  1. With the Kumho I have never had that issue. In fact, as I have said many times, I can't tell any difference in the handling. All around the grip is better; stopping and in the curves. And that's with the pressure at 40lbs. I just now decided to try a lower pressure so I dropped to 35lbs a couple of days ago. So far, I'm ok with it and it still feels the same. I'll know more after this weekend.
  2. DiscountTireDirect.com has a brand called 'Nankang' that specs out just like the Kumho. TireRack.com has the Kumho.
  3. The rear Kumho we are using is the Kumho Power Star 758 in 165/80R15. The front that I have now is a stock size ME880 but when I need a new front tire I'll be using a good REAR cycle tire in the size that fits the front. To use it on the front it needs to be installed with the rotation arrow in reverse. The tread patterns are reversed on each end. The reason for a rear tire on front is that rear tires are built heavier and have more tread so you'll get longer life.
  4. Here's a link to the brace upgrade once you get your bars straightened. You wouldn't believe how solid they are once you put the braces on. Brace Tech article.
  5. The last time I ate at Rallys was about 14 years ago for lunch on a Friday. By the time I got home at 6PM my wife had to help me in the house. I was in bed for the rest of the weekend. 2 weeks later I found out a co-worker was in the same shape, same day, same Rallys. It's hard for me to believe they are still in business.
  6. LOL I like it!
  7. Y'know, this has me thinking. A small radiator with a small pump mounted up front in the air flow, spaghetti sized siamesed tubing for feed and return and a thin fabric covered vinyl helmet liner made with coolant passages all through it to circulate the coolant. Have a connector on the helmet with one way valves and it would look just like an intercom set-up. Or instead of a helmet liner wear it like a do-rag and just put the helmet over it. Hmmm, with a bigger pump and radiator you could make a jump suit or jacket liner with hoody. I'm on a roll! I need a backer! LoL
  8. I'm still at 40lbs on mine and no wiggles, shakes, groove tracking or any other issues. Most Darksiders say to start dropping the pressure as you break it in but I'm still happy with mine as it is. I may drop it 2-4lbs before the coast ride this weekend just to see what it does.
  9. I've been seeing threads lately (here and on my Road Star forum) about the cracking on Avon tires. I had put Venoms on my Road Star when I first bought it (My pre-Darkside era. ) so I decided to take a close look at my Venoms. The front was fine but the rear had the small cracks that are parallel to and all the way around the rim. Anyway, I emailed Avon about the issue, mentioning the forums and the photos I had seen here. They ask me to take it to the dealer that I bought the tire from because they had to work through them. I rode it over at lunch one day and let the dealer look at it and gave him the Avon rep's info. As soon as I walked back in at work I had a call from the dealer. He had already called Avon and was calling to say a new tire was on the way. I checked email when I got of the phone and there was a message from the rep at Avon saying the same thing. I had my new tire installed Friday at no charge for the tire but the dealer did charge for the install. Overall I think I came out pretty good.
  10. Well, that just means we will have to do it again up here in mid-Mississippi.
  11. Here is the correct link... TIRE *I found it cheaper... check below. Comparing it to my Kumho, it's more expensive... Almost $100 shipped compared to about $60 shipped the load rating is lower... 86T 1168lbs@44lbs compared to 87T 1201lbs@44lbs. Lower wear rating... 340 compared to 400 I believe the height is the same. Neither is a deal killer. It should do well. And I like the tread pattern. Here are some options for you... Nankang Never heard of it but it specs out just like the Kumho. I just found your eBay tire online for $59 and free shipping... Go here Good luck on whatever you do. I'm so happy with mine I'll never go back to a rip-off cycle tire.
  12. Unless something changes I'll finally get to make one of these get together's. Looking forward to it!
  13. You haven't heard? H-D's are mostly metric machines these days!
  14. If you grow up in a place where you see them all the time (usually as road kill) then they are called "possum" or "ole possum" as in "Look how flat that ole possum is!" If you grow up in a place where you never see them and only know of them from books or cable then they are "Opossum"
  15. If you grow up in a place where you see them all the time (usually as road kill) then they are called "possum". If you grow up in a place where you never see them and only know of them from books or cable then they are "Opossum"
  16. How much pressure are you running? Most people keep advising dropping to the mid to lower 30's to maximize the life... but I'm still at 40 lbs and measure no wear at 4000 miles and I have none of the tracking issues that you are noticing.
  17. The biggest performance increase you would gain would be by driving it like it's meant to be driven. It sounds like you are driving it like a Harley. This is not a hi torque VTwin but a high reving 4-cylinder. Get the RPM's up by keeping it in a lower gear or downshifting and it will pull you, her and a trailer past most any car.
  18. Hmmmm... Now that you mention it, that's a GREAT reason to do it! When I'm on a bike I want EVERYONE to see me. Then maybe, just maybe, they won't run my butt over... or off the road.
  19. Actually the '06 is 1700cc/102c.i. I rode H-D for 30+ years and this bike totally impresses me. I'm 300 lbs and it pulls like a train, is more comfortable and fits me better than any H-D I ever had. I'd like to try a RoadLiner/Stratoliner. Pros:Fuel injected, aluminum frame, 1900cc, longer wheelbase and low center of gravity. Cons: A bit more expensive than the Roadies ($7100 is a deal for an '06), tires are expensive and rears average about 6000 miles and very few accessories available compared to the Roadies. Styling: Some like it, some don't. Again, I would like to try one long term but with 3 bikes in the garage now something would have to go.
  20. My other bike is a 2006 Road Star Midnight. Really is no issues with it. Tough as nails. In fact, it's recommended by the guys at RoadStarClinic.com to hit the rev limiter at least once every time you ride it. Tons of technical info and help over there. One warning tho... there is a lot of accessories available so the wallet could end up lighter! LoL
  21. I'm usually running at around 72 per the GPS (or about 78 indicated).
  22. I have about 3500 miles on mine. I started at 42lbs and couldn't tell any difference in the ride or handling over a cycle tire. At about 500 miles I dropped to about 34-36lbs and it felt very squirrelly so I went back to 40lbs where I have had it ever since. Much better grip when braking and in curves. I hear from the guys with more miles that the higher pressures will wear the center quickly but I have yet to see any wear at all. Pics below. 23. I'm still running at 40lbs on mine and it does so good that I'm hesitant to drop the pressure any. From what others say I guess I should try it. I did drop to 34 or 36 not long after mounting it and it felt squirrelly to me. I pumped it back up to 40lbs-42lbs and it felt just like the a cycle tire with the best grip ever.
  24. I'm a Chrome user. I like the way it works. Mostly. I used to be a BIG Opera fan but every now and then I would have a compatability issue so I went back to IE until Chrome popped up. Which reminds me... I think I'll check out Opera again. I stopped at 7.x and now they are up to 9.x and 10 in beta.
  25. Go to Amsoil.com and click on the "find a dealer" link... there were a few not far from you. one is... RPM MOTORSPORTS OF TEXAS 1817 UTE TRL HARKER HEIGHTS, TX 76548-2313 (254)466-5298 http://www.lubedealer.com/win_with_amsoil
