barend, I do know that HF does have a trailer (not necessarily a mc trailer) for $200 and right now it is 20% off. Not sure if Northern Tool has one too. I have looked at Tractor Supply and theirs are more expensive. $200 HF trailer Here is a $200 one from Northern Tool $200 NT trailer

Dano, Got a C64 in the basement as well. Haven't hooked it up in years, but remember doing my school work on it.

Need a windshield and lucky to be alive... (Anderson, IN)

Slick, Talked to the corp. office last night and they told me I would have to talk to the local office about it as they don't determine rate increases. As far as at fault this is in regards to a leaking roof which caused garage ceiling damage. So someone has to come out and determine normal wear/tear (not covered by policy) or due to snow and ice (covered). Funny thing is they said if the local branch wasn't able to tell about a rate increase they can talk to the underwriters located in a regional office. Anywho back to the normal scheduled programming. Did you get new windshield and up on the road again? -

I agree w/ that. As I stated won't say that is true in every case. I called my local state farm branch. That is what they are saying. Maybe a call to the corporate office is in order, but I would like the names of companies that don't raise your premium a dime whether you submit 1 or even 100 payable claims. Whether it be home or auto. State Farm is also the company my niece has been having to deal with. -

Just got off the phone w/our ins. co. As expected, if you file a claim, we will raise your premium. It won't cost extra to have an adjuster look at it but if there is a claim (meaning something coverable by the policy) then they will raise the premium if you tell them to proceed with the claim. I just don't get it. -

Slick, Not gonna say true in every single case, but just hear too often of the ones the ins. co drags their feet on or don't pay. I am sure I have posted the one previously about my friend who had to sue his ins. co. to get anything even though he had a letter from them stating it was not his fault. They later tried to say it was his fault and they weren't going to give him anything. After he got a lawyer and after the surgeries and what not, ins. co said they will settle for $2500. They gave the ins. co. the letter and ended up being from a claims supervisor. Settelment went from $2,500 to $25,000. Especially if you have a letter from the company no way in the world should the company try to come back and say it is your fault (despite what the letter says) and we aren't gonna pay. Another ins. co. is giving my niece and her fiance a hard time when their house got broken into a few months ago. They gave a sworn written statement way back when this started and now have to do a disposition this week. The ins. co. is focusing on them while the cops are suspecting his ex-wife and her brother (who has a record). Funny enough ex-wife turned in one of the items to the ins. co. and no one has been arrested yet but cops have suspected them since the beginning. They lost 12k, they talked to one lawyer and basically even if they get 12k, lawyer pretty much takes most if not all of it. I told them to talk to another one. Dad said tell the ins. company anything you need to know is in my 1st statement and refer to that. Fiance called the corp. headquarters and apparently it is in their contract that have to cooperate fully or claim will be denied. Also the ins. co. has 60 days to make a decision or else they have to pay up. Well 60 days is tomorrow and the disposition is after 60 days. They were told they have had some cases taking a couple years. How can you have something in a legal binding contract that says have 60 days or else have to pay and still not pay after a couple years. This is something else I don't get about ins. companies. If you file a claim, why do they raise your premium. That defeats the purpose of having ins. It is a great discourager to file a claim. Few years back was in a small fender bender in that my car was backed into in a parking lot. My ins. company said not to file w/ us or else we will raise your premium. This Saturday, snow melted on my roof causing water to leak in the garage. I had water dripping off a light bulb. Huge Fire hazard. We have shut off the electricity to the garage which also turns off some of the lights in the house. Not that big a deal but an inconvenience nevertheless. We manually lock the garage door going out and in and there are other lights that do work in the house that can cover for the ones that are shut off. So I have a leaking roof somewhere and garage ceiling damage. I am going to call the ins. company but I know they will say if you file, we will raise your premium. -

Yeah that's where the acts of god stuff comes in. It's in our homeowner's insurance. Unless it is the 2nd coming, don't see how anything else can be an act of God (sorta speak). Not gonna get in a religious debate but don't see weather as act of God. Glad you guys are ok. -
I am not suprised. GE money bank does (or did) older vehicles w/out collateral.

I have been looking at the even older Streetpilot's on e-bay. Been outbid and final prices have been around $300 w/ everything that came in the box.

Seeing how there are like 5 or 6 options, which HF trailer did people buy? I like the aluma and other trailers it's just it would probably take at least 3 yrs to build that kinda cash. I like the idea of buying something for the intended purpose of being a motorycle trailer vs. modifying a trailer to use it for the bike. But many other people have not had issues by modifying the trailer so there is comfort in that. I still like the black one but one concern is if I cut it to make it not so wide that means I would have to cut the diamond plating too. I could cut it, just not into doing it. Also if you look at the picture it looks like something is going across it so it is not giving a level surface to mount the carrier to. If that is the case, that would not be the ideal one I wouldn't think. They have one that has a carrier on it. I don't need 2 of them so I was trying to figure out which trailer they are using and see if they have one w/out carrier. From what I have been reading, by extending the tongue, that reduces any swaying the trailer may have while riding? If so, how many of you have extended the tongue and by how much?

