Some states don't charge sales tax at all and then some have a really low sales tax. Here in Ohio the different county's inside the state have different tax rates. I live where 3 counties come together--1/2 mile north of Henry and 3 miles west of Lucas in Fulton county. Sales tax in Fulton is 1 1/2% lower I believe than Lucas. Save's a little by liveing in Fulton when I buy something large like a bike, car, boat, etc.

BuckShot replied to Cruser's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The Rotella T 15-40 will work in the bike fine. Useing syn. I would defenetley go with a 20w50. Been running Golden Sprectro sence the first 1000 mile service. There are alot of other very good sny oils out there. -
You do realize that if Freebird-Buzman and I ride out,you will have to ride out also on the bike. No fair trailering

Newbie (again) rider seeking ride setting advice
BuckShot replied to VentureBob's topic in Watering Hole
I have an 86 VR . I like a stiff ride but ride 2 up alot. Front forks set at 10 lbs and back at 40. Together we weigh around 350. Even pulling a 350 lb trailer the front is set around 12 lbs and back about 45-50. -

I think Annie needs to throw a design in the hat.

raises me up maybe 1/2 to 1 inch. At first felt like it put me up to high, but 5 miles down the road didn't notice and does help me on the longer rides.
-
Nice looking bike. Wishing you many happy miles, and welcome to the family.

Last week Wallyworld had 6 or 8 here. I'll check this weekend. If they have some how many want one? Mine was $20.00 and I could pick them up --just pay me for them plus shiping.

That is a great looking camper. Hardly looks used at all.

It always takes awhile for me to get somewhat comfortable riding in the rain because I don't do it often enough. I do feel the roads get a little slippery in the rain so I slow down and keep going, but I'm not going to get crazy with speed like I have seen some do. I'll get there sometime. If your tires are known to be slippery in the rain you may want to try a different brand when its time for new ones. Oh-and I have pulled a trailer sence 86 also, and find its no different in my minds eye with it on or off in the rain.
-
What kind of tires do you have on the bike? On my 86 I always ran dunlop touring elite and never had much of a problem, tho I do slow down. I have E3 on now and have not been in the rain with them yet to rate them
-
Dianne--Glad to hear the good news. Will keep you both in our thoughts and prayer's.
-
Don't let the trailer sit--load it up and go. Just ride a little more defensively and give yourself more space in between and more distance to stop. You will get used to it in no time.

Seen an 08 RSV in Wauseon,OH tonight that I haven't seen in the area before. Couldn't turn around, but later I seen the same bike in Fayette and was able to turn around and low and behold he was already a member here. Only able to talk with Jerry and his wife for a short time because they had to be somewhere. Jerry--it was nice meeting you and we will have to get together like we talked.

Dianne---Tell Oldgoat to do what the doctors say. Keep him in line. You are both part of this family and our thoughts and prayer's are with you.
-
Welcome to the family. Alot have put both on their bikes. Oh, and we need pics of the new bike also---its mandatory ---pics of everything, you will find that out the more you hang out here.
