Good Morning Everyone, I would like to replace my stock passing light bulbs with a brighter halogen lamp. However i'm not interested in increasing the amount of wattage draw on the system. My question is, what lamp would you recommend for this application? I would like a nice wide pattern not a narrow beam. I was told the Silver Star would work, but I dont know which one to look for. I like the super bright white look compared to the yellow tungsten. Forgot to mention i have the sealed beam type ! Thank you in advance for your suggestions! Please ride safe Frank

Good Morning Everyone! My question is about the amount of time the turn signal flasher stays on before it self cancels. It seems to me mine stays on alot longer sometimes. Then other times it cancels quickly. Is there a set time for this proceedure to happen, or does it depend on the circumstance? Oh buy the way i'm talking about a 2008 RSV. Thanks and Ride Safe!

Good Morning Everyone, I see some beautiful after market pin striping on the farring of the Ventures. My question is where can those decals be purchased? I really like the look and i'm interested in decaling mine. Thanks

Well, i'm looking at my 08 Venture with 5k miles on it and saying it's to soon for a carb sync, it doesn't seem to run bad. But i'm going on a trip in a few weeks and it would be nice to at least check it. So i call around the local Stealers and they want $125 and up to perform this operation. Some told me I have to leave it overnight. It was then I decided I would buy the tool and attempt to do it myself. When the carb tool arrived, I read the instructions ( imagine that ) assembled the unit with all the hoses and was ready to go. I next asked for help from this forum, the information a got was very descriptive and made the job soooooo easy. The pictures and explanation was right on the money. The only way it could have been easier is if one of you came to my house and made the adjustments for me! This is a wealth of knowledge on this sight and i'm proud to be a part of it. Well it turnes out, my carbs were way out of sync. 1&2 werent even close and both banks were out from each other. I never would have thought a new bike with 5k on it needed a carb sync. I thought this thing ran great before, now it's a freekin rocket!! I want to thank you guys again for all the great information that enabled me to do this carb sync myself. I saved a bunch of money, I now own the tool, and the knowledge to do it myself!! Have a safe summer, and thanks again. Frank

So, are you saying the 1/8th jack on the cassette deck is an AUX in? I thought it was an AUX out for a headphone setup. I use the cassette adapter for my ipod. My question would be.....could I just plug the ipod into the AUX jack by the cassette deck and do away with the adapter? Have a safe summer! Thanks

I've had a Clarion CD player in the box for almost a year. I've heard good thinks and bad things about having a CD player in the trunk or side bag. It looks like a pain in the butt to install and i'm wondering if I should just do the I-pod thing throught the tape deck and be done with it. Does anyone use a CD player and if so is it worth the labor to install it? I want to avoid tearing half the bike apart only to have this thing skip all the time. I'd rather sell it while its still in the box and wrapped up nice. Thanks for your thoughts Frank

Hello, Hope everyone is enjoying the summer! I'm about to change the plugs in my 2008 Venture for the first time and was wondering if the stock plugs are the best choice? Is there a better spark plug i could use? If so, what would you suggest? I dont do alot of interstate riding, just the local state roads. Thanks and ride safe! Frank

Hello everyone, I'm in the process of purchasing a carb sync tool. What I dont understand is the 5 and 6mm adapters. Where do they go? I thought all that was needed was to pull the little vac plugs and push on the vac hoses! Do these adapters need to screw in the base of the carbs or what? Do I need them for my 08 Venture? A buddy has an 1100 V-Star and wants his carbs done also. Will he need the adapters too? Thanks so much in advance for the help!!

Now i know someone posted this before but, you know how it works, i can never find things when i need them so please bear with me. Does anyone know who makes an air pump with a gauge to be used on the shocks. I need it to be small enough to carry with me. i would like to try different pressures while i'm on the road to find the best combination. Thanks everyone and have a safe summer

Dave, Just purchased a 2008 RSV last spring and don't need the carbs synced yet, but when I do, I sure would like your help. I was going to buy the tool and try to do it myself. I'm only a few exits down from you towards Beaver Valley. As a matter of fact, I live in Beaver. So when the time comes, maybe you can teach me how. Thanks Dave Frank

What size auto tire are you installing on the rear? Does this tire fit directly on the stock rim? I heard of other people doing this but i was wondering about the square edge on the auto tire. How is the traction on bends when the tire rides on the edge? I understand it lasts a long time and the passenger is the one who feels it the most. Is this also true? Thanks

Hello everyone, Well the weather is finally breaking and we are getting our bikes ready for some summer riding fun. This year i was looking to install a pair of top saddle bag rails on the Venture, but I don't know where to purchase them! Would someone please direct me to a sight I could purchase from. My wife bought a pair from e-bay, but they must be for a Tour Delux cause they don't line up, or maybe i just don't know how to install them. Any information would be a big help! Thanks and have a safe summer!

Just a thought, but did you check the carb heaters? Maybe the previous owner disconnected them. Or maybe a fuse or electrical problem to the heaters. Good Luck and let us know!

Looks nice, but what are they? If I were to look for these, what department are they in? More information would help! Thanks -
Hello everybody, The weather here in Pa. seems to be colder longer that I'd like it to be. However, my question is, how many of you who live in a cold climate, start your bike up once or twice a month and let it warm up? Is this ok to do? I don't have a battery tender on it so I have been starting it up every once in a while. Buddy of mine says it will rust my pipes from the condensation. He suggests I leave it alone, that I might be doing more harm that good. I'm talking about an 08 Venture. What do you guys think? Thanks

I was wondering if it's a good idea to hide an extra key on the bike somewhere? How many of you do this now? It sure would come in handy if you lost the original while you were out somewhere. Thanks

Installing Road King mufflers
frankc replied to phochief's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Here is what I used and they work perfect. The clamps are from a company called V-twin. Here is the part number 31-9920. They are beautiful chrome and wide enough to cover the cap and stepped down to cover the slight size difference. 1 7/8 -1 3/4 Just go to their web sight and find a dealer near you. Expect to pay about $30. Gook Luck, you'll love the sound the the RK's -
Yamaha says nothing about a relay in their instructions for passing light installation. It shows a tap to a hot wire then to a switch. Is this how it would be done if the dealer installs the lights?

Can someone please direct me to the thread to bypass the ignition switch if it fails on the road. I know I saw it here at one time but i'm having trouble finding it now. I would like to get to know this process to be able to at leaset get the bike home if the igniton switch fails. Thanks Everyone

The same statement was made on the rad cover I bought, but It fit my 08 RSV just fine!

I agree with Ventureblue, fill er up and enjoy the ride!!! When it's low on fuel, fill er up again!!
-
Please don't think I'm stupid, but I read everyone using something called Seafoam. Now from the threads, I can see it has something to do with the fuel. Would someone please tell me what it does and where it can be pruchased! It seems everyone uses it. Thanks

Just installed a set of passing lights on the 08 Venture but now I have a slight whistle I didn't have before. Did this happen to anyone else? I'm sure it's the lights cause I didn't add anything else. Could it be possible the fairing is the culpret? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Are there any special proceedures needed to store the Venture away for the winter? Do I need to run the carbs dry, or can I just condition the fuel? Other than keeping the battery charged, and I dont run the carbs dry, should I start it once in awhile in the winter months? Thanks in advance for the helpful information

The wifie always gets cold and saw some heated clothing and gloves and the local leather shop. Now she thinks this the answer to her problem. Do these items really work or do I have to trailer a generator with welding cables to power them up? Thanks
