CB & radio Antenna
Sideoftheroad replied to Sideoftheroad's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
That's correct. You can either buy 2 Firefly's or 1 Firefly and one AM/FM Good luck, post pics when you are done. Don't forget to have your CB SWR adjusted once it is all installed. And if I remember right, to do it correctly you will need at least a 25' circumference w/out any metal (like buildings, cars, etc...) around. It can interfere w/ the readings. -
CB & radio Antenna

Honestly not sure if you will get better reception or range w/ these. I was already thinking about doing the mod and when I lost my cb antenna was motivation enough to go ahead and do it. Will again have to refer to Bummer on this since he did all the connections and he can give you tips on higher quality connectors to look for too. I just had everything mounted in place for him to connect it all together. Again take note of the order of the parts in regards to how they are mounted on the bike now as it does make a difference. There was also reference to getting an am/fm and a cb antenna which is what I did instead of buying 2 of the same antennas Overall, just print out the info. from the Blue Dolphin site. It was pretty straight forward from what I remember. The 1st 3 are really the only parts you need from what I remember. You just need the other 2 if you want to replace your old cables 2 FL3B Firestik "Firefly" Antenna 2 203EZ - Fold Over Adapter Item: 203EZ 2 Stud Mount - #JBC930- Oversize 1 18" 18SMMPL Pre-made Coax Cable (CB) 1 128XMOTO29 RG-8X 12' Pre-made Coax Cable (AM/FM) You can also e-mail Marshall the site owner. He was great in answering questions. And of course on this board. Love this site. Very knowledgable people. Found some old e-mails. This is what I bought from Walcottcb.com JBC930 (2) Stud Mount - JBC930 - Oversize 18SMMPL (1) 18SMMPL - PL259 To Motorola Plug 18" Long (I don't remember using the cable but maybe I did. I will have to look through my spare parts box to see if I still have it) 203EZ (2) Antenna Fold Over Adapter - 203EZ Total cost from here was $72.00 An AM/FM antenna used to be made by Firestik instead of the Firefly. I know Marshall did tell me he would recommend that for AM/FM over the Firefly. He said on his '89 it increased the range by 20 miles. Only ting I didn't see what how tall antenna he had. The part # is AMFM3B antenna. From WestCoastMall.net. I e-mailed them 1st to make sure they had it in stock and at least at the time they did. 1 x FL3-B 3-Foot FireFly Antenna Tuneable Tip BLACK (FL3-B) 1 x AMFM3-B AM-FM Antenna (AMFM3-B) Total from here $38.00 -
If you think of it or if anyone else does something to eliminate the fogging, let me know.

I have e-mailed Scorpion a couple times now in regards to the 900. If you look again, they also have a snow version. If you already have the 900 you can buy a kit to convert it for snow. The face shield is electric. It will be similar to this which is for my 700 Snow Kit Here's the 900 snow version If you look at the accessories, you can definetly drop some $$$ on these helmets.

Just some clarification. From the video looks like the running light is working w/ the turn signal and brake light on w/out turn signals going. Just making sure you can have the brake light on the same time when using turn signals.

I just followed the bluedolphin link and bought the recommended parts. I also have the fold over antennas. I already had everything mounted but nothing actually connected together as far as the wires. As Bummer will tell you, make sure you note the order of the parts that you took off it does matter which side the rubber piece is on. Bummer was a great help in getting it all put together and getting the cb SWR adjusted. -
Glad everyone is ok. Wondering about the insurance side of this. Mentally instable person, might not be any use to sue him. If you file w/ your insurance co. there goes the premium. Like Randy said, keys left in the car? Probably go after the hospital?

I currently have the EXO-700 Silver Burst. Still shows in their catalog, but not on their web-site that I could find. Pretty good helmet IMO. I have the tinted face shield. It was already on the helmet when I bought it from the dealer so I got it for free and he gave me a new in the bag clear shield. Only issue I have is the tinted shield does fog when I am going at slow speeds or at a stop light. Going the speed limit, no problems. It does get worse the colder the temp. I pretty much don't use the clear shield so not sure about it. Just seems like there isn't enough ventilation up front by your mouth to keep it clear so I constantly have to lift the face shield to clear the fogging. Another thing is I think the 1st position when you lift the face shield is too high. If they put in another position between fully closed and the 1st position would be ideal to me.

Joe, Got instructions on how to do it?

I like it. Thinking about getting one for next year. Just wish they would come out w/ some graphics on it like their other helmets besides solid colors EXO-900

Star glide project

See, now why mess around w/ a Strat Deluxe (yes like the looks of that too) when all you have to do is remove the back end stuff and you end up w/ a great looking machine like that. Call it like you want, either a trunkless Venture or a full fairing tour deluxe. Got 2 thumbs up from me. -

I would say Bummer or check w/ Eric w/ the 144 group. I know he has sync'd Venture carbs before. I am sure either one will be more than happy to show you how to do it. Let me know if you find someone. I would like to learn too. Heck I am sure even Chuck or Kevin would show you too. -
Kevin (Waterbug) is this the same setup you have? Do you know if it is the same setup that Randy/Linda just bought too? They are on vacation or else I would ask them so I curious to know if you knew or not. If it is the same setup that Randy/Linda have, I know they are very happy w/ it.

Metzler ME 880 upgrade
Sideoftheroad replied to 920shrek1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Mine had 880's when I bought it. One of the tires was worn enough after about 4k to have them replaced. Nnot sure how many miles were on them before I bought the bike. I know at least 2 people that did the metzeler upgrades on their Roadliners. Don't think they even got 5k out of them before tires started chunking and what not. -
Funny you mention this. I get e-mails from them and Tiger Direct. Same prices & same customer reviews.

Did you try some tweezers or needle nose pliers? I have had cotton from ear swaps come off and stuck in my ear. Tweezers worked like a charm.

Or a STAR Trek movie with Ricardo Montalban. Remember Wrath of Khan? Kinda graphic but just found the reference: The Ceti Eel appears in the film [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_II:_The_Wrath_of_Khan]Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan[/ame]....The slime-covered larva will seek out a larger animal, enter its skull through the ear and wrap itself around the cerebral cortex. This causes the subject intense pain and makes them very susceptible to suggestion. As the larva grows, the host suffers from insanity and eventually, death Make you feel better Mini?

Suprised Waterbug hasn't jumped in on this one. Website http://www.blazewearusa.com/ that has heated clothes on sale (or at least did). I know Kevin (waterbug) bought gloves and vest for $150

Agree and also get a copy of your policy if you do not have one. It will tell you what is and is not covered. Might be something for the same cost that covers more (even at your age). There are insurance agents that represent one company or many different companies. I suggest finding one that uses different companies to get as much info. as you can.

Well guess they were partially right. Others mentioned the Stratoliner Deluxe. Pretty much looks like the Road Glide or Street Glide since it does not have a trunk or passenger sissybar. The fairing looks pretty streamlined on the Stratoliner. Looks good.
