Don't know if the newer models have been changed or not but there used to be complaints w/ the vstar 1300's when they 1st came out about the handlebars. Most people would use Tour Deluxe bars. Could also look at a Vstar 950. not sure if a used one would be in your price range. I also had a 04 Honda VTX 1300. It was good bike. Only problem I see is people that are trying to sell them are asking for prices for what dealers would sell for 2-3 yr old brand new leftovers.

Happy B-day. Bob how about a ride to rabbit hatch w/ Dano and the new scoot?

Forgot to add, parts guy at the dealership said he knows of the bad grounding issue too. Says it is usually 1 side, not both like mine. He called it high resistance level. He said not very common or else he would have the parts on hand. Well we have 3 examples here so I am thinking might not be commonly heard of from their dealership but I am gonna go out on a limb and say it is more common than what he may know.

So been calling around to auto parts places. No one carries the parts. I called the dealer and the socket is $83 + tax but the lamp housing is $64. Go figure. Anyway the socket is on ebay for 1/2 that. Grisolm1, where did you get yours for $35?

Anyone currently drive or used to own an Olds Silhouette, Chevy Venture or the like? I have an 03 Olds Silhouette that the left front turn signal bulb went out. Thought easy enough to change out (and it normally is). Well the bulb actually melted into the signal housing. If you look at the hole the bulb goes through, the entire circle is bubbling like the bulb gets too hot for the plastic housing. Looked at the right side and same thing with the bubbling. The issue is on the left side the socket the bulb plugs into got so hot it has what looks like burn marks around the socket and became brittle. So what happened is part of the socket broke in pieces so it was no longer held in place. So the bulb touched the side of the housing and melted to the side. Found replacement parts for the socket and housing. Even found led bulbs that I wonder if that would be cooler. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues?

I wish it was on the bike. Ok I guess family could be used as a loose term. :-) Yeah not planning on going on 116 (maybe they will all be asleep and I will take it LOL). We normally do interestate but this time decided for a change in scenary for a bit. I am sure those roads are much more scenic than the highway.

Had to look at the map again, meant I40 from 27/62/162. Would it be better just take 27 all the way to I40? These all sound like great roads even if it will be in a minvan full of screaming little ones. :-)

Vent on Kevin. We are here to listen. -
Taking a trip with the family in the future down to Dinosaur World in Bowling Green, staying in Sevierville for the night and then heading on to Surfside Beach the next day. Anyway thinking of going from Bowling Green heading East on (not sure of road name) to Somerset KY then south on 27 to Wartburg to 62 East to I75 to Knoxville to 411 to Sevierville. Can you tell me the name of the road that stretches from Glasgow Ky to Somerset and let me know what to expect (road condition, etc...) for the roads I mentioned after Somerset. Thanks

Had to get emergency custody of the kids!
Sideoftheroad replied to waterbug's topic in Watering Hole
Hopefully after Oct. this chapter of your life will be over and the kids will be with you permanently. If it does end up going down this path and court orders her to pay alimony, I wouldn't hold your breath for her to actually pay. In the long run it might be a good thing so to cut that tie to the ex forever. -
Awww schucks. Congrats Condor,

Just watched the documentary on tv. It gives you more appreciation of what our military service men and women did and do to sacrifice for our freedom. Thank you very much.

RSV Tach issues
Sideoftheroad replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I had an original Barons tach when they 1st starting selling them (original bike owner had it on the scoot when I bought the bike). It took a nose dive this year too. Found one of the 7 color ones used for $100 and has been working great. Yes it defaults to red even if you change the color, shut it off and turn it back on, it goes right back to red. Oh well, I really don't see the red in the daylight anyway. The guts you are referring to is 3" I believe. I asked them about a resevior mount like what I and buddyrich has and they just said it was too big for that. Just my opinion but it is the best place to put it. I don't think it sticks out that far. See if you can take your tach apart. I have read at least 1 thread about how someone else was having issues. They took it apart and found a broken wire. -
What a bike would look like if Predator rode one. I say we start an add your own caption thread.

Thanks for the tips guys. Gray Ghost. Thought I checked that but never hurts to recheck. I even changed the channel from 1 to 11. Still getting the issue but now I am getting an effect that is like bad chinese dubbing. MiCarl I tried searching for firmware. I think it is so old just not supported anymore. Linksys model BEFW11S4. Might have been made even before netflix came out. Not sure. Thanks for the info. Tx2. Freezy. Only issue is it is (wife's) company paid cable service. I would have to check whether they care if it is cable or DSL.

Check the oil level window towards the bottom right side of the bike. Should be between the 2 marks just a hair above the middle point. Anything above that will start to puke oil. Some (including myself) had actually mistaken it for a failed shock.

Anyone ever have issues hooking up your wii/netflix account to the internet wirelessly. When I 1st did it about a year ago the very 1st movie worked flawlessly. Ever since providing I can even connect w/out disconnecting the router power cord and plugging back in, it will literally lose the connection about every 18 minutes. I have tried everything I can think of and have pretty much given up trying to connect to netflix via the wii. I don't think is the router because I don't have this issue w/ the wireless laptop.

And with the aftermarket exhaust can sound like one too. I have been side by side some dodge pick up trucks around town and the difference is minimal. :-) Don't forget about weight differences too. Just my opinion, considering all things the same a 600 lb 1300cc scoot will outrun a 900 lb 1300cc scoot.

Has anybody retro fitted a harley seat to fit
Sideoftheroad replied to muaymendez1's topic in Watering Hole
There is actually one complaint everyone has after doing the butler mod...that they didn't do it sooner. -
From some of these pics it looks like the turn signals and/or brake lights are partially blocked. But I can see using a mount from Mel or 1-UP's pics and add that to the top of a trailer tongue.

If I remember right the part that sticks out from the bulb base, I installed the one that is higher up towards the back of the housing. What you are saying is I might have them in backwards? Thanks
