I recently switched out the clear for amber bulbs. On the way to the dealer for service I noticed that my signals were not working. So I pulled over and the rears were not lit at all but the fronts were acting like running lights. They were on, but would not flash when I flipped the switch to indicate I was turning. Any ideas what would cause this. I mentioned it to the service guy and (at my request) they said they would check to make sure a bulb hadn't come loose. Service guy said all was good, but I checked the signals before I left and they are working again. To me it seems like a bulb was loose after all. What do you guys think?

Well the chapter is officially closed and it didn't go well for them. I dropped the bike off and about 3.5 hrs called me back saying it was ready. Went to pick it up and they said it would be $386.xx (or something close to that). I said for what!!! They said for service. I said no, this was the last appointment for my pre-paid service. So I had to go through the spiel again w/ the same guy who just makes it seem to be a burden for anyone (or at least me) to have anything done there. Not sure if he was in the mood to argue or what have you (I on the other hand was in the mood for a fight if need be), but in the end he took off the charges and off I rode home.

Sorry for the hijack. Got a Garmin map question that maybe you all might now. I have a Streetpilot 2730 & 2820. I don't use the 2730 anymore but if I ever wanted to can I just copy the maps from the 2820 and install them on the 2730?

If you have a light bar, are the turn signals the stock ones and just relocated to the lightbar? Are the front and rear signal housing interchangable?

Good news. It was neither horn nor relay. I have a fuse block and the female spade terminal rocked its' way loose. It was pretty loose to begin with so I cut it off and put a new one on. It fits much tighter so I don't expect to have that issue again.

When I had it, I bought the Stebil from Bikerhiway. It was a good experience. They had some code for free shipping but don't remember it anymore and they may have a different code now.

Before they did the tire change did you sign anything? If so you need to look at the fine print if you haven't already. It might say they aren't responsible for any damage for any reason. I agree w/ the dual negligence but unless other stating so, they may not owe you anything. They may do something just for the PR.

Last night went to check out the relay and use another one to verify if the relay is the issue. Could have sworn I had another one. Searched all over and didn't find one. Gonna get one today. Was at Walmart and Meijer last night and they don't sell relay's by themselves I guess. So off to the auto store today. If all else fails Walmart had a wolo horn for about $36. Don't remember how much the stebil costs at this point.

If you have a light bar, are the turn signals the stock ones and just relocated to the lightbar? The lightbar was already on the bike when I bought it. Had an oops moment yesterday. I was taking off the old front amber lense (clutch side) to put on a new clear one. One screw was stubborn and didn't want to come out. The lense itself eventually broke and so did the screw. Unfortunately It broke pretty flush with the part that it screws into in the turn signal housing so only option was to drill out the screw. I will say that I am usually good at drilling out old bolts and such. Well this is one time I wasn't. I didn't have the correct angle so ended up drilling out completely part of the hole the screw goes into. So the option I see is replace the turn signal housing. I also want to get another amber lense in case I ever want to go back to stock or go to LED signals (thanks Freebird for the input on matching led color to lense for brightness). Are the front and rear signal housing interchangable? Any suggestions?

Impressed with the 100 LED rear light.

Wonder why they recommended that? I just installed smoke lenses for my rear turn signals and changed to amber bulbs. At least to me when using the turn signal it looks the same as clear bulb/amber lense. -
Gee. Didn't know they had a scooter show.

Not going to be able to make it this year. I think only 2 people (husband/wife) are going from our chapter and haven't heard about anyone from the Indy chapter (which anyone who knows the Indy chapter is unusual for them not to have a good showing) Everyone be safe and have fun.

Just bought the 32 led version for $25 from a fellow who sold his bike shortly after buying the LED. He just had it on his shelf and wanted to get rid of it. -
Are the fronts and rears the same size? My rears have blown and not interested in upgrading them so looking for another stock set.

PA. 2 brothers dead at the hands of a drunk retired cop.
Sideoftheroad replied to muaymendez1's topic in Watering Hole
This has a familiar ring to it but it was an on duty drunk cop killing a biker (worked for DFAS) -
On the plus side, this is the last I have to deal with them. Guess I will be calling Bummer asking how to do this and that. :-)

Wanted to post another update w/ my recent Dreyer experience. My Pit Pass (what they call their pre-paid service agreement) expired 06/28. I called at least 2 weeks if not more before it was to expire and said I don't think I will have enough mileage by the time it expires and didn't know if that would be an issue for them. The guy said if you are close, no big deal he would work with me if it goes past the 28th. So forward to the 28th, called and left a message. No return call. Called the 29th, left message, no return call. Called 07/05 and finally got ahold of someone. I told him the spiel of what me and the other person talked about. I was basically told if it is expired, too bad is his opinion but if I worked something out w/ another person then he knows nothing about it and he doesn't have time to return every message. I explained to him that this isn't anything new since I tried to resolve this previously. So the 2 individuals spoke and I got a message from the person I had the arrangement with. I called him back and was told the issues had been worked out, the 2nd person didn't realize we had a previous arrangement (really? guess he didn't believe me when I told him) and something about the phone not working right lately (just an excuse IMO). So i called the 2nd person back to make the appointment. I got grief again about how I could drop it off on Saturday and could pick up tuesday or wednesday (about 1/2 way through the service agreement he says this everytime but I have always been able to pick it up same day). i said the only way I can do this is drop it off and pick it up same day. He started to say something about how they have walk ins with oil changes and such so they are busy. Before I could get to my next point with the Pit Pass in that you get priority, which means I go to the front of the line, period. This was either part of the selling point or part of the contract itself, I will have to look. If he wanted to argue further my next point would have been instead of me going an hour out of my way to go to you, why don't I travel 20 minutes to another dealer and they can bill you. But before I could mention the last 2 things, he went off on another direction in that he looked what gets done for this service. He grumbled some more about having to let the bike sit for a couple hours to let it cool down, he finally came to the conclusion that it would be done same day. Just poor attitude in my opinion. At least the 1st guy I talked to is a good egg.

Gees you should have come up today, spent the night and then you could have rode with us to a city called Upland to a popular ice cream place called Ivanhoes. Not sure how many people are showing but some STAR chapters are going to meet there @ 12.

I don't like this personally. Just something about the line showing between the shields and also the knobs being there. I like the seamless look.

I'm an overacheiver I guess being in a higher gear at lower speeds. LOL. Took a major road this morning and got 3k at 70 mph. Also to make sure we are talking apples to apples, when I say 45, 50 & 70 mph this is looking at the speedo, not gps.

Sideoftheroad replied to ablumny's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I scored a used stock one of ebay for like $120. Have had it for a couple years now and no issues.