Thanks for the info and the links/pics. skydoc, I thought it was preferable to have the trailer level whether trailering by bike or car. Never thought about having the back end of the trailer slightly higher than the front end (assuming that is what you meant by pitched forward). Guess that makes sense so that the tongue puts a little pressure down on the hitch ball to help it stay where it should. beer30, you just wanted to use that word didn't ya? LOL. tx2sturgis, interesting thought on easier to brake w/ smaller tires. Why is it easier w/ smaller tires (less friction?). I would have thought it would be easier to move w/ larger tires, but we are talking about braking. What do you consider good bearing grease. Honda Moly (if I want to go w/ a more expensive route)? No matter which wheel size I go w/ 8" or 12" not necessarily worried about fancy rims, etc... Couple more questions. Some people cut their HF trailer to make it not so wide. What is the purpose of doing this? Would seem better to have it as wide as possible for stability of the trailer (and maybe bike/trailer combo too). I have been looking at a lot of trailer companies and none seem to be that wide. Here is a link I want to share too which is just one of a few I have. Some of the links on this site do not work. http://www.aerobourne.com/motorcycletrailerindex9.htm Is it a personal preference in regards to having a swivel hitch? I think that is what it is called. Being able to lean the bike somewhat while the trailer stays level. Any dangers in not having it? Any dangers in having it? If on a long trip and want to unhitch it so you can ride w/out the trailer, what do you do for security to make sure the trailer is still there when you get back? I do understand too that if someone wants to take it, they will find a way. Please share which trailer you bought and why. Pics welcome too. Can send them to my e-mail addy if you don't want to post them on the board lylejt@yahoo.com Like I mentioned before I like the black one from HF partly because it is black and don't have to repaint. It also already comes w/ the diamond plating. black HF trailer I see that it does not mention anything about what type of suspension it has (if any). Some (not all) mention leaf spring. Overall thoughts on that one vs. the others? Any other thoughts/suggestions?

How do you tell the speed rating for trailer tires? Easy enough on car tires, but can't seem to find info. for trailer tires. Been looking at doing the harbour freight mod. They have a black one now for $280 and in my AAA magazine got a 20% coupon. Has 12 inch tires, but interested to know what the speed rating is. Also been checking out 13" rims on e-bay. Didn't think cars used tires that small but apparently they do. Would be ideal to me to swap out tires for 13" car tires. That would leave any doubt about the speed rating.

Is the video on Utube? Someone I work with used to date a member of a group called Straight No Chaser. They were together while in college. The group broke up after they graduated. One of them put the video on Utube and next thing they know they got signed to a record deal. At least this is according to my co-worker. I can at least imagine that there are record lables searching on sites like Utube for talent.

Dang, How did you score a 2730 for that low? I have been looking every once in a while and can't seem to find them low enough. There's only one on e-bay right now, 3 days left and already $100.

Any tools to make a brake job easier in regards to pushing the pistons back? I have read the tech articles and even talked to a local mechanic. I did it a few months back and it was a PITA pushing them back. I haven't put the bike on the stand yet to check for uneven pad wear which from my understanding a potential sign of a botched brake job and needing a caliper to be rebuilt. Thanks

I could be comparing apples to oranges, but just trying to compare it to outside temperature. Outside temperature of 95-105 degrees is not comfortable.

If you cut your foot off, that is guaranteed 100% to cure it. I think I have it too. Thanks for the tips.

A comfortable 95-105 degrees? Sounds awefully hot to me.

I think it depends on what you call a good pc. People will spend thousands upon thousands of $$$ for components to make it a good gaming machine when they could just buy one of the gaming platforms already mentioned. I have probably a 5 yr old e-machine. Not gonna try games on it for obvious reasons. Don't have $$$ to get an x-box, Wii, or PS3 even with prices coming down. So for now will stick to my PS2, N64, SNES, NES, & Commodore 64. Ok only the PS2 and N64 are hooked up. But the others were fun when I was playing them.

sounds strange but has she ran the radio and rear defrost at the same time. I had a 2001 Impala, the rear window defrost is also tied into the radio. If you have a break in the grid you will get static over your radio. Small but rather annoying issue when I had it. You could tell where the break was since it was the only spot on the rear window that didn't defrost. Also I believe it shared the same engine as my '99 Buick Lesabre, probably w/ a couple updates. They both had the same engine markings Mark IV or something like that if I remember right. Will have to look at the Buick engine again. Tell her Congrats and I am sure she will enjoy it.
