  1. I've been keeping an eye on this for about a year. I may change my mind when I actually see and drive one in person, but I really think I would like to have one.
  2. Same here! Once I got 42lbs in the Kumho the sidewall was no issue.
  3. And the reason for reversing the rotation direction when mounting on front is because rear tire 'tread patterns' are for accelleration forces and you reverse it on front to optimize for braking forces.
  4. That's my plan!
  5. It would probably be a great idea. Since the trike doesn't lean the front tire scuffs when you turn. I used to hang out at BTW-Trikers forum a lot and saw a few that had C/T's on front. One in particular, a V8 trike, had a 255 or wider tire on front. The only problem with a Venture trike is finding a tire to fit.
  6. In my senior year of H.S. I had a '70 SS396 Chevelle 4-speed. Unbelievable power! 1 of a few cars I wish I still had. I only raced it once against a guy with a '67 Chevelle with a 400 Pontiac engine and 4-speed. I was so hyped that when they dropped the flag I floored it and sat there cooking the tires. He was 5-6 lengths in front before I finally shifted to 2nd. Caught him and still beat him by a couple of car lengths! I ended up trading it for my first big bike... a '75 FXE Superglide.
  7. I posted this earlier on another thread... Just have your local Honda CAR dealer order it if they don't stock it. Part# is 08734-0001 and retail is $9.58. Moly 60 in the 3 oz mini grease gun tube.
  8. As few choices as we have for a rear tire there are even fewer for the front. In fact, you would probably have a hard time finding one in Europe to fit. Vredestein makes a 155 and/or 165 80R16... I think. I've decided the next front tire to compliment my C/T will be a REAR M/C tire mounted in reverse. I would like to try a C/T on front, tho.
  9. Just have your local Honda CAR dealer order it if they don't stock it. Part# is 08734-0001 and retail is $9.58. Moly 60 in the grease gun tube. (I just ordered a tube today for myself)
  10. Front takes a 16" but the rear is 15".
  11. Not sure what this guys problem is... maybe saw his momma naked with a biker? Or maybe he asked a biker for a date and got his butt kicked? Who knows? http://www.charlestoncitypaper.com/gyrobase/Content?oid=oid:65529
  12. I run the Kumho. It's made in China too and I'm totally satisfied with it. But it's 2-ply tread and 1-ply side. Don't know that I would believe the Nexen is a 4-ply sidewall tho. Usually the only time you see a tire with more than a 2-ply side it's a heavy duty truck tire or a high-end off-road tire. And the Nexen has a 320 tread wear rating which means it's probably a softer compound. The Kumho has a 400 rating. Just more info to help in your picking a tire.
  13. I use a 2 bottle water manometer, most use the Carbtune and here are 3 more options. http://www.tecmate.com/fuel_ignition.php As far as easy... yes, not hard at all. Just takes a little time. And if you decide to do it, DO NOT go by the Yamaha manual. You'll be turning the wrong screws if you do. The correct way to do it is shown here... http://www.venturers.org/Tech_Library/index.php?action=article&cat_id=002010&id=311
  14. I hate to do it but I'm gonna PO some folks. Sorry, but I can't see those who are asking for good advice be led to a bad product. Because of their advertising, I used to think Fram sold a good filter. After taking one apart I wouldn't use them if they were given to me. They just barely can be called a filter. I won't explain what is wrong with them here because I would rather you see for yourself. It's very easy to do a web search and find where others have taken them apart and compared them to real oil filters. And a lot of people seem to like the Supertech but from the disassembled ones that I have seen I would rather spend $2 - $4 more for a quality filter. It's 100% better than a Fram and I would even use a Supertech if there was nothing else but it would be at the bottom of my list. Personally, based on seeing them disassembled, I would use the PureOne from Purolator, the Wix(who makes the NapaGold) or a Nissan car filter. They are all top quality, have the correct bypass pressure and cost between $5-$7. There are other good ones too but they may be harder to find or much more expensive. Currently my Venture has the PureOne and my Road Star has a Nissan. While I'm at it I might as well throw in an oil comment. I currently run Amsoil in both bikes but will be changing to Rotella Synthetic. Last year I could buy the Amsoil for $7.50 qt and now it's $10 qt. That's the only reason that I'm changing. If you don't mind spending a little more, synthetics are much better but these days there is no "bad" oil... as long as you don't use the 'energy conserving' with the additives that will make your clutch slip. Ok, let the flames begin! LoL

    BigBoyinMS - My "stuff"

Just a few pics of my bikes and rear car tire on the RSV.
  16. I'll be getting 4 qts of Amsoil 10w40 MCF and a Purolator Pure-One PL14612 for this weekend. She's starting to shift "clunky" when hot, so it's time.
  17. It shouldn't have anything to do with that oil. It's made for wet clutches. I would look at some other problem.
  18. Since I installed my tire there have been a couple of questions on the tire specs that I couldn't verify or comment on because I needed to go back and look at the sidewall info. I'm running the Kumho Power Star 758. Load/speed rating is 87T/1201lbs. I had mentioned that I'm running at 42lbs pressure and the max on the tire was 44lbs. Someone had argued that it's max pressure is 35lbs. But I checked and printed on the tire... 44lbs. Just had to clear that up. Also, someone mentioned they would go with the narrower BFG tire because of the 2 ply sidewall since it should be stiffer. What I found from looking at the new tires we keep on hand here is that it depends on the tire. First, it's the more expensive brands have 2 ply sides. But comparing 2 different brands, both with 2-ply sides, one felt much more flexible than the other. It seems that it depends on the tire brand. The BFG 2-ply may be just as flexible as the Kumho 1-ply; maybe not The only way to know is to have one of each on hand to compare. Either way, it doesn't seem to negatively affect the handling on my Venture. My buddy on his GoldWing was having trouble staying with me on a couple of on ramps Saturday. He has the Elite 3's, btw. With all that said, I would still try a 2-ply side if I could find one in a blackwall and the wider tread. The only 2 tires that might fit that description would be the MickeyThompson 26X6.00R15LT or the Vredestein 165SR15 but neither give that info on their website. I just emailed MickeyThompson so maybe I'll hear back. And both of those tires will cost as much as a good bike tire. Just more info for anyone thinking of a C/T. Don't do anything just because someone else thinks it's a good idea. Make your own decision.
