  1. 86-93 trunk mount. Nothing wrong with mine, just want one to modify
  2. Been following your plight with this, and frankly I'm surprised at the lack of info offered to you here. I rode to work today and with your post on my mind I did some roll on tests too, all were done in 5th gear, 2k rpm start, there was a bit of jerk-jerk almost like you could feel the cylinders firing. Leveled off at 3500, roll on again and it was smooth as silk to 4500. leveled off again, hit it from there, smooth as silk to 6k. That is when I realized I missed my exit so I slowed down considerably. If it doesn't rain I'll do some more testing for you(wink-wink). There may be a bit of difference because mine is an 86 but basically it is the same engine. I'm thinking that next opportunity you get that maybe you should do a compression test and see if all is even in the holes.
  3. Thats what my Kawasaki manual says for aiming the headlight on my Vulcan. Ky also says the same thing, 2" down measured at the center of the beam at 25'
  4. You had power(voltage), are you sure you had a ground on the power wire also? Probe the inner barrel to the outer barrel with a test light. What do you have? Are you sure the center is positive?
  5. Unless it has changed the Parkway is closed for a stretch above Boone, and near Linville Viaduct, and then from Little Switzerland all the way to Asheville. You can still go to Mt. Mitchell but you have to come right back out the same way, no passage to the south from there.
  6. On a bike with footboards it is tougher but get up on your feet a little and put at least 50% of your weight on the pegs/floor boards, that will allow you to let the bike wobble around under you easier than trying to stay upright on the saddle. If 2 up, person #2 should remain seated until the ride comes to a complete stop. Up on the pegs is how the trials guys are capable up riding up obstacles you cannot even walk up. Watch an off road race, a TT or a scramble, you'll see those guys use the seat for sitting still, not riding.
  7. That aint the rider in the shorts, look again you can see him on the other side of the guy with the legs.
  8. Check oil in rear differential? SOunds like it may be low or dry
  9. So, where is the US version? Haven't heard anything of it for a couple weeks:puzzled:
  10. I can't even find them on my 86. Are they hidden under the solder slug like all of the newer bikes?
  11. It would cost about twice that to build it, if you did the welding yourself. i would jump on it if I were in the market for another trailer. $285 is a great price for an assembled light duty trailer, providing you don't have to go too far to get it. Anything over 200 miles and I'd ask him about delivering it for gas money.
  12. There are only 4 places for the accessories to pick up vacuum, at the base of each carb, and each of those are a real bear to get to to visually check. But it would be the place to start
  13. Without actually checking the hoses myself, I would believe that both problems are caused by the same vacuum leak. Does the exhaust have weird smell to it at idle also?
  14. My generosity has gotten me in trouble more than once. Had I been in your shoes I would have just taken them where they needed to go, or called for them on my cell phone.
  15. So? You totally against a bank of ideas to check for the next guy who has this problem and finds this thread via search? I would have thought "the more the merrier", especially since the other could be's actually were "That was it" for someone else.
  16. Check the headlight fuse holder. Mine is very weak on one side of the fuse holder, a piece of copper wire wrapped around the holder effectively clamping the holder to the fuse, hasn't flickered once since this was done.
  17. That is totally different mount than my 86 has. What I am attempting to do, if I can find a shop to do the rechrome is cut the offset tabs off the rear and make new ones that are extended about 1½ inches, and remove and reweld the side ones too. That would make it exactly the same height as stock. Adding a set of bars like yours will not work because there are parts that attach to the side too, like a rail, or bar, I forget exactly where it went but it was not going to make life easy moving the rack. I guess I could make the tabs from stainless and TiG weld with stainless filler, then rechroming would not be mandantory for rust prevention.
  18. I am presently acquiring an extra mount for the trunk to modify, moving back not up. The whole mount must be modified because of the offset rear bracket if going higher is not an option. I made some brackets that moved it back an inch but went up 3/4 inch. Didn't look too bad but like COndor I want the height to remain as was. If I can make this happen cheaply enough i could do an exchange and always have one to modify. part that is actually holding me up at this point is finding someone who will rechrome for less than the price of a new Royal Star. Maybe powder coating black would be acceptable for some?
  19. Until I have everything I want, I cannot afford everything I need
  20. I for one say; "Its about time!" Nothing any more nerve wracking than trying to ride the road worried more about who is going to run up your backside, than what is in front of you.
  21. Not sure exactly where you are but its about 980 to Wichita Falls, 50 gallon will do it easily.
  22. Well, if no one else will, I will haul it for you. COver my fuel and I'll be there Saturday eve
  23. Sounds like his mommie is an attention "ho". She needs her 3 minutes in the spotlight any way she can get it. So, give it to her-in court on the other end of a civil suit.
  24. Enjoyed the ride, almost as much as you did. Love riding in the misty fog! Tell us about the weight loss, how long, what method, you know,, all the things nosey people want to know so they can try to copy you.
  25. That altitude thing is exactly what utadventure surmised was my problem. I had thought it was an altitude boil off thing too. He and I bled it down just like he stated above and it works as good now as it did when the bike had 8k miles on it. Actually better than I remember it working for several years. THis propably is in the list of things you are supposed to read for things to do every year but I'd rather ride than read. Right Dave?
