When we are on the Venture my wife does nothing but ride and enjoy the scenery. If we are on our Vulcans I ride in front 99% of the time so that if I want to say something she can see me when I put my hand up, she then will either allow me to speak or tell me to put my hand down and listen.

I have actually met someone (another site)who, when i introduced myself as Bob Myers ask me what my screen name was. Imagine that.

From the Illinois courts website; The maximum judgment allowed in small claims court is $10,000.00 plus costs; therefore, your claim may not exceed $10,000.00. Wish Ky had a limit that high.
-
Most states the limit on small claims court is $1500.00

Dash Lights on an '83
Bob Myers replied to Condor's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Totally off subject but I can use that little jewel for controlling the cross feed on my surface grinder. The original was a simple pot that controls a 9 volt circuit and died the first month I had the machine. Thanks for posting that! -
We bring these little animals into our house and heart with the unwritten promise to take care of them for their whole life. And yes it saddens us tremendously when the "time" comes. We truly have lost a part of out family, and will often reflect on the good times we enjoyed with that member. We have 2 elderly cats, one is 19½ years old and the other is 17 years old, so yes I do understand the feelings. We know their "time" is near also. AS said another pup would help to ease the burden for most people.

The true definition of "Experience" is; the ability to recognize your mistakes as you make them again.

WANT TO TALK TO ANOTHER BIKE w/o AUDIO
Bob Myers replied to TESchoener's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
did you miss the above part about "except"? I know now it is not legal because of the "accepted" clause they like to throw in there. I am, as you were typing that doing more research and from what I have found so far the rules have changed again on transmitters but as of yet I have not found out what they changed to. So, either she will get her license or I will put the other RS comm radio on my bike. The novelty of using the 2m ht for its intended purpose on the bike has about left since I cannot power it from the bike without super loud alt noise. -
WANT TO TALK TO ANOTHER BIKE w/o AUDIO
Bob Myers replied to TESchoener's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
Actually her radio croaked early in the summer and she has a real live MURS radio, a commercial unit from Radio Shack. And yes like a good husband, all I do is listen. I usually ride in front of her and if I want to say something I hold my hand up(like a school kid) and if she feels like it she will let me speak for 10 seconds, but I normally get told to put my hand down and lead. She's going for her Tech class soon so likely next trip out i'll have to buy her another radio to get back into 2m. The 2m I have is actually legal in the 154 section, except for that little nuisance part about being able to go to other freqs off that band. It is only set up at 2 watts and looking at it on a bird is about 1.75, and the bandwidth is acceptable there too. -
Used parts available for 1st Gens

Ever find that bracket yet? Trunk mounting base, '86 -
Those guys are insane with their prices. There isn't that much involved in building what you have listed. I have a rough proto of that but it doesn't cut out the stereo like the Venture stock system does. Not sure if that one there does either. If not, I have the same thing I built for $25.00 Looks like I need to refine it and put it in a case to sell. I never thought any one would want something like that.

If you ever get to Lexington look us up.

Ky insurance stipulates a driver has access to any vehicle in the household, not just a specific assigned one. So, here he would even be insured on your motorcycle. And, of course they charge accordingly. Even worse, if he has his own vehicle, his own insurance and all is in his name alone, if he list his residence as the same as yours, you still pay as if he is on your policy. Brilliant insurance idgets in Ky figure if he is in your house he has access to all your vehicles. Even if he is away at college and uses your address as point of reference for school!! Smells bad any way you approach it.

What is it you sell?

Yes, I know this works.

If you are sure of where the pressure spots are sand on them, you will notice some relief after only a few minutes of sanding the foam

Most helmets are made for Charlie Brown. I however do not have a round head like him and find that fitting a helmet is rather difficult also. I bought one that fit on the sides fairly well and was pretty tight in the front/back. Yes, I have an oval head. When I got the helmet home I pulled the liner out and got the 40 grit sandpaper and went to work. A little out in the front at the sides, a little out in the back all the way across, and reinstall the liner. test fit says I'm going the right way, but need more material out. When i finished I had a helmet that fits well enough that I kept it on my head first trip out for 30 hours of non stop(except for gas) riding. According to my local dealer the small amount of foam I sanded out could not compromise the helmet at all, I was relieved and skeptical. I sent an email to HJC people and ask them about this, they said if I take out less than a quarter of an inch here and there relieving the tight spots that it would not affect the safety at all and agreed with me that since it fit more of my head it may even be better now than just fitting front and back.

I'm fortunate enough to live only 35 miles from there, been many, many times and still marvel at the scenery. Looks like you caught the color wheel turning too, yellow this week, next week is best when the reds start, its alway pretty there then.

It should be below center, not above

I too fought that battle, in 1980. I was only 25 then so my rebound abilities were much better than they would be now. I did probably as you are doing, chemo and rad at the same time to expedite the treatments. I was off from July 14 until Monday after Thanksgiving with mine, seems like the rad times and chemo times are much shorter today. During this period of time I learned things about myself that I would have never known, like just how much pain and nausea a person can stand, and still stand. But, I know I'm preaching to the choir on that. Congrats, live well knowing that percentages are with you, and every day will be better than yesterday as far as regaining strength and endurance back.
