lowered the front too and if you did, was slow speed handling better? Also, with the rear lowering kit I have to be careful where I park to make sure the bike does not fall over. I'm sure by lowering the front too I will have to modify the sidestand. Please advise.
