  1. We rode a few miles, all small secondary roads yesterday and out of the 30 or so motorcycles we saw, Tina and I were the only ones wearing helmets. And of the rest of the people we saw, at least 50% of them had passengers with tank tops and shorts. I cringe at the thought of some young person wearing such on a motorcycle. If they could only see some of the pictures and people we've seen who were dressed like that when they fell off their bikes. I guess to be old and wise you must first be young and stupid.
  2. You'll find a 7½" rear in BroncoII, and Ranger pickup, with a 5x4.5 bolt pattern. The majority of the Mustangs with 7½ are 4 lug, and the 5 lug are 8.8 axles. Considerably heavier. What parts do you need? I just threw away a ring and pinion yesterday for one, it is a 3.54 ratio. I can retrieve it until next Friday if you want it.
  3. SO the folks coming in for this MUST be reserved by April 28? Wow, they must be anticipating a large gathering of people in Lexington for Memorial Day, huh? Last year our attendance was cut short by a family crisis, hopefully this year will present nothing of the sort. by the way, that BBQ joint we ate at on Friday last year, closed within 3 weeks of our visit. Must've eat them out of the years projected sales?
  4. Wit great anticipation and all 3 of my GPS charged and ready I too await this answer I have yet to break down on either of my bikes, but it could have happened easily this weekend when a bearing went south on my Vulcan. Even if closest member had no facilities to fix, just having a safe friendly place to leave the bike would be a Godsend!
  5. Dennis, If you haven't bought any thing yet I have a Craftsman three stack box for sell. Tall, I can barely see into the top compartment. Not the prettiest box, but roller drawers, huge lockable casters, and less than half the price of a new one.
  6. Yea, I know exactly what you mean. Tina was standing beside me looking over my shoulder watching it and if she hadn't caught me when I fell out of the chair I may have ended up sliding all the way to the bottom. Every time he looked to the right I leaned to the left. If he looked donw I looked up, the one time he looked up I closed my eyes.
  7. Hello my friend, actually I am setting my Vulcan up with an aux gas tank to do just that, the first weekend in May. Leaving Lexington, going to Charlotte and team up with some other folks, then to Crestview Fla where they will turn and go back, I will from there come home. Looking at a BBG(1500 in 24hrs) this trip. Will be my third award if I can pull it off.
  8. If you are ready for a real ride, and you are sitting in a chair with arms so you can hold on, [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsYNFhO6c8g]YouTube- Ligurische Grenzkammstrasse mal etwas anders... Teil2[/ame]

    SNOW

Not to make fun of any one in particular but wasn't some clown on Letterman year talking about this "Global Warming" thing? And making jokes about the statement as well,,,,hmm best I remember his name was Al Gore too, is that merely a coincidence? Some more than others, eh?
  10. Imagine if you will, one of those cheap tail light modulators with the output going to a relay for the second of two of those horns. First one blasting and second one coming and going. I have an extra one, I may give that a test to see what it'll do.
  11. For it to be safe on plastics they had to leave something out that caused the crazing on the plastic. It was barely effective on glass before, the way it was.
  12. I'm sorry, yes it is water mixed.
  13. dawn dish washing detergent mixed at about 1% with water and applied to back of windshield, rubbed in real good and allow to dry without rinsing will stop the windshield from fogging on the backside. Works good on the front side too until the rain washes it off.
  14. Check properties on my computer, it is running service pack III, and there is 3g ram, not 2 like I thought.
  15. I will look and see when that was, but I have had auto updates turned off for over a year. It's only been doing this for a few weeks
  16. Home computer running XP serv pack3, 3g ram, when I type anything like a reply to an email or a reply on a thread my actual letter posting lags behind my keystrokes by several seconds. I'm not a fast 3 fingered typist, maybe 10wpm, at best. McAfaee and Lavasoft find nothing amiss or extra. If I reboot it does not do it as badly for about 5 minutes. Any guess?
  17. weird! #2 picture looks EXACTLY like the same creek, 50 foot downstream where it comes out on the other side of a house. EXACTLY!! Curve to the right elevated about 8 foot and everything
  18. Thank you Vic, I did get it repaired, it really wasn't a tough job it just was I had no tools to work with. So, I bought more tools, and guess I'll fashion some sort of carrier to keep them in her Jeep "just in case". We'll be back in your neighborhood again soon, i'll advise ahead of time and plan a meet.
  19. Thank you for your replies! I did get the Jeep fixed today, ended up replacing both front wheel bearing units. They were both bad, it was danged cold working in the motel parking lot. Had to walk several trips to buy more tools but I did make it work! Spent near $220.00 doing it, but I did it myself. The hubs popped right off without being stuck to the axles, thanks to my applying generous amounts of never-seize when I replaced the axles 6 years ago. 36mm is axle nut size!
  20. Wife and I are in need of the loan of some tools to facilitate me repairing her Jeep. If no one is near I can always find a Sears or Kmart and buy tools I need. We had a wheel bearing go out and cannot get parts until Saturday. We are at the motel we had chosen for our destination so no rescue mission is needed.
  21. SO how do you adjust the vertical attitude? Does it have dowel pins in addition to the bolts for the mount ?
  22. I have read this before that people claim a brake doing more on one side than the other will make a bike pull to the side. How? IF it does, then why does my Vulcan not make a complete turn when I nail the front brake? It only has a brake on one side. I don't understand either how having one fork tube low on oil can cause it. This one needs an explanation please.
  23. And this person(pseudo human) would be a punching bag too
  24. El-cheapo laser pointer and measure from the tire to the beam is very accurate, and easy. If you have a camera tripod it is simple to setup. One of the 8" tall tripod from Dollar Tree works best, and only cost $1.
  25. No sir, I had no idea you even had a hack until I read this thread. I live in a cave and only come out every couple weeks to see if it is spring yet. Can you get your bike up on a lift where you can get down and really look at the tires and their alignment? It sounds like the back tire is pointing to the right a little in the front. Having never looked at a service manual or had a swingarm apart I'm shooting in the dark. Can those be shimmed or adjusted to change the attitude of the rear tire? Sort of like aligning the rear tire on a chain drive? My Vulcan when properly aligned will pull left, to compensate some I always adjust the chain closer to the tire in front than my laser light says it should be. Most of the left turn tendency disappears.
