I totally agree with Squidley. It isn't for everyone. I have had to defend using a CT so much that I tend to sound like everyone should have one. But some, for some unknown reason so far, have the wobble and some feel that it handles differently and some just have a mental block on using one. My experience has been that it handles no differently than a bike tire other than it has much better traction. I've had no inkling of a wobble, at least up to and just over 100 mph... and mentally, it gives me a load more confidence because of the great grip and load rating. Load rating because me, wife and stuff come close to 500 lbs... me being the greater part of that. As far as road snakes and grooves, etc... I tend to aim for them just to see what it will do and the only time I feel much is patched areas that have a high irregular lip or really wide grooves but nothing that has felt uncontrollable. Anyway, there's no use to argue or put anyone down for running a CT... like has happened before. It's just a choice. Me, I like it.

I'm gonna take a WAG and say it's like most Japanese cars... not a tapered thread but standard straight threads. Probably a standard pitch 10mm (maybe 12mm) bolt with the rubber washer would work. And getting the old broken piece out... we used to heat a cheap screwdriver and let it melt into the plug then turn it out when it cooled.

Either stock or stock Harley mufflers. I've also heard Bubs and they aren't too bad.

Question about replacement fuel pump
BigBoyinMS replied to LilBeaver's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I also have a Road Star and I've done some research on the fuel pumps. (I think most of this info is correct but a lot of it I have gleaned from searching the web so verify before you take it for fact.)There isn't a lot of info but it seems that a LOT of metric bikes use the same Mitsubishi made pump that we do. In fact, as best I can tell the Roadie and the Royals use the same pump other than the Roadie pump has the outlet with a 90 degree bend. Also from what I can tell, the pumps aren't what goes bad; it's the contact points under the rubber boot on the pump. Just as the old fashioned points in a car distributor pit and stick so do the points on our pumps. And our pumps don't have the advantage of a condenser to buffer the arcing when the points open and close. And they also don't have the advantage of a resistor to drop the current to 6 volts like the auto distributors. I don't think using a condenser would be a problem but adding a resistor to drop the voltage would probably cause an issue with fuel pressure because (from what I understand) the points control the pressure. (1.5 - 2.0 PSI) It seems that as the pressure builds, a spring is put under tension until it finally holds the points open and shuts off the pump. I came across a KTM cycle forum where the guys have the same pump as far as I can tell and they have tested a lot of different pumps and have come up with a Facet 40171 as a good replacement pump. Here's a link to one of the post on their site. http://www.ktm950.info/how/fuel_pump/facet_40171/facet_40171_install.html Hope some of this info is helpful. -
When I use butter it's a little on top before they bake then split and butter the "bottom of the top and the top of the bottom". But normally it's split them and cover with plenty of homemade tomato gravy... plus one fresh from the pan for soppin' the plate!

About halfway between Vicksburg and Natchez is a little community called Lorman. I keep hearing of a place there called "The Old Country Store". They supposedly have about the best country buffet in three states... especially the fried chicken. Here's a link. Not really what you asked for but you have to eat somewhere! As far as interesting sites... I made a trip to the ghost town of Rodney, MS 4-5 years ago. Not a lot to see anymore except the old church but an interesting history. In the mid to late 1800's it was the largest town on the Mississippi River between Memphis and New Orleans. It was pretty much the center of the cotton trade in the state at the time. It came within just a few votes of being the state capitol. But the river changed course and moved three miles away which started it's demise. There's more here... Rodney pics, etc. and here... Rodney stories And there is also the Windsor Ruins... what's left of a HUGE 4 story mansion from the mid 1800's. It was so grand that the Union soldiers didn't burn it but after the war a guest left his cigar burning on a balcony and burned it down. Here's a link... Windsor Ruins

I think it was one of his stories where he rode straight through from LA to Houston to meet up with an old gf... and she wasn't there.

Cruise Control Issue
BigBoyinMS replied to ranger391's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Try this the next chance you get... When you are at the speed you want hit "set" then immediately "accell" once (or is it twice? It's a habit now so I don't think about it). I have found if I only hit "set" then speed drops off like it isn't set. But once I set it the way I do it's rock solid. -
I've seen postings on the Delphi Darkside forum and H-D forums from H-D guys so some of them do it too. As far as The Kumho... the max pressure molded on the tire is 44 psi and most of us run well under that. I played around and ended up at 38. And none of the tires that will fit the Venture are directional.

