  1. Mine took 4 months to get last year, made the ride in August, got my credentials in December. 1734 miles in 31 hours 23½ hours moving, 5 hours R&R, 2 hours and change fueling/eating
  2. #7 is gasket, http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/honda-motorcycle-cb900c-1982/o/m2013 $87.00 US
  3. What is your plan for the afternoon, you have morning covered.
  4. Good for you! Looks a might chilly there but hang on it'll be warmer in 45 days or so.
  5. If you really want it, buy it and have ic23 store it until someone is coming your way, or until you get your hitch on. It may not be the prettiest or best trailer in the world but for that money it sure comes close.
  6. At the present rate of support, 1500 members is a small group, when compared to the big picture of 8k names on a list.
  7. Yes, very good deal. Make sure they are 5 pin, if he is selling them not knowing what they are worth it is possible he is selling something he knows nothing about fitment of.
  8. I'm no brute at 200 pounds, and even with broken ribs I can and did put my 87 on center stand. Using the aforementioned method of knuckles in, left hand on the bar, instep on the rocker. My problem is getting it down from there. I usually have to stand on the foootboards, lean back and rock it forward. Usually it just scoots first 4 or 5 times. Then when it does come down, I have less than ½second to get my feet on the ground. I would hate to imagine what would happen if it took a full second to get my feet down there.
  9. My preference for lapping a plate is a figure"8". Move the part in a 8 pattern, less likely to rub more off one side than the other. Low spot/high spots will show up after one or two passes
  10. Yes Steve, I can do that, or even put them on the front if you desire.
  11. Several years ago, 2 cops running lights and siren, on a divided 4 lane, in town(Lexington), one a city car, the other a deputy sheriff, Deputy crashes into a car crossing from right to left in front of him, man dies. Deputy was convicted on manslaughter
  12. Since my left elbow is sore too, on the side nearest my body I figure it did the deed. There is a scuff on my leather jacket directly opposite of the sore spot, so that had to be what it was. From all evidence I fell with full weight(210lbs) onto my arm and pushed it into my side. I was a good captain and went down with the ship. I was still holding on when the water starting coming in my helmet, which by the way did not have a scuff or mark on it either. I think any one who reads this can learn something from it, I know I sure did. We went back out there Sunday evening, the algae/moss/mud on the surface is as slick as ice. Put your foot on it and it actually woulld start to slide before you pushed. No, we both have Vulcans, I was on mine, she was at home. I can't ride hers, she gets upset if I fuss with her mirrors.First time in ages I have ridden without her being right behind me. I have been following the thread on the ride, if things change for us we'll be there but at this time we have a prior engagement for the first weekend of Oct., we'll be in North Carolina
  13. Nice! Love the suspension, looks smooth. Your garage is way too clean though, not enough unfinished projects in the floor
  14. That appears to be the culprit, brown furry stuff
  15. You should have been there to show me how an expert would have done it too. Huge difference between standing water and moving water.
  16. Went for a country road ride yesterday, on my Vulcan, ran about 120 miles or so, never more than40 miles from home at any given point, sort of a big semi-circle. Last leg of the ride i was on a road that 2 bicycles would have trouble passing each other on. I rounded a curve, came upon a low water crossing. I stopped before I even got to the edge of the water, could see easily see it was no more than a couple inches deep. I started across, being cautious, knowing it was likely somewhat slippery. I had no idea just how slippery though. 15 foot onto the crossing the rear went north, the front went south, and I landed on my side with the 800 on top of me, it happened so fast that I was still holding onto the handlebars and looking at water running in my helmet. I mean, it was literally a blink of the eye and I was down. I scurried out from under it and hit the kill button, I then reached down and picked it up with my left hand, sat it on the kickstand. I took my helmet off and sat it on my sissybar, it was then I noticed my bike was moving! Sideways! the current was pushing my bike sideways while it was on the sidestand. Water was only a couple inches deep, not even over my shoes. I jumped on and fired it back up, and surprisingly it fired easily, I was already still in first gear so I eased the clutch out, not giving any gas. It started spinning! Even more sideways now, almost pointing straight into the flow of the water. It started to move forward, idling, pointing at a 45ºangle to the flow/direction I wanted to go. Yep, I had to "drift" it across. When I got to the other side and stopped on dry pavement is when I noticed the pain. At least one broken rib, sticking out about 2" from my ribcage, and at least 5 or more ribs bruised badly. Not a scratch or a mark on my bike. Nothing. Not even a scratch on my windshield. In the blink of an eye, and going less than idle speed in first gear! Yea, wife wanted to see the spot that finally put me down. I've been riding since 1968 and that is my first down on a street bike, that is her in the Jeep crossing the crossing
  17. Maybe a mosfet unit but not an old school transistor and certainly not a tube unit
  18. Actually the route he states "Cumberland Parkway" was never toll. It is also known as US25e. When you get into Corbin, 25e will end at a stop light. At that light US25 goes north/south. If you turn left onto 25 south the first, original Kentucky Fried Chicken house is about 1 mile down and on your right. Still sell chicken out of there. No Dunkin in Georgetown either. What time do you plan on being in Gtown, and from there where you heading? I may tag along for the ride. I'm in Lexington, exit 115, about 3 miles in toward town. If you get started this way and develop any problems, I have trucks, trailers and a roll back, more tools than 3 people can put back in tool box in an hour too. And if all else fails, a welder
  19. Frank, I'm 6'+-½" on any given day, average 200 pounds. I have a set of the elusive floorboards on my 88 VR and my size 12 fit them well. I also fitted a set of "mini floorboards" on the crash rails to help stretch out a bit. Did an Iron Butt run on it last year, actually 2 of them back to back on the stock seat. Did well with that setup, and as you my right hand goes numb, bad arthritis in wrist. Cruise control is the answer there, even if you only run it for ¼ mile at a time, it is a saver. I'll have to take a pic of them but they are sold through JC Whitney for about $29 or so.
  20. Yea, the Dunkin Donut shop in Lexington North end closed up.
  21. Placement turned out great. Very easy to get to when needed. Love those leather cups.
  22. No tolls, decent roads, plenty of hungry cops to play with.
  23. Yep, and no matter what the naysayers have to say, I like it. No flys, no gnats, no dogs trying to lick the lining out of it. You keep making it, I'll need another can pretty soon!
  24. I have a couple of the peltier junctions or TEC as thy are commecially known on the way. We'll see what and where they will fit/work. If nothing else I could have Tina put them in a vest. Cool(no pun intended) thing about them is if you reverse the polarity they become a heater.
  25. $250 for a watercooled helmet addon. I would guess that to be some what similar to the cool suit things the NASCAR guys have? Pumping cool water through the do rag would work but I would have to buy yet another helmet, the one I have broken in and fitted to my xxx melon already fits tight enough with out "shimming" it.
