Yes! The resistor will be a linear device, buying a cheap phone charger or usb device will be regulated somewhat. I installed a cigar lighter on my Vulcan, just to power such items, and to protect the less than bulky wire I ran for the lighter plug, I used a self-resetting 2amp circuit breaker

Who had done 800 to 1000 miles without a lay over.

Looking for oil leak solution.
Bob Myers replied to wags8440's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I really like the way this tucks the filter up there. You (and I) can now change oil without taking that lower fairing piece off. Just remember to never take your adapter off unless it starts to leak!!- 21 replies

You know, if you used tubing, welded one end in solid and used a 6" long end on the other side you could kill 2 birds with a single stone. You would have 4 inches or so of adjustment and also be able to clock the end to fit on the nut no matter where it was orientated. A stainless set screw or similar would suffice to lock it in place. On edit, I see you did use tubing. Dang, that really turned out nice, but a lot of work!

Yep, the more I think about that you are right, a 8" deep 2" wide trench would hold a piece of 2" conduit nicely. I had intended on at least sticking a piece of long radius 2" in the concrete at the edge of the wall just in case I found someone with a trencher.

Maybe by the end of the week it will be concreted, it is a 24x24 w/8'eaves. Not designed to work in or out of, just a storage shed. No electric, no water. Bought the kit from ManSea Metals in Winchester Ky, delivered to my site for $3700.

SUnday afternoon at 5pm it looked somewhat different;

My pieces parts were delivered Friday afternoon, so about all that was done was digging a few holes. However, Saturday afternoon at 5pm it looked like this;

One of them brought a Bobcat too, what was once a yard in bad need of mowing became a nice flat playground;

Another new way to mount stuff on a 1st gen handlebar.

Yes, it actually took me longer to decide what wrench size to end up with than to make the rest from a piece of 1" stainless bar. I hate making decisions. -

This is Mike's thread, if he doesn't want to then I will. -
got a call today from Sirius, seems as thought they are loosing subscribers rapidly. They offered a 6 month sub for $24.99(yea, sign me up), or a year for $89.00. All the bells associated with the regular $12.95 per month fee, just reduced price. Mine ended on May1, and they even waived the $15 reconnect fee.

I like it too! In fact, I liked it so much I copied it(sort of), about 5 years ago!!http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=25921 -
Yep, me too, I shortened the coax cable for the antenna to about 2 foot on my vulcan, and put another on a bracket I had on the left side of windshield on the Venture then soldered and heat shrink protected the joints. Works fine

Not sure you can see anything without signing on but, from the home page click the tab marked "roads". You can then browse other peoples roads or make a map of your own. Sample of one of my maps; http://grouprider.com/view_route.php?user=Bob_Myers&road_id=4776 You will have the option of viewing it, downloading as a GPX file, printing it or saving it as one of your own.
-
Grouprider.com, maps can be made and saved on site, then download in proper format for gps at any time. Also, there are literally hundreds, if not thousands of other users storing maps and trips you can peruse and download at will. Plenty cheap too, FREE!

The strange part is I thought I was immune to stress related health issues like that. I have had some really tough things balanced on my shoulders before and I certainly don't remember it affecting my health, just as you likely have not either. I guess different triggers for everyone, but everyone has one.

You will overcome the stress created by the proceeding, and riding will help clear it, say maybe a 2 week cruise with nowhere to go and 2 weeks to get there and back? It is amazing how external stress can totally mess up your health! We started in January trying to buy a house, it seemd that every two days we were ask for something different to effort to prove(or disprove) our income and expenses. Then the wait would start again. Being self employed has its perks( I think) but being "credit worthy" to the banks and Fannie May/Freddie Mac are certainly not one of them! Long story short, we closed on the house in early April, my head and stomach are just now starting to revert back to before the bank actions started. I thought I had a stomach virus for 2 months, all of it centered around the stress of the deal. We ended up with a 4 bedroom ranch with a 18x32 family room and a 2½ car attached garage. No steps, no more going to the basement to do laundry or tinker with whatever electronic project I had. No more coat/hat/shoes to go to the garage to get a bigger hammer to make that electronic project work either!

Before I even saw that pic I had a mental vision of him clamping that lever right hard and doing a stoppie! You can bet learning moderation will be first thing he accomplishes!

Wow, a floater rear caliper would certainly stabilize the rear wanting to rise under braking. With the design of the caliper mount he is using the only way to float would be to leave axle loose, I think. Designing a collar for it to float on and capture the wheel/swingarm would be easy for him .

I thought the Honda guy opened Richmond store and was so successful he moved all his eggs to the one basket in Richmond. Obviously I was misinformed. I dealt with the Honda guy when they were in the 2 story building, back in the 60's, up until they moved to the brick building on Mt Sterling Road. Good to hear there is a shop back in there, Fburg and Maysville can easily support a good shop. The name Montana Ogden doesn't ring any bells, may know him if I saw him
-
You mean there is another Venture rider in Paris? I thought I knew almost everyone here with a bike Is there another shop opened up in Fburg now?

Front Axle Right Spacer ?

Rick, Is the bore a single diameter all the way through, or is it stepped similar to outside? What is axle diameter, you have that measurement handy? -
Rural Retreat Va to Cape Girardeau, MO this week

Had you actually gone in a manner that would put you in all three of these towns while on a West from East bound trip I would have been dizzy tracking all your backtracking. Mercy. -
