We arrived at our cabin Friday evening and the women fell in love with it at first sight. It took awhile to look around and get unpacked, but after that we all sat on the deck and had some liquid reftreshments. Saturday morning brought a ever so slight chill in the air,but it warmed up quickly so we were off for some breakfast and hikeing at Old Man's Cave, Cedar Falls,Ash Cave and Rock House. For some reason the hills seemed bigger than they were 8 or 10 years ago.:whistling: Saturday evening we all sat around the campfire and had some more liquid refreshments, smore's, and several turns in the hot tub. It was a late evening with all the talking about the day and the sights we had seen. Everyone wanted to plan another trip as soon as possible, only longer. Sunday it was time to pack up and head for home but not before we took the women shopping at the Artisan Mall and a flee market/antique shop. We found Highway Rebel Apparel ( Classic car and motorcycle shop) but they were closed. I was glad that I had the only trailer as the wifes love to shop. Thought I would have to UPS some luggage home.:rotf: WE decided to take the 2 lanes home for some nice riding. My friends youngest son and my son did and exellent job riding on their first road trip on their sportsters. My daughter said she liked riding behind her brother, but she can't wait untill her car is paid for, so she can buy her own bike. Next time will be a longer stay for sure.

Thanks Squidley---Knew all about 1st gens. We have one dealer here that you could not pay me enough to go to. Two others both 1 hr away in opposite directions that I would highly recommend. I quess people telling about there problems with the 2nd gen and their dealer makes them feel better. At least we get know about any potential problems. I love my 86 vr and will keep it, but a new bike in the barn would be nice. I like the rsv's and harley's. (hate latters price)

Come on folks, HOw about some of you that have owned 1st gens and now own 2nd gens. Tell me the difference and which you like better. Read in here the other day that someones bike was in the shop for 4 weeks for the radio and now the rear shock may be leaking. Others have said they had to have rear shock replaced. Does Yamaha back their warenty or do you have to ague with them, or is it some questionable dealers.

Seen these years ago. Some were made up to look like Harley oil drum, some beer kegs. Not very large ( won't carry alot ) Never heard how they pull or how water tight.

My friend just called and said his radio just guit on his 08 RSV. I have read what seems like alot of other issue's with the 2nd gen. bikes. Whats up with the 2nd gen. bikes? The 1st gen bikes never had this many problems and if there were any everyone knew about it and it was taken care of by the dealers and Yamaha. No questions. I was thinking of putting an 09 RSV beside my Rich looking Black and Gold 86 VR, but now I'm wondering if I should. Lets hear some input to help me make up my mind. I've seen alot of good natured joking going on between 1st and 2nd gens, but I have to say here, My first gen has alot going for it even if it is over the hill . ( Like Me )

BuckShot replied to BuckShot's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks, just wanted to make sure what was meant by circut. Been along time sence working with wireing. Just need to start charging my friend for all the info I'm getting off this site for him (he has no computor) Could always donate the funds to the site. -
Glad to hear your spirits are up. Gave me something to smile about because it been raining here all day and could not ride. Gil

Putting LED lights in rear crash bar reflectors tomorrow on friends 08 Venture. What wire is the best to tie into once lead is run up under seat or to tail light ? Seen a post in here, that they blinked with turn signals and brake light. Don't want that. Just so they light up.

Friend just bought 08 Venture. Has around 1500 miles on it now and every time he rides his clutch hand turns black. It only takes about 10 miles of back road riding for this to happen. Getting worse the more miles he puts on. Dealer said he would check with rep about replacement. Friend thought this was not right for just a clutch lever. We think maybe the lever was not sealed (?) or coated correctly from factory. Any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks Gil

Try http://www.sausagemaker.com look at cookbooks--(The smoked foods cookbook) Friend has his own buther shop.We have smoked alot of meat. We get things from The Sausage Maker Inc. alot. I could always ask him questions if you would like. Gil

Good news. Sounds like everything is working out for the better. Keep us posted. Will keep all of you in our prayers.

I can understand that. My friend who just bought an 08 likes alot of things on my bike better and alot of things on his old 86 wing. After looking he decided on the venture because of looks over the wing. Personel preferance. Looking at everone's comments, some minor changes, (fuel injection,cd,maybe more hp)something would have been better than leaving it exactly the same. My friend misses the storage around the fairing for the rider. Maybe a mass mailing asking why the same would get some results. Gil

Since no-one seems to be happy with the the 09's. Maybe we could vote for the Admin. and Mon. to come up with a form letter that we could all print and sign and then send a mass mailing to Yamaha. We did this in Ohio because of what they were using to fill in the cracks on the roads. Made them very slippery when wet. Didn't do any good, but we all got responses back.

Listen closely, can you hear him in the garage going vroooom, vroooom, vroooom. :rotfl:AT least he got the color he wanted. We could send him a deck of cards also.:rotf:

Star Motorcycle 2009 Model Intro today at 3:00 PM EST
BuckShot replied to jpgivens's topic in Watering Hole
Went to my dealer this morning and he to was disappointed. His Yamaha rep has been telling him for the last few months that there would be changes to the 09's. Rep. made it sound more than different colors. I thought of buying new Venture, but now I don,t know. Always wanted a Harley. Wife said I could buy a new bike if I put the sidecar back on the old 86. I like the way she is thinking these days. Gil -
Sounds like nice trip and a good report and pics. Seems your better with the computer than you think. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone.

I think we all would like to see the faces of porch guy and his girlfriend when they see the video. Hope they got the trucks licence plate on video also,or can find some marks on it from your bike. Get them good for all of us. Hope everything works out.

Only been on this site sence July, but I think the Admin. and Mod. are doing a great job. I also have a hard time reading everything. There's certain subjects I don't discuss with the wife or family or friends. Hate to argue anymore, Life is to short. If I'm not argueing I have more time to ride.

Wife & I have a cabin rented in Hocking Hills for the weekend of Sept. 19 & 20. Wondered if anyone lives close. Won't have a lot of time, but maybe could get together for a meal and get to meet some members from this great group. Gil:banana:
