Bob Myers replied to timgray's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics

New 86 VR idle problems, CLASS question
Bob Myers replied to WiVR's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I think the "valve" you see is actually a bleeder for the linked front brake. It is tucked up high and forward,on the right of the steering head. -
One what? Mount or GPS? The Gps can be had for any where from $50.00 to 350.00! Mounts are generally specific to your GPS Unless you are like me(super cheap), capable of making what you cannot afford to buy then RAM mounts are really tough to beat for selection and pricing. My wife always shops Amazon, not just for baseline pricing but to read reviews of products, and that alone has shaped the way we buy things.

I have an older 60 CS water proof unit for use on bike, I made a stub mount to attach the handlebar mount to. Easy to operate with either hand.

I have one that looks identical to that, unknown as to manufacturer but it says MV50 on the side. Small enough to fit in the side bag of my VR. I have used it many times to air up my BroncoII tires after a day of off roading, and yes they get hot.

No flat rear tires if you ride slow! -
What is everyones favorite chrome accessories?
Bob Myers replied to roadwarrior's topic in Bike Accessories
I tend to favor my chrome plated stainless steel money clip. It has seen some serious fattening recently by me not buying trinkets and do-dads! That stuff is insanely expensive. -
Children’s ATV sales banned?!?!?! Feds at it again
Bob Myers replied to CMIKE's topic in Watering Hole
This law has much more far reaching devastation than this, ANY THING aimed at 12 and under is effected. Look around at the resale shops for childrens clothes, 4 of the 6 here in Lexington are closed -
What are you proposing for frame, steel tube or aluminum? You have a way of opening dxf files? I'll share my trailer plans with you, I already built the frame, have yoke and bike coupling started but not finished.

They're going to let him bobtail for a week or so and if he don't jackknife it they'll let him pull a trailer. I did that for 12 years, in the 70's and 80's. Regs are much tougher today than then, keep and eye on the nickels and dimes, they are what breaks you.

Bob didn't plan this! This is all freezyrider gig, I am at his disposal however to lend any help or guidance I can. I like playing tour guide! Tina reminded me tonight of this, I had actually let it slip my mind. The plan, as I understand is for several couples to gather in Lexington on the Friday before Labor Day, and to ride the central Ky area on Saturday and Sunday, giving them Monday to return to their homes. As far as I am concerned, the more the merrier. I am quite sure if he is around that Midrsv will be along, and between he and I there will be no rock left unturned for you guys.

30 day ride? Plan? Why? 25% of the fun is going down( or in your case UP) roads that seem to point in the general direction of where you want to go. Another 25% of the fun is finding things you did not know you had missed, and of course 50% is just going. Take your GPS, leave it in the bag for when you really think you are lost, pull it out and turn it on to confirm, then put it back away without peeking at where you wanted to be. Simply put you are not lost if you don't care where you are.

Yes, as weird as that sounds Sierra will sell J&M cheaper than J&M. Before you decide to plunk down on that at least consider the GMRS/FRS radios, FM transmission means clear and clean audio, they are cheap now and range is near what a portable CB will be. Unless there is a particular drive for the CB

Very nice! I now know where the bell is going, and know who it'll protect! When you said she liked the Sportster I thought, surely not, never in a million years, but from the grin on her face, it's the right choice.

need a 1st gen camshaft cap
Bob Myers replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I would TiG weld that back together. Cam shaft/ cap is linebored/honed for proper straightness. If you do replace with a cap from another engine drill out the bolt holes about ½mm so you can spend several hours locating the center of the cam, and even then Good Luck! -
When I was driving I smoked as much as 3 packs a day, went back to Machine Shop, still smoking. Former boss was a reformed smoker and he told me many times what all your friends here have said about being the easiest/hardest thing they ever tried. I made a pact with myself, in September 1992 I started telling myself I was going to quit in January, told all my friends that too. On Jan 7, 1993 at 11am I put out what I still believe was may last cigarette. My wife finally quit 2 years ago in December(Yea Leather& Lace), and has been 100% smoke free since. We quite often comment on how bad someone who comes into our business smells of smoke, but not to them of course. It gets easier some days, some days it gets tougher. Just try to refrain from replacing that addiction with another one, like becoming an overeater. That is tougher to face than cigs.

Man, I want to reiterate what I told you last year, "Your camera skills go way beyond your modesty" That was very good, and that song made the video that much better. Was that young man singing that? Whoever it was I would like to hear more of him.