Pictures finally. (Even though the camera sucks.) This was the "Bad Boy". http://i720.photobucket.com/albums/ww202/BigBoyinMS/BossHoss2010/Boss632.jpg Pretty good looking bike. http://i720.photobucket.com/albums/ww202/BigBoyinMS/BossHoss2010/BossH632.jpg Here's the owner. http://i720.photobucket.com/albums/ww202/BigBoyinMS/BossHoss2010/BossHoss632.jpg The "Bad Boy" trike. http://i720.photobucket.com/albums/ww202/BigBoyinMS/BossHoss2010/BossTrike.jpg Lot's of "Car Tars". http://i720.photobucket.com/albums/ww202/BigBoyinMS/BossHoss2010/CarTar1.jpg Even on the front! Well, we made it up there late Friday and went back for most of the day Saturday. I did see a couple of RSV's and an '07 RSV trike. (Not including the RSV trike at the Hannigan booth.) Never saw the owners though. I did get a demo ride on one of the small-block bikes. I'm glad it was only a 5 mile ride. It handled like a smaller bike and the power was a rush, but... the heat coming off that radiator could cook dinner for you. Before the ride I thought I might like one... but not after. But we did have a blast checking out all the rest of the bikes. One fellow had a Boss Hoss trike that he built with TWIN 502 big-blocks putting out about 1100hp. But the wildest that I saw didn't look too out of the ordinary until I found out it was powered by an all aluminum 632 c.i. 1100hp big-block! And the rider was about 5'5".

I hope you find someone that can do it 'cause I could use their talents too. Because of a cheap HDD cooler plug I was able to flip the power plug 180 degrees on a HDD about 5 years ago. 5 volts went to the 12v pin and 12v went to the 5v pin. I've kept it hoping to find a way to get the photos and songs off of it. I did get a quote once from a company that said $350 and hour and no guarantees. It wasn't THAT important.

I've always said that I wouldn't want a Lambo or Ferrari, etc., but I would sure like to drive one once. Well, I've said the same about the Boss Hoss cycles and I may get the chance this weekend. My BIL and our wives are renting a cabin up near Paris Landing State Park, TN and going to the Boss Hoss national rally. They are having factory demo rides and I'm going to see if I can get a ride. Something to do for the weekend. If I do get a demo my last words may be... "Watch this!"

FYI, Consumer Cellular uses ATT's network so it's the same coverage as ATT. The main plus (from what I have read) is CC uses their own US based customer service and they are supposed to be good to deal with.

Welcome to the good ride! Let us know where you end up on tire pressure. I actually started at 42 and tried it all the way down to the low 30's but ended up at 38.

Pic of my new Ride
BigBoyinMS replied to Joe West's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Joe, My bud, Wes0778 is a bit "vertically challenged" also. (5'6" 27" inseam) He has an older Royal Star like yours and also bought a RSV. He was riding the RSV stock but ended up sliding the forks up to drop the front end about 1.5" and he seems to be doing fine with it. -
I just now looked at this thread and remembered one from a couple of years ago either here or on my Road Star forum. In that thread the actual remote or just the PCB was mounted in a dry space and wires were run to the right switch housing to a momentary on micro-switch they mounted there. Then a small (1/16?) hole was drilled through the switch housing for a small pin to poke through. I'll look for that thread and post here if I find it.

Great looking bike! But I do see why you want the badges on it. Kinda looks pregnant without something to break things up a little. -
Sure the rear hatch is shut all the way? Or maybe the rear hatch switch is bad. Just an idea.

I was at work and my Yahoo messenger popped up and one of the girls said her mom called to say a plane had hit one of the towers. My manager got a TV and set it up for us to watch and just as we turn it on the other plane hit. Probably the only other time that I felt a similar way was when I watched Challenger blow up. The reporter on TV is still talking like everything is normal and I'm asking myself if I was seeing what I was seeing.

You're right. They still have the 2009 model year listed.
