I do sneeze, cough and get colds. thankfully that is the worse I get. I used to be the guy at work smirking because everyone around me was sick and not me. Guess getting old. Right now have something in the back of my throat that doesn't want to go away. Caused my voice to go horse for a while. At least most of that is gone now so I know I am getting better. If it sticks around too much longer probably will go see the doctor about boosting my immunity. Mucinex PM has been helping. Have hesitations on getting a live virus. Thanks for the previous clarification on injection is dead, inhale is live. I do sometimes think our society is becoming obsessive about being clean. Wash hands, use handsanitizer, etc...I will admit I do it too, but it is like trying to live in a sterile environment and once a bug gets introduced, you get knocked on your a$$ because your immune system is not building the immunity it needs to fight it off because of all the cleaniness. It's ok to get dirty. Never got a flu shot in my life until last year at the request of my wife. Haven't gotten one this year. Still debating. I watch the Sunday morning show and they had a series on the h1n1 shot. they said something about a herd affect. If everyone around you gets the shot and they stay healthy, you stay healthy too even though you did not get the vaccine. A high majority of the population around you has to get the vaccine in order for this herd affect to hold true. They said if there is a low majority of the population that gets the vaccine then you are still likely to contract it because you are being infected by the majority who are sick.

Metzeler 880 corporate irresponsibility sends me to darkside
Sideoftheroad replied to jonsmyth's topic in Watering Hole
They do it in the health insurance biz too. Lame example, but I think you will get the point. Doctor will give someone tylenol as heart attack prevention. If you have a heart/stroke policy that pays for medication, willing to bet insurance co. won't pay because tylenol is not specifically designed for heart attack prevention. Overall gotta read the policy language. That is what's in writing. If you don't have it in writing, get a policy amendment to include car tires on your scoot. -
Looks like I will have to wait another 3 weeks to watch it. Used to watch S.P. back in the early days before the movie came out. Lost interest after the movie came out.

Gees, guess I need to explore the site more often. I didn't even know there was a joke section. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

I wanted to revive the post a bit. I e-mailed scorpion about the condensation issue. They said they redesigned the plate that has an extra notch on it. The extra notch will allow you to slightly open the helmet to let the condensation escape. As it is now, the 1st notch opens it up to where alot of cold air comes into the helmet. They are sending me new plates for free. That's awesome.

I was talking to a long time STAR member recently. He said he wouldn't be suprised if they phase out the Venture. What he noticed is Yamaha will phase out a bike and then reintroduce an updated version a few years later.

And who wanted the bailout to go to corporate america? Wonder what he got in return?

Can't say I am not CC debt free either. If I had used most if not all my tax money for the past 2 years and with this upcoming year (providing I get anything back), I would be. Part of our issue is that we use the tax money for things like vacation, auto insurance and other things. Gonna start this upcoming year what I should have done 2 yrs ago. A friend of mine had an issue with Citibank a few years back. He lost his job, he called and all his other debtors understood and were willing to work with him. Citi was not. They said not only do you now owe us the entire balance you owe it in 24-48 hrs or they will sue. Long story short, he felt he had no choice but to file bankruptcy. Now they got nothing. They had to wipe the debt clean. Serves 'em right for not working with him, but better believe they stuck it to someone else for it. Got to recoup the money somehow. Also I am willing to bet part of the issue is you said you hadn't used it in 2 yrs. Bet there is something in the contract about raising interest or payment if you don't use it. They are in the business to keep you in debt. My biggest issue has been with Discover card. Been a long time member. Had a fixed interest and one day I caught they changed it to a variable interest. Called them and at least from what I remember they said they changed it back. Well down they road they put it back on variable again. I know it's bad, but gave up in fighting it. Hoping it will be one of the 1st cards I get paid off and be done w/ them.

Was just talking about this to a co-worker today I had 2 older brothers and by older I mean 8 & 10 yrs older. So no need for a parental unit to escort us. I am sure some kids did have parents walk with them but stood at the end of the driveway waiting for them. If I am standing in the middle of my parents driveway I knew all the neigbhors (at least 20 houses at least if not more) to the left of our house and very few to the right other than my brother's friends. Overall we have several subdivisions all connected together. We could be out for hours trick or treating. Neighbors parents would dress up and to a little kid scare the bejesus out of ya. Also seems like trick or treating started when it was dark. Now they do it in daylight and stop when it gets dark. Parents (and of course kids) never had a worry about predators, including individuals in professions that thought would never have to worry about them. They are the good guys. You name it, doesn't matter what the profession. I myself was a latchkey kid in elementary school. Used to walk home from school. Parents would tell stories of us kids as babies crawling out the front door to the middle of the street or running away to us was going to the end of the street. I will fully admit that in today's society I want my children to be safe. I am trying to find that balance of them having fun as much as possible w/out her feel like we are smothering them. No way would I let them walk out the front door by themselves unless we can see them. All good in the back yard since it is fenced in. I may be inside and them out but don't expect me to go something that would take a couple hours while they play alone outside (besides I want to play too). I will try and keep them out of situations that would promote being harmed by another individual And the harsh reality is, if someone wants to harm a child, they will find a way no matter what. Goes along w/ another favorite kid past time flashlight tag. Loved playing that.

just a quick fyi...I e-mailed Sunpro (Actron) about a 1.5" tach. They said they don't have anything in the works but would forward the info. on for consideration. Did this with some aftermarket shock companies too. Don't remember which one is which but one gave pretty short sweet answer "no" and the other also said they would put put it on some board for consideration. Heck at least they would consider it. Thought that is better than nothing.

