  1. Buying myself a Christmas gift. Looking at a Cortech Fusion textile jacket and wondering what your opinions will be? I ride mostly back and forth to work in temps from 50 - 80 degrees normal temps in low 70's. Want a jacket thats light and water resistant with some protection. this looks like it will fit the bill. Also I'm 5'11" and carry 260lbs. Will an XXL fit? Thanks
  2. Panda Check out these PEI websites, www.motorcyclepei.com, www.angelfire.com/pe/peimtc/ July and August are good times to visit as all the tourist attractions are open for business, September can be great if you're here for scenery and peace and quiet. June tends to be our rainy season and weather is unpredictable. There is one major rally the "Island Rally" each labour day weekend as well as assorted rides throughout the summer. Here's a link to an AMA story on a Maritime tour. http://home.ama-cycle.org/membersonly/magazine/story_dl.asp?id=431 Rick
  3. :rotf: Obviously BuddyRich 's wife doesn't get on this site or he would be dead dead dead. A buddy of mine built a single wheel trailer which attached to the bike's receiver with a U-joint coupling. He used a front wheel from a 400 suzuki and built a box and frame. When the bike leans so does the trailer and it follows the same track so if you avoid potholes etc with the bike the trailer misses them too. He went across Canada with it in July and put on 19000km with no problems. A rider from here lost his Gold Wing and trailer last June in Maine when the trailer slid out in the rain and pulled down the bike. He wasn't hurt too bad but the bike was severely damaged. I guess my point is for safety look into a single wheel design. I think there was posts here before with pics of this type of trailer. Rick
  4. $1100.00 for a tuneup ? What could they possibly do to the bike to justify that kind of money? and then to have the rear drive clicking ? I think I'm in the wrong business.
  5. Jack, If you hear back from the dealer let us know. It will be interesting what he says. I don't think there was a brand name on the package that I received was there any markings on yours?
  6. Jack, I think I got the same pads from Florida on ebay last year and just cleaned up the edge of the backing plate with a grinder and reamed out the holes. I have put 5000miles on them without any problem and they aren't showing much wear. My discs are also not getting grooves and the whole surface is shiny so contact is good. I plan on removing them to inspect over the winter but I am happy with the pads so far. I got the 3 sets for less than 1 set costs here in Canada but as always buyer beware and I am keeping a closer eye on them than I would have otherwise. My brakes are a bit spongy but that is because I have original brakelines and they need to be replaced.
  7. Doc_R I've got the same problem with my 84 and I just put my gloves on top of the helmet before I close the lid. I tried some foam tape but it wouldn't stay stuck so I settled for the gloves. There must be a better way though.
  8. AS far as I know there never was a recall for this but some were repaired under warranty. The second gear failure usually happened around 50K miles. The tech bulletin just tells the dealers to use the improved parts when doing the repair. Someone had requested this in another post but I thought it should be in the tech library as well. I will be doing the 2nd gear repair this winter and I also developed a noise in the middle gear area on Friday and don't know what I'm in for there. My bike has 84,000 km on it which is close to 50k miles.
  9. This is Tech Bulletin M85-014 which refers to the parts wear resulting in second gear failing. NOTE: The 2nd gear problem was fixed in 1985 after serial number 0001413 M85-014 Transmission Repair Diagnoisis Tips.pdf
  10. Another point to consider is the tire pressure on the sidewall is the tires Maximum inflation pressure. Your tires should be inflated to the pressure recommended by Yamaha or the tire manufacturer.(see below) So you weren't under inflated. Also on the load rating are you sure that is pounds and not kilograms. My Dunlop 404's are rated for 375kg which is over 800 lbs. KG x 2.2 = lbs. I agree with the others that you have a case for a warranty replacement, that tire was probably stored improperly or on display in an Arizona window. If the dealer won't take it back contact Avon directly. I've got an old tractor thats outside year round and the tires are 25 years old and they aren't cracked as bad as that Avon. Here's the recommendation on tire pressure from Avon's website.http://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/Fitments.asp - http://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifBike http://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifMake:YamahaCapacity:1200http://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifModel:XVZ 1200 T Venture RoyalType:TOURERhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifStart Year:1984End Year:1990http://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifCode:47 Ghttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gif http://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gif http://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifName:120/90-18 71H AM41 Venomhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifRims:MT2.50-18Size:120/90-18http://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifPressure:2.50bar (36psi)http://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gif http://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifName:140/90 B16 77H AM42 Venomhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifRims:MT3.00-16Size:140/90-16http://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/images/spacer.gifPressure:2.90bar (42psi) Rick
