If you don't want white letters on one side there are a few blackwalls out there in 165/80R15 which is the same height as stock. I put the Kumho Powerstar 758 on mine. More info at http://forums.delphiforums.com/DarkSiding/start

Throw a Venture engine in it and have a ton of fun!

LoL No, not eight yet! I have a Venture and a Road Star but I need to use one in a separate area for a Chevy Blazer we keep as a backup vehicle. Yeah, I'm paying to insure 5 vehicles!

Since the battery on my Venture has been failing on me lately I decided that it's time to look into a battery maintainer. I've always heard of the BatteryTender but I'm one who will spend the time to verify what's good and find the best and/or the best value. I found one that I like better according to all the reviews and options. A company called VDC Electronics has a product called the BatteryMinder Plus that has more features (mainly it will also desulfate the plates in a wet battery) and will work with 4 batteries at once. It is model 12117. 1.33 amp. When you register it they will send you a battery condition tester also. Northerntool has them at the best price I have seen. $39.99 and about $8.00 shipping. I ordered 2 locally today. Hope they are as good as they say they are!

Last week I had a fellow come in to the car dealer where I work to order a part. When he left I noticed he was on a GoldWing. The next day I called to let him know his part was in and he mentioned that he would probably have to send his brother to pick it up because he would be in bed recuperating from a bike accident. As he was slowing to turn off of the state highway onto his driveway some 'thug' (his description) hit him from behind. Witnesses say he was totally limp (unconcious) as soon as he left his bike and looked just like a fat Superman flying through the air. Highway Patrol measurements and witness interviews determined that he was in the air for 77ft before he landed. Luckily, his worst injury was a bruised arm that his brother said is totally black from wrist to elbow. Just about have to look behind you as much as in front.

I'm about 5'11, 32in inseam and 300lbs and to me it doesn't feel that top heavy. In fact I throw it around like I do my Road Star. But, I would like to have it a few inches shorter. As far as seat comfort, my '07 has the stock pillow top seats and I added the Utopia backrest. It's the first bike that I have owned that I can ride for 300 miles without my back or butt hurting... much. LoL And the wife has no complaints on the seats either. I like the my Venture so much that I'm looking to sell or trade my Road Star for a 2nd one.

Obama To Sign Sales Tax Credit For New Motorcycle Purchase
BigBoyinMS replied to BEER30's topic in Watering Hole
Every other article I've read says it's a 'deduction" and this one starts out saying 'credit' and later'deduction'. There's a big difference between the two. I'm pretty sure it's a deduction. If so, you have to be able to itemize. Bottom line is that it will save you way less than $100. Edit: I see that you don't have to itemize... but it still amounts to diddley. The full scoop... http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2009/02/18/motorcycle-tax-deductions-in-stimulus-package/- 2 replies

Yep, it works great. Just wish it didn't drop like a rock when you try to let it down.

I think most of us agree that the majority of these crashes occur from someone not paying attention to what they should be doing. So how do we make them more attentive? What happens when you walk into a store and you see a "You break it, You buy it" sign. You either turn around and leave or you instantly start paying attention to what you are doing. It should be the same way with these drivers. You pull out in front of someone and you should pay for the damage to the bike, medical expenses, lost wages and any incidental costs. Hit them where it matters and they will remember. I know, it'll never happen. They are just accident's.

At this point the Venture would be my favorite of all that I have owned. Number 2 spot would be between the Road Star that I have now and the '76 Sporty that I had in the late '70's. I like the Royal Star's so much I have an ad in the classifieds looking to trade my Road Star for a RSTD or another Venture. As far as a bike I would like (to at least try one time) but never had... a V8 bike. Probably a Chevy powered Kannon.

Cool! The only problem that I could imagine... the 30 mins that it takes to pump it to that height.

For me, a Kumho Power Star 758 165/80R15 car tire is the best. Cost 1/3 the price of a bike tire, should last up to 3 times longer, handles just like a bike tire on my bike and has a 20% higher load capacity. Again, it's the best choice for me.

Curtis blank YM63 and Ilco X248 I also did a search on key blanks once and found that an older Toyota blank is the same.

Since I traded for a '75 H-D Superglide back in '77 I haven't wanted anything at all to do with any other brand of bike, especially Asian bikes. And I NEVER wanted a tour bike. But the last few H-D's that I had just left me disappointed in the power department and hurting because they didn't fit me well. And I hated to see all that money just sitting in the garage. So I sold my Heritage in 2004 and decided that I would stop riding. Fast forward to February '08 when the wife mentions that she is missing riding. We can't have that, so of course I HAVE to start looking for another bike. I break it to her that I may buy a cheap bike just to see if we want to ride again. At first she thought that I, Mr Harley, was joking but I finally explained that it would just be a temporary thing... just to find out if we still wanted to, or could, ride then we could sell or trade it on a REAL bike. Well, I bought a Road Star in March. 3 months later I bought the Venture... cause the Road Star was MY bike and the Venture was to be OUR bike! Now I want to sell or trade the Road Star so I can get another Venture or Tour Deluxe to be MY bike! See what you people did!

Wife and i called up a GoldWing buddy and his wife and we ended up doing 300 miles Saturday. Brandon,MS to West Monroe,LA for lunch and then back. As much as we enjoyed it, it would have been a little better without the 20 mph crosswinds.

"Crank" uses a different contact in the switch than "Run" so it is still probably the switch.

My Venture is stock but I have a K&N on my Road Star. I resisted putting one on it but finally did because the Yammi brand will fall apart over time. The reason that I didn't want it is that I had seen photos on my Cummins diesel forums that showed how much dirt K&N filters let through compared to the other brands or even the stock one. Maybe the filter media on the bike filters is better... I sure hope so.

I just saw this on the Road Star Clinic forum and wondered if it was someone here and if he is ok? Southeast Alabama I believe. "wreck happened sat, threw the motorcycle driver knocking him out, he was unresponsive when the paramedics arrived, truck ran the redlight" http://roadstarclinic.com/images/fbfiles/images/Picture_009_small.jpg

I think you would be unhappily surprised if you ever figured "actual" mileage. I've never seen a trip computer that was correct. My Dodge shows an average of 22.5 mpg but figuring it by hand (miles driven divided by gallons) it's 16.5. FYI, I like the way the Avalanche rides and drives too. I'm waiting till they make a 3/4 ton with the Duramax, tho!

Yeah, these days there isn't any 'bad' oil but there are better oils. But filters... For the price of a burger I'll spend a couple bucks more to get a decent filter. I've even heard of FRAM's being called a filter but it's a stretch to do so.

I currently drive an '04 Ram 1-ton diesel but I've worked in Nissan parts dept's for 20+ years so I can tell you the Nissan's are a great truck.

You can add a couple of more filters to your list. Nissan auto oil filter 15208-65F0C (short) or 15208-9E000 (long). I've had them apart so I know they are well made and they have the correct pressure setting. I've had one on my Road Star since I've owned it. I like the Purolator "Pure-One" PL14610 also and have one of those on the RSV.