Just got a used Clearview Large off another STAR member. Definetly blocks the wind. Haven't had a need to use the vent yet but previous owner used screen door mesh to keep the bugs from coming through the vent. I was going to post this seperately but I will ask here. Anyone put anything on their windshield to get the rain to roll off? Ride home today the rain pretty much stuck to the shield making it a little difficult to look through.

Geesh. Wish I had been on this site over a year ago. I had a 2000(?) Ford Escort ZX2. Honestly I really liked it (even for a Ford IMO-I have not had good luck w/ Ford products) except for the engine issues. At times I could put the accelerator all the way down and the car would only go like 15 mph then all of a sudden it acted like it was catching up and then took off. Also it would jerk back and forth like someone just learning how to drive a stick and not using enough accelerator. Took it to autozone they got the code from it. Then took it to the dealer to look at and told them. They tried to downplay what autozone could do. Just by pure coincidence (lol) the code the dealer came up w/ and the code that Autozone came up with were the same. Gee imagine that. I didn't let the dealer fix the car. Instead I got new plugs, new plug wires and a new coil pack. It worked just fine for I think about a year then it started acting up again. Best I could figure is bad engine design. The coil pack was on top and towards the front so best guess was during rain (moisture I guess I should say) would kick back up towards the coil pack causing it to go bad? Found a ZX2 forum and discovered this isn't an uncommon problem unfortunately. Got tired w/ dealing w/ the issue so I got rid of it. About a month before I got rid of it the automatic shifter started sticking too. It was an easy fix on my end, there was a little round hole on the floor console all you had to do was take the cover off and stick a screw driver down in there and whalla you can shift again. Not sure why the hole was there other than Ford must have known about the issue and decided to use a band aid as a fix. Found out later all I had to do was take out the floor console and clean up all the gunk underneath it around the shifter. Also the 1st and only winter I had it, snow just started to fall, not much on the road, went over a small bridge, did a fishtail and a 180. Had a change my shorts after that one. Put some sand bags in the trunk and it did better after that. Inexpensive nimble car with good fuel mileage but terrible engine issue. I just couldn't deal w/ it anymore so I got rid of it. Here are a couple pics. Wondered if anyone ever did a double take due to my decal. http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc121/lylejt/Other/ZX2/3ba7.jpg http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc121/lylejt/Other/ZX2/175e.jpg

Dave, I can say from the link you provided the Syncpro is not what he had. Might have been an different version from the same company?

Waterbug and MarinerFan might know whom I am talking about but we had a STAR member put some sort of trailer hitch platform on the back of his Silverado to haul his brand new Venture out to Arizona. We all kept telling him to figure something else out as w/ the weight of the bike the platform it was sitting on was about 3-4 inches from the ground and the Venture was leaning left (towards the ground). The platform he had seemed to be made for hauling motorcycles (maybe just not as heavy as one) and to be used w/ a hitch, but it was obviously not safe. It had a heavy duty cylinder on it to raise/lower the platform but don't believe it was electrically driven? Another member followed him home that day about 30 minutes away. He said the platform did bottom out a few times. He can be very stubborn so I am sure he still used it. I believe it made it out there and back at least. He for whatever reason did not want to use a trailer. I think it had to do w/ if he had to back it up and such. I realize there is a certain finese and patience to backing up a trailer. I was gonna mention this to him but doubt he would go for it due to cost. Not sure how much he paid for the platform.

That's awesome.

Was on a group ride this weekend and someone mentioned about a cheap mod we can do on the Venture to gain a couple hp. He said the Vmax is (or was) already setup like this. I don't remember the entire name but the last word was Ram. Something about tying the left 2 cylinders together and tying the right 2 cylinders together. Might be something as simple as taking a tube and connect to the spots where you connect the carbtune to. He said it works great in warm weather but will take longer for the engine to warm up in colder weather. Anyone heard of this? Not sure if I want to do this or not, but I would be interested in researching it at least.

Had my bike serviced recently where part of it is supposed to be carbs synched. I also wanted to verify it against the dealer. Friend of mine (also a car mechanic) that has one and also helped synch them before w/ the previous bike owner. Don't remember the full brand name but it is yellow and says pro. I want to say something like Motion Pro? Anyway it was close but wasn't synched just right. Friend got me fixed right up in about 10 minutes. Hit the highway to head home and with the little adjustment he did it made a big difference.

If it has a radio display it has CB. If no radio display, the dealer robbed it (probably to fix another bike). In that case, being an '08 its' under warranty. Ask for a purchase price discount, take pictures and what not while on the dealers floor (make sure date stamped too). After purchase when it goes back to the mechanics for prep, make them order a new unit under warranty.

'04 Venture Fairing
Sideoftheroad replied to Sideoftheroad's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I just think the post is somewhat misleading as this is definetly not a '04 Venture fairing. Anyone else think it is ironic it's being passed off for a Jap bike part but the rug says "The World's Finest Products for Harley Davidson" -
Guess they made different fairings for the '04 '04 Venture Fairing

New Antenna Installs
Sideoftheroad replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Glad to hear Seaking. I am sure with help from members of the board you won't have to wait a month to get your SWR set. Maybe you can borrow your friends meter and members on the board can assist in getting it set. You don't want to let the magic blue smoke out. -
New Antenna Installs
Sideoftheroad replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well I tried. LOL. I just thought I remembered an old posting of yours w/ the antenna's switched. Guess not. Have you checked the manual out to see if there is anything in there about the cb error message?
