  1. Elite II is still in production apparently, bias ply are any way. Called Honda dealer near my house and they said their supplier will not sell them tires over one calendar year old. $250, mounted and balanced.
  2. Whatever you do, don't tell the dealer you charged it with a 15 amp charger!! And don't tell him you allowed to go totally flat. He'll laugh and walk away leaving you to wonder what was so funny. Most small batteries like these should only be charged at 1½ to 2 amps max
  3. You likely have the dreaded "open" circuit in the battery, it will show near full charge, as yours does, but not be able to produce enough amperage to do much more than dimly light your lights. Also, full charge on a 12v battery is actually 13.6v When it was running it was running on the power the stator was making, not the battery. Time for a new one! I would highly recommend the AGM batteries, my Venture would eat those Yuasa batteries every 8 months or less, I swapped to an AGM battery 7 years ago, it is now on the second battery since switch, and it was covered partially by warranty.
  4. Did you go with bias or radial? I found 8 of the exact same tires I have so i'm going to jump onone of them before they're long gone, $177.00 plus shipping,, unless you folks who are in the know tell me to either go radial or with Elite III's. Likely the bias is going to win, I'm only changing the rear now, the front has maybe 3k on it.

  11. Annie, I had the pleasure of spending an evening with Dave and Jan a few years ago, in my mind those are the nicest people you could meet on any continent!!!
  12. I have at several occasions used each of the programs talked about here, and as yet I have not found one that will easily do what you want. Never really thought about such a route plan but i can certainly see where it would be quite handy. If you ever come across one that will, please inform us of it.

  14. I use Grouprider.com Build and save your trips, copy and use others trips too. Download to computer as a GPX file, then open and transfer to my Garmin with Basecamp. Thousands of trip people have saved and are free to share with you are there.

  16. I used to build and sell trailers, so Iknow the looks over your shoulder to assure yourself the cut was right, etc. First trailer I built for myself was a tilt, some one stole it. Last 3 flatbeds I either built or bought and refurbed to sell were stolen too. I got tired of supplying those bastards with trailers and kept one junky looking trailer, and no one has taken it. Moral of this tale; The better it looks, the quicker it'll get stolen.

  18. That is typical of the bolts used on a Ford rear axle to Driveshaft, they usually have a dab of blue locktite on them
  19. I'm a little late in this conversation but the replacement whip for the top can be had about any parts house or WalMart. Buy a cheap auto replacement antenna, the cheaper the better, slide top section all the way out, cut it off at the point where #2 section starts. Replaced mine like this, with one from autozone for $9.95. And yes the little ball on top is important, it dissipates static to a degree. Pulled it out and snipped a little off 20 times or more sneaking up on the swr
  20. Thanks Dave, my plan was to erect the tower next weekend, that'll be 8 days after pour. At 56 foot the whole tower with hing plates only weighs 202 pounds, antennas and rotor are another 41 pounds. 6½ yards of concrete sHould be enough base to hold it.
  21. Find one of those "paintless dent removal" guys and have him go at it. Can't hurt it much worse than a UPS ride did.
  22. Didn't know that, interesting. I can still make my threaded connection from a stainless, and then bolt the aluminum to the stainless, but that is getting pretty busy for the connection. I'll have to do more research since you brought this up. On Edit; According to what I can find to read the galvonic process is most likely not going to be a problem in this area. Humidity and coastal air play a huge part in expediting that.
  23. the actual cradle of all thread that supports the antenna was tied into the concrete at three different levels. First one was a simple angle iron cross app 8 inches from floor, second one was full triangle, 18" above that, and final one was another 18" above the second one, leaving app 10" of concrete on top of the last one before getting to the 4 inch riser in the middle. But thanks for the Dade mumbo. I guess building on sand or sand stone would be quite different than what I have here.
  24. I guess I need some schooling on this. Why does being wet make it take years instead of days to cure? I have been led to believe you can pour concrete under water and it'll setup and cure out, not as fast obviously as if it were above water.
  25. when I built the rebar cage I used 8 foot copper clad for the 4 corners, drove them 5 foot into the ground and welded them to the horizontal bars, which were in turn welded to the angle frame that holds the 7/8 all thread galvanized bars. These all thread bars will thread into an aluminum block I machined to set the legs in. So, in short the aluminum legs of the tower will be bolted to the frame work that is welded to the copper clad ground rods, should be a more secure connection than clamping a wire to each leg, what do you think? more ground wire still needed? I never even thought about the sealer, I actually have a 5 gallon bucket of it I can dump on it. Bet it won't take a quart to cover it
