  1. I like that... now if I could get it in leather...
  2. I have tried one but it just didn't feel right. Never felt like it fit my face. (Yeah, you're probably right. It must be my odd face. LoL) I ended getting a leather face mask with a bib that fits under the jacket. That, and an ear wrap, and I was comfortable at 29 degrees. Here's a link to the mask. The ear wrap was a felt type material from WallyWorld but here is the same thing in leather.
  3. Yeah, --->>>> :rotf: :rotf: Heheheh!
  4. I see DKKnight traded his Venture for a different bike. I'm wanting to do just the opposite. I have an '07 Venture already but I also have an '06 Road Star Midnight. The Roadie is a great bike but I want to do a modified Venture StarGlide conversion and keep the '07 just as it is. And there is only room in the garage for 2 bikes. And I'll even consider a Tour Deluxe. If anyone is interested I have an ad in the classifieds under 'other motorcycles' or just click here to go there.
  5. I have an '07 and the noises it makes are not enough to bother me. It may only be the normal gear noise but I think it does have some of the 'Jetson car' chirp noise. But again, it's not enough that I even notice usually. And yes, some people are more sensitive to it than others.
  6. Well, Sunny Beach! Guess I'll be making a call today. Since I've already bought a new battery I might end up with a new battery for my Roadie. I think I can get the old one back from Interstate. At least, I'll get to ruin this guys Friday if nothing else. I never did see the warranty in writing since I bought it used. (At a HUGE deal) I called Yammi after I switched the warranty over to verify that it was done but I never got anything as far as paperwork. To tell the truth, just to keep a dealers hands off of my machines, I would rather buy the parts needed and do most repairs myself. Just depends on the situation. For me, it's cheaper and much less hassle in the long run. Thanks for the pdf. Good ammo for when I call.
  7. Hey Wes! Left rear is '1' Left front is '2' Right rear is '3' Right front is '4' Firing order is 1,3,2,4 I 'think' it's a wasted spark ignition. Not sure on that. I should have mentioned it the other day... never lug it. Keep the RPM's up. They like to rev. And I like to rev it! Well, maybe not that much. LoL But it still shouldn't feel like a V twin. Let me know if I can help with anything. Maybe I'll see you at the Cycle Expo Saturday.
  8. Got the Cycle-Tron 310 CCA AGM from Interstate today and I'm doing a 2 amp slow charge. I'll throw it in tomorrow and I should be good to go again. FYI, Since working at auto dealers for so many years I knew batteries (usually) have a different warranty schedule than the rest of the vehicle. I called the local Yammi dealer and was told the original battery has the standard 6 month warranty.
  9. As far a quality everyone likes the BFG. I would have one if they made it in blackwall and in the 165 width. That said, I haven't found anything to complain about my Kumho.
  10. I don't think the brand or style of tire will make much slow speed difference; probably only the size. If you do a search you'll get all sorts of advice on using the stock 150 or a narrower 130 tire. I'm 6' (with my boots on) with a 32" inseam and bumping 300lbs and I'm fine with the 150 tire on front. But I think they most commonly say that the 130 is good for slow speed handling but at highway speeds it tends to want to follow grooves and such.
  11. Some Road Star riders go pumpless with no problem. Some others install a bigger needle valve to allow the fuel into the carb easier. But they always open up the vent in the cap and make sure the tank vent is open.
  12. I've been checking out dlhoulton's thread from back in January on his air filter swap and thought I would add to it with some more info. Here's a link to the thread. According to the thread a 57mm flange is needed so I did a little looking at K&N's website and using their universal air filter search came up with a lot of choices. And there are no adapters needed for the flange as they offer many 57mm flange size filters. Here is the link to the tool. Just choose the style you want (round, oval, conical) and then choose the flange size, angle offset, etc. This is the one that I like... RC-1252 $68.99 for a set of 2 http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/prod/norm/knn-rc-1252_w_m.jpg They look like they could be attached without needing a support bracket. Have to make that decision after getting them. The best place that I have found to get K&N is Autozone. The local store can get them usually overnight and for a better price than anywhere else. Just more info for anyone that may want it.
