  1. jeeze Ed, for 3k I'd be on that like Big Tom on a milkshake!! If you pass on it send me the info I may be in a position next week to invest in a 4th bike.
  2. Amen Carl, I use it too in everything I'm putting away for any length of time. My generator gets double dose /double strength, it has sat as long as 2 years and fired right up and ran like always.
  3. allowing it to idle for an extended period of time with the seafoam in the tank will help considerably to rid the crud. Make thos idle jets earn their keep, clean 'em out.
  4. we have a 95 grand cherokee with 394k on the speedo, valve cover never been off. Only 5 sets of spark plugs ever installed. 3 transmissions, 2 transfer cases, wheel bearings once.
  5. Have you decided on a route and turn point? Down 58 to 71 to Cincinnati to 75 South would run you by me, and if allowed i'd run to the turnaround and back with you. Down 77 to Columbia and26 to 95 would be a great route too, up and down lost of hills, likely less traffic until you hit Charlotte, then it'll be wall to wall all the way to Jacksonville and back. Once you decide please advise, if i am going to ride along I need to finish up my aux tank so I can go another 150 miles too.
  6. Don, what is the mileage per tank with your intended ride?
  7. I would not do it alone if I had a trusty second rider with a trusty bike. Keep me apprised of your plans. I live 5 miles off of I75 at exit 90A, 4 miles off of I75 at exit 87. I'd love to make that run with you. I earned a BB and a SS when i went out to visit Utahventure, and I feel the need to ride some more miles. it is roughly 1250 from here to Lake City Fla and back, easy ride if traffic is light It is roughly 325 miles from Richmond to your place, staying Richmond might make your mileage work good for you.
  8. Have it your way, I was warned and didn't listen.
  9. without a sensor in place to see what it is in close proximity to I am going to take the facts given as true, the sensor does not count the ring gear teeth, nor does it count the pinion revolutions, it instead counts the pinion teeth. Am I on the correct path there Flyinfool? So that means that Mike and I both are wrong, right?
  10. You obviously know more about this than you are telling us. You keep saying the sensor is counting 33 teeth. That is the ring gear. I read above that it counts the pinion gear revolutions(9 or 10 depending on which gearset is used), what it uses for a trigger was never explained. With this in mind that it is counting the pinion revolutions and not the ring revolutions then the 33 is not even considered to be relevant in the counting process, and indicated speed would change for a given number of ring revolutions.
  11. What is the point there? 33 teeth on both rings, make one revolution, the difference is at what rpm the pinion turns. From what I read above, the sensor reads the pinion. So that being you could remove the ring and the sensor would still count the pinion turns.
  12. Is that what the GenII run for rpm at that given speed? No wonder the First gen will run away from them, they are geared lower, mine turns 4k at 70 mph
  13. Your math is interesting but I think slightly off. A 10 tooth pinion and a 33 tooth ring gear gives an effective ratio of 3.30:1, or 3.3 turns of pinion for one turn of ring. A 9 tooth pinion and a 33 tooth ring gear gives you 3.66:1 ratio, or 3.666 turns of pinion to one turn of ring. If the sensor is looking at the pinion for its pulse count and not the ring then it will see an increase in pulses per mile with 9 teeth. If the sensor is looking at the ring, and the ring only then I'm lost and you are correct. Having never looked at one with the electronic pickup I have no idea on where or how it sees a pulse. Mine has a cable, and it aint right either.
  14. I agree, for most socket head or hex head. I wanted socket head/flat head screws for this. I'll use the rest or give them to needy friends.
  15. Amen my friend!! Moisture in the fluid really aggravates it, when it gets hot and expands it'll push fluid out the top of the master. In fact I flush and change the fluid every year, whether it needs it ir not and never experienced it again. Scary coming up to a stop at the end of a ramp and pull the lutch lever in only to keep going!!!!
  16. I had a 99 RSTD that belonged to a friend, he too had let it sit for years, once in a while he would start it and let it run until the fan kicked on a couple times. Then even that was lost in the hustle of his job. Three years later he ask me to get it going so he could sell it. I had the carbs of and on 5 times, chasing a different gremlin each time just like you. I'll bet you can get the carbs off now without even pulling the tank can't you!!
  17. I just ordered 50(smallest box I could buy) of the appropriate sized screws for master cover, in stainless socket head, I only need 4! Cost $8.00 plus shipping
  18. If it is leaning out under high rpm that would certainly fatten it back up, if only for a second or so. You would know. If it is starving from weak pump it likely won't make a bit of difference. If it is electrical the extra fuel would bog it down.
  19. What route are you taking to Tennessee?
  20. I received this from Dan this morning; Bob, it's condition varies but I would say yes.....passable most of the time. It can be a challenge if you ride it right after a gully washer but the Park Service is pretty good about closing it if it is real bad. I assume you know it is gravel? He said nothing about it being a one way North bound only
  21. last set I did, I bench set them with a #60 drill bit in the gap. When I fired it up the idle was real close, and as Carl said I was within 2"Hg on the gauges.
  22. Have a friend who lives there, near Rich Mtn road, sent him a message, will advise what he says
  23. That is a 4mm screw isn't it? Almost exact same head as a #10 sae bolt, looky here, package of 100 pc for $6.76 McMaster-Carr Depending on where you live in relation to their many warehouse it may take as long as 2 days to get them. Bleeder cover Flat style cover made for metric
  24. Thanks Dion, I went through the motions of ordering, and after applying the discount it would have saved me almost .90! I ordered from the Honda shop, they price matched Dennis Kirk price, and mount and balance for $30.00 Would have been $45 if I carry in a tire.
  25. 6 years on a Yuasa is most impressive!
