  1. Clever name Backseatdriver I am going to STAR Days and planning on doing the Swamp Azz ride. Don't know the route but they are talking about Cherahola Skyway. I am wanting to do Jack Daniels Distillery again. Not so sure about Tail of the Dragon. I was on a VTX in '07 and kinda want to see how it will be different on a Venture, but then again was dissapointed the 1st time around. From what I have heard the Indy members are taking a 1100 mile detour to get there. Leaving Saturday and arriving Monday afternoon. Us Westfielders are just making a straight shot Monday am.
  2. Beat me to it. I think you will be happier w/ the Firestiks IMO. I think they look better than stock whether single or dual. Bummer can give you more details on the performance difference of 1 vs. 2, but thinking lately if you must have 2 for looks, do a single conversion and then use a 2nd as a dummy antenna.
  3. Got any Bocephus?
  4. Dave, Didn't think about it until I looked down, but I already have a couple of them. It is the pretty much the same shape as a CPU stand. There are others out there that have flat bottoms but as you can see mine has a channel on the end and then comes up. http://i.ebayimg.com/04/!BwyE+OgB2k~$(KGrHqUOKiMEwQ70HZ3QBMKkhH0Nc!~~_35.JPG
  5. So if regular oil fixes the issue, then why does the engine have to be torn apart? Why not just do an oil change. I have 69k on my '99. I didn't think it was broken in until at least 80k
  6. I remember coming across that post some time ago. Probably when I 1st was looking into trailers. After talking with Ponch, at least for my trip coming up I am sticking w/ the furniture dolly. I have attached some pics of it all finished. After my 5 day trip I have coming up in about 3 weeks to STAR Days, I will look into a more permanent solution like the creeper, other suggestions you fine folks have made or see if Ponch will make me one if/when he has time. Also I recently bought some shelves on wheels from work. They have been selling stuff from time to time as things get consolidated. Wife must have taken one of the shelves out as when I saw it out in the open a lightbulb came on. I put the cooler on top of it and it fits pretty well. Even has holes on the side for bungee cords. The metal is kinda thin but seems to be pretty sturdy. I tried flexing it and I couldn't. I have attached pics of the shelf too. And just now thinking about it even fireplace grates where you sit wood on top of would work. I saw one at Ace Hardware. Those are definetly heavy duty. Ponch mentioned flat adjustable bungee cords to me so I found some at Lowe's. They are stretched pretty tight, but work pretty well. The cooler really doesn't move at all. I found what looks to be heavy duty adjustable cords on the net, but the ones that I bought should work just fine. I am not sure of the brand though. http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/tools/df72/#description I had to remove the staples from the carpeting to get to the screws holding the castors attached to the dolly. Now that I know it is phillips head, if I ever have to do it again, I can just cut a slit where they screws are at and use a screwdriver instead of having to remove the carpet. I have a staple gun so no problems restapling the carpet. All in all I would say I have about $16-$17 in the furniture dolly, u-bolts and eyelets. Again what do you guys think (yes even the bad)
  7. I thought that rack was an option w/ those trailers. Hmmmm Guess not. Oh btw. My other idea is an auto creeper. Take out the pad in the middle and you basically have a wide basket. Saw one at Menards for $18 that is the same brand as the furniture dolly. You might have to run some square tubing to have something to bolt to the trailer but I think it would work out pretty well too. Here's an example http://www.northerntool.com/images/product/images/145514_lg.jpg
  8. Dang. And to think I got my used non-tag-a-long put together HF trailer for $275. Oh well. Win some, Lose some.
  9. Couple of great reasons why I asked. Yes it is a furniture dolly. It was only $14 and figured buy it, take it home, and if it doesn't seem like it will work, return it (before I actually do anything to it). Didn't think about the carpet holding moisture. Looked at BBQ racks last night and pretty much found porcelein ones. Found some round racks, but not quite what I am looking for. I will check out the walmart racks. Got one other idea too. I will post here again later to see what you guys think.
  10. Thougths anyone? Even if you think it is a bad idea, let me know. Would rather hear someone say what are you thinking and why than to find out going down the highway.
  11. So was in Menards and bought this for $14. Not settled on any one thing yet but it is solid and thought this might be good. I think all I have to do is drill a couple holes for the 3" wide square u-bolts for lumber I found. Remove the castors and I can put eyelets in it so bungees have a place to attach to. What are your thoughts?
  12. Thanks Dave, I know what you mean about sound creating fatigue. Our house is non-stop sound (wife, 3 kids, 2 dogs) and I am tired all the time.
  13. send a PM to Waterbug (Kevin) he recently painted his and he works for an auto body shop.
  14. Dave W/Wayne, Would you feel comfortable using a cooler as big as Dave77459's? Reason why I ask is I have seen that on the net too. I know the e-bay description says adjusts for any size cooler but the web-site (providing it is for the same seller) says small coolers http://motorcycletrailer.com/icb/
  15. Dave, You have a part #? I found academy online but didn't find the bbq grate. I imagine anyplace like lowe's/home depot/menards has the same thing. My cooler isn't quite as big as the one in your 2nd picture. If you say it is solid with that big cooler on it then I say it is worth a look. I was in the kitchen and saw the cookie sheet. Tried to flex it and it didn't so it is making me wonder too
  16. Any ideas for a cheap cooler rack for my HF trailer? Seen a few posting about als motorcycle accessories. Doesn't appear the website works anymore so maybe he's not doing them anymore.
  17. Friend of mine Bob (Mariner Fan) talked to me about taking my seat with him so Rick can do his magic on my seat. I e-mailed and sent PM's to Rick. Rick wanted to do a very limited # of seats so he and his wife could take time and enjoy MD. I completely missed some important info. in one of his pm's until I re-read it a few days later. I responded back to him and Rick agreed anyway to do my seat. Just wanting to let Rick know I really appreciate him taking extra time out from MD to also do my seat. I got my seat from Bob on Saturday and got in a 45-60 minute ride. So far so good. It will get a really good test ride when I head to Chattanooga TN in about 3 weeks.
  18. Yup. That's what I get. Speedo is 5mph higher than GPS, no matter what speed. I guess except if I am at a stand still. GPS reads 0 too.
  19. Utah I think. Oh wait that is where you get more wives. What would have been great is if someone had an empty seat, picked up Bobbie and pulled up next to Sleeperhawk. Can only imagine the look on his face when he thinks how did she get over there.
  20. just wondering if anyone has info. on how the bike should be wired for a 5 wire flat plug. Left signal, Right Signal and ground are easy enough. I want to concentrate on the brown and blue wire and what they should be connected to on the bike. Just going over the wiring to make sure it was done properly from the previous owner.
  21. Which drink holder do you have (and it has to save mpg too ) I know I probably won't get a lot of responses right now due to MD, but gotta ask while I am still thinking about it.
  22. LOL. Touche' Can't wait to get the seat back and feel the difference. Have a safe trip.
  23. If we swapped seats, wouldn't have had to figure that out. LOL :-)