  13. Just ordered a battery for my '07 from the local Interstate warehouse. (Since they deliver to us and I get a goood discount.) They say it's AGM also. Part# CYTX20HL-BS if anyone is interested. Their description for the battery is: CYCLE-TRON II HIGH PERFORMANCE - 310 CCA - 18 AH Cycle-Tron II batteries have Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) technology with a sealed case, spill-proof design, and an acid pack. Absorgbed Glass Mat (AGM) technology is an advanced battery design that eliminates water loss. Once it is filled with acid, the battery is permanently sealed so you'll never have to fill it with water or check the acid level. Lead calcium technology means the high performance AGM generates more power, requires less maintenance, and lasts longer than any other AGM battery. Hmmm? Just noticed... The BigCrank site listed the Oddyssey at 185 CCA and the BigCrank at 270 CCA. The Interstate Cycle-Tron at 310 CCA!
  14. Went home for lunch and threw the battery in the Roadies saddlebag and took it back to work. Had them test it and result is "0" CCA. Nada. Toast. Dead'er than a Mis'ippi possum. Time to buy a new one... Thanks again for all the responses!
  15. Let's hope things don't get THAT bad! I hear most 1st Gen's are powered by Pick-up truck -->> .
  16. #33 seal is to keep the grease in at the rear. The other end of the driveshaft slides into a yoke on the front u-joint. In front of that ujoint there would be a seal around the shaft it connects to but you aren't working on that end. Edit: I see where your confusion is. The diagram is confusing but correct. All the pieces to the left of #36 are way up next to the engine. #33, #34, #35 and #36 all fit just in front of the rear splines on the driveshaft
  17. I'm guessing it's the original which makes it a bit over 2 years old.
  18. I've been looking at the service manual and the parts diagrams and remembering to when I lubed my driveline and I don't see any way that gearoil would get to the rear spline. I plan on going back in with Moly sometime and I'll have to check it all out. Just to be safe, I would lube it anyway.
  19. I've actually put about 500 miles on it since adding the pigtail. But that was my first thought too. Checked it first as far as looseness. And no corrosion at all on the terminals.
  20. Just wanted to mention the Great Southern Motorcycle expo is happening this weekend in Jackson,MS at the fairgrounds. 21. Thanks for all the responses! It may be the battery and I'm going to check it out first. I only had a couple of minutes before I had to jump on the Roadie and get to work so I didn't check much before I left. I downloaded the parts diagram and the service manual here at work and I've been going over them. I don't find a circuit breaker anywhere but from what I can see the starter relay is in the area where I heard that loud click. I'll know more after I get home this evening. Thanks for the offer Wes but I'll just bring one of the jump boxes from work. I may just forget it till this weekend... but I doubt I can. LoL EDIT: The more I think about it the less I think battery, but I've been fooled before. When I turn on the key everything is super bright from the dash lights to the headlight. But when I bump the starter switch I hear the loud click and then it's all instantly dead... until I turn the key off and back on. Then it's all hot again. Oh well, we will see!
  22. I need y'all's collective experience to hopefully save me some troubleshooting time. I know I have warranty left but I would rather KNOW what's wrong before I take it to a dealer, IF I take it in at all. I backed the RSV out of the garage this morning to ride to work. Turned on the key and heard the fuel pump click a couple of times. Push the starter button, heard a click then no lights, no nothing. Since I put the pigtail for the BatteryMinder on a couple of weeks ago I figure that a terminal is loose. Took the seat off and checked but it's all tight. Turned the key off then back on and dash lights and everything else has power again. Push the starter button and nothing but a loud click that sounds like it's from under the right side cover. I did double check the battery and it's fully charged; in fact I keep it on the BatteryMinder now. Is there a main circuit breaker behind the right side cover? Does this sound like something anyone here has experienced? If it is a circuit breaker then something is triggering it. Any thoughts before I start checking it out would be helpful.
  23. Last bird that I hit (that hit me) was in the mid '70's. I was in my '58 Biscayne driving to tech school a bit above the 55 speed limit (remember that?) when I see this bluebird diving straight for me. He hit the top of the windshield dead center right behind the rearview mirror and bounced off. Had to have been a combined speed of 80-90 mph. I guess even birds commit suicide. And it didn't even crack the glass.
  24. The runny fluid where the shaft couples is old spline grease. Behind that you see a nut which is the nut on the pinion. Gear oil is behind that and it's kept in by an o-ring on the bearing retainer. And FYI, the lip side of a seal always goes toward the grease side.
  25. Are you sure it's a Kenda car tire? I can't remember ever seeing that brand of car tire in a size that fits our bikes. Where have you found it? It would be good to have one more option.
