Yea, the one marketed by the folks in UK appears to have "things" that could bite if provoked by falling down on them. The 40mm ceramics I had scoped out could easily fit inside the helmet, as with what freebird said, very diminished capacity with no heat sink. They were only 4mm thick, depending on hot hot they get as to whether the styrofoam would stand it or not. Would not like to melt that stuff.

Without a large external heatsink the effectiveness would be reduced drastically, which would relate to a smaller temp differential. One I played with years ago was with the intent of using the heat side, and from that I remember that no heat sink whatsoever resulted in about a 20ºf drop only, not the 70ºc that you get under optimum conditions.10 or 15ºf drop would be a considerable difference, inside the helmet or a vest. I do agree the task of spreading it around would be tough. Haven't actually got one now to play with but ebay is loaded with them.

Any one ever think of trying to put a peltier junction in a helmet for cooling? Or maybe put one (or more) in a vest? I know they are rigid and won't comform to any radius but I found some that are only 40mm sq. Sounds like a good size to put top center of a helmet. Ones on market now are pretty low current draw compared to ones I played with several years ago.

Next time you see one doing this as (s)he is parking ask "hows that reverse gear working for you"? Of course they'll answer "what reverse"?, and you reply with, "Oh I thought you had reverse and had to keep gassing it to keep from stalling it and falling over"

Yes! Thank you for the recommendation, I appreciate it very much.

But we have 3 bikes, so 3 bells

Wow, that was pretty quick. If only i would fit in one of those mailer things, I would be there too! Enjoy them, if you need more just ask!

Tina and I were on the BRP on SUnday, up near Roanoke and it was in the 60's there, then on Monday in the same area you were, it was in the 40's up on Cold Mtn.

Tina and I left Pigeon Forge yesterday, it was very cool for this time of the year, and is expected to be cool through Sunday. It was in the 50's up on Tablerock, and the 40's on Cold Mountain Monday!

I'm sure he understood that when he ask if it could be done. I too would like to modify it to run when ignition is on. I could then use the compressor to inflate tires without worry of the battery going flat. -
Have you ever heard of a rubber clamp called "Quick Fist" If you can't get them there let me know, I am a dealer for them and can spare a set for you,"because I said I can". Just let me know. http://www.endroad.com/page/page/711712.htm

Front wheel bearings are gone
Bob Myers replied to Brake Pad's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You can pay the big bucks for them at Yamaha or go to your local bearing store and save a couple$$. If you elect to buy from bearing store do not accept any thing other than SKF bearings. They are a couple dollars more but are better bearings. Even if seals look good, replace them. Some people buy a bearing that is double sealed, and remove the seal on the back side and pack a little more grease into the cavity as they are assembling, when the bearings get hot the grease will actually work its way into the balls and give a slight increase in life span. But, only the inside seal on both! -
I ordered 2 of them from these people, the day after you posted and still haven't seen them. Tried calling, I guess they're closed today for the 4th holiday

Febreeze is the answer! I spray my helmet with a quick shot every time I wear it. No smell, I use the "baby powder" scent. Cheap, less than 2 bucks at WalMart, same can been using for over a year.

Ones with white dot on their forehead don't sting, they're wood bees. Bumble bees do resemble carpenter/wood-boring bees. They're slightly smaller and have a more elaborate yellow-fuzzy 'jacket'. http://forums.organicgardening.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Just an fyi on the carpenter bees: The males (the ones you'll see the most) have no stingers and are all show and no action. They'll only buzz around you to intimidate you and protect their nest. Females do have stingers, but rarely use them. They mainly stay hidden w/their colony.

Ditto on the bumblebee in the helmet. I am allergic to them, and I saw him coming at me the last 10 foot or so. When I finally got stopped and helmet off I saw the white dot on his head and almost cried I was so relieved. Could have been disaster, I was alone and about 20 miles to nearest hospital.

Yep, sure paid a lot of my bills in the late 60's and 70's, I would bet I have a dozen radios, here and there, prefer my 2m or 6m radio on the bike.

I do like how the center of your trailer was cut out and the chock installed, quite a neat job I can't imagine ever using an open trailer again. Ride on, tie down, cruise away.

Sir, I do believe you have your numbers transposed. Technically a 1.0:1 is perfect match, 2:1 is acceptable but not desirable, 3:1 is danger zone

I loved that report. There once was a "secret reporter" doing some day to day blogging on a off road site i frequented, he stopped posting, no one ever found out why. Even if no one cares to read you can email them to me, thanks for that post

Mufflers are easy to replace, I busted the whole exhaust on my Honda 90 scaring a dog.
