I'll second and third that--When you inviting us all over for some.

Well, I joined this sight and haven't met anyone in person yet. You all just sounded like you might be a bunch of misfits on two wheels that I could fit in with.

Saw it last night with the wife. Its a must watch.

Back in the mid 80's, along the Blue ridge parkway(somewhere), there were 2 motorcycle only campgrounds. They were just off the parkway a very short distance. I believe one was called High County Cycle Camp. Was just wondering if they were still there, and if they are still open. Gil

BuckShot replied to GG54172's topic in Riding Gear

Parking lot practice, Keep doing it. Last summer my son was having problems with the staggered cones for his motorcycle test. I floored him when I went thought the cones on my 86 venture. He was riding a sportster. I still play with mine every chance I get. By the way, your the same size I was when I bought my bike.

Put a phone book on the seat for her to sit on:rotf: That would look real good on that new trike (HE HE HE) Gil -
my pump runs about every 2 min. I have two crocks, first flows into second that is set as backup. My basement floor is 1 foot above water sand. I also keep in stock 2 new pumps and extra piping incase something goes out. Don't ask how I now know to keep extra around.

My wife was also nervous about riding. Take it very easy with her this summer. Let her learn how fun it is . She will find out your a safe rider and become more relaxed with each ride. Stopping at state parks, walking around holding hands and paying her lots of attention also helps, she will soon learn that bike ride is associated with attention, and for some reason they like that. After awhile you'll be able to twist the throttle more and more and scrape a few pegs. Just be ready for that helmet slap.:rotf:Someday I'll have to tell you about how my wife's hand was briused after about 5 miles of twisties.

Arm rest parts search
BuckShot replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Do you have a markland rider backrest on your bike. I have one on my 86 and if I remember right ( getting old you know) you replaced the passenger hand rails with ones from markland for the backrest. In which case you might not have a place to mount them anymore. The original passenger handrails kind of bolted together if I remember right. Would have to out to the barn and look at the bike for sure, and see if I can find my original handrails. Gil -
What about it Bill--Is there a table at the Hub ? If not, sound like you had better find one. The guys have to have a little time away from their better halves so they can talk about us.

Been riding some sort of motorcycle starting on dirt to when I turned 16 and bought a Honda 550. I remember my mom asking why I bought such a big bike. Told her I wanted to go on trips and this bike was big enough and yet small enough to enjoy around here. Also told her that I didn't want to be sitting in a rocking chair one day on the front porch and watch bikes go by and wish I had rode when I was younger. Few years later I bought a Honda 750 and rode it everywhere. Always got it out when the temps. reached 40 and didn't put it away untill untill the same. Met my wife and our first date was on that 750, which was in the middle of Oct. When spring arrived, she told me that some of her other boy friends had had bikes but she didn't ride much with them. I told her if she wanted to continue to see me, she would be riding because I parked the car for the summer. Going forward , we got married and we had always talked about a full dresser to travel on. Started looking, Wings, Kaws, BMW, Hd's, and Yam. (By the way, my wife's dad was the last acting president of the Throttle Twisters, a Harley club. out of Napoleon, Oh. ) We went with him to the HD shop that a friend owned and I was offered a new FLT for 100.00 over invoice. Just couldn't afford the insurance. New wife and house you know. The wife and I was debating between the wing and yam. when she saw this black and gold 86 VR. I liked the VR better than the wing anyway, and she said that it looked RICH and she loved the color. Bought that bike and we took our honeymoon on it,later we put a sidecar on it for the kids. Now the sidecar is off, my son rides a sportster,my daughter can't wait till her car is paid for so she can by a bike and we are still on that old 86, still in love and in love with the bike. A word to the wise, don't offer me money for it while she is within earshot, unless you have your life insurance paid in full. I quit telling her about offers because she takes it out on me.

I remember back in 19 and 86--or was it 87 , what alot of this stuff sold for new. Prices wouldn't be so high if Yamaha would have released acc. from Drag Specialties to be sold aftermarket, like Honda. Guess I'm telling my age.

Glad to hear your hanging tough. The decent people of this country need to start standing up for themselves and others, and quit letting the criminals get away with everything. The heck with their rights--What about ours.

No guts--at least you got peoples attention. The old timer that invited me on my first poker run rode his bike year round here in northern Ohio. I would be going to work with 2 inches of snow on the road and he would be comeing home from his night shift. He rode up to the last 6 months before he passed. Wish I was that tough. Gil
