Over at the Darksiders forum the Pirelli MT-66 has become the tire of choice for rear on front. Long life, great grip and a 150/80H16 is less than $100 at motorcycle-superstore.

Well, I actually had a real camera but you wouldn't know it by the photos it takes. We had a great time and the riding was great too! Here are a few more pics...

There are those that just remove the support rod assembly to get the result you are wanting.

Now that's cool! Now you're gonna have to tell us where to have that done!

help can't get rear wheel back on
BigBoyinMS replied to kbran's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have never had a problem with the wheel... but the first time I did a drive line lube it took me ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL freakin' day to stab the driveshaft back in. I was just aggravated I guess 'cause since then it takes 2 seconds. -

From what I read it's a multilevel marketing business... but more likely a pyramid scheme. There are VERY few legit multilevels out there.

Gregg, I'll just say that I wave and if you wave back that's cool. No secret wave or handshake needed. As far as answering your question, I know of the "2 fingers down" supposedly meaning "keep both tires on the road".

I think it's a moot point (sorry for the $5 word, LoL ) anyway because if memory serves I don't believe they make a size that will fit the 1st Gen's anyway. But I would like to see one of the "too tuff and not too smart" sport bike kids mount a CT and wring it out just to see how far they could lean it and how well it would do. It would be interesting!

You can MAKE them work but no, they are different bags. In fact, it's a popular mod to put Royal Star bags on a Roadie.

It's always good to see a resolution. Glad you got it figured out!

I finally figured out the Harley attitude...
BigBoyinMS replied to BigBoyinMS's topic in Watering Hole
Well, I just got home and logged on and saw what I inadvertently started. I was hoping everyone (including the H-D riders) would realize that I was making fun of those that DO take it so seriously and DO have the attitude that Harley's are to be worshiped and not those that are happy with whatever a person rides. I wasn't H-D bashing at all but you could call it "Harley lemonade drinker" bashing if you want. But just in fun. And I think some folks see the word "Harley" in a non-Harley forum and are immediately on the defensive. Lighten-up people! I rode H-D's for years and would still love to have a Shovel! But I don't and never did have the attitude that it was the only brand that should be allowed on the planet; it was just the only one for ME at the time. Anyway, I hope I haven't PO'ed anyone TOO much with my (so called) humor. And if I did... just don't diss my car tire!- 60 replies

I'm not sure I could walk that course without knocking some over.

(I know some here have Harley's and I have 30+ years on them myself so don't take too much offense!) I just read ediddy's thread about his trip to the H-D dealer and I got to thinking; why do Harley people act like they do? And I finally figured it out. I found this checklist online. At the bottom of the page is the title of the paper it came from. Some points don't fit but most do... The group displays excessively zealous and unquestioning commitment to its leader and (whether he is alive or dead) regards his belief system, ideology, and practices as the Truth, as law. Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished. Mind-altering practices (such as meditation, chanting, speaking in tongues, denunciation sessions, and debilitating work routines) are used in excess and serve to suppress doubts about the group and its leader(s). The leadership dictates, sometimes in great detail, how members should think, act, and feel (for example, members must get permission to date, change jobs, marry—or leaders prescribe what types of clothes to wear, where to live, whether or not to have children, how to discipline children, and so forth). The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s) and members (for example, the leader is considered the Messiah, a special being, an avatar—or the group and/or the leader is on a special mission to save humanity). The group has a polarized us-versus-them mentality, which may cause conflict with the wider society. The leader is not accountable to any authorities (unlike, for example, teachers, military commanders or ministers, priests, monks, and rabbis of mainstream religious denominations). The group teaches or implies that its supposedly exalted ends justify whatever means it deems necessary. This may result in members' participating in behaviors or activities they would have considered reprehensible or unethical before joining the group (for example, lying to family or friends, or collecting money for bogus charities). The leadership induces feelings of shame and/or guilt iin order to influence and/or control members. Often, this is done through peer pressure and subtle forms of persuasion. Subservience to the leader or group requires members to cut ties with family and friends, and radically alter the personal goals and activities they had before joining the group. The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members. The group is preoccupied with making money. Members are expected to devote inordinate amounts of time to the group and group-related activities. Members are encouraged or required to live and/or socialize only with other group members. The most loyal members (the “true believers”) feel there can be no life outside the context of the group. They believe there is no other way to be, and often fear reprisals to themselves or others if they leave (or even consider leaving) the group. I'm usually angry anytime that I have to have anything to do with a salesman. That comes from having to work around them for almost 30 years. But now I think I have a new nickname for my Venture... That gives me an idea for another thread...

A suggestion: Get a 3M Scotchbrite pad and go over the wheel lip till it's as smooth as possible. Then as a tire lube I've heard good reports on cooking oil/vegetable oil on "Riding ON the Darkside" forum. Good Luck!

I got quotes from any and every company that I could and ended up with Geico and they were MUCH less than anyone else. For the amount of coverage you have you probably aren't going to do any better. My limits are a little less that yours and I'm paying about 50% more for my 3 bikes combined. Ask a Canadian rider what he pays. It'll make you feel a little better!

Looking forward to your updates! I would think the Nexen is every bit as good as the Kumho. Good Luck!
-
From the looks of the MT you may get 10-12K out of the Kumho. It will be interesting to compare those pics to the Kumho when it wears out.

That's more pressure than usual! But you got it done.

Same here,Sir! Oops! Not next month! 10 days from now! Oct 25.

Just a thought... but I'm using a screw and nylock nut to hold my Bub tips on... never been a problem. And the nylock nut is in the exhaust stream.

Any ideas how to remove a stripped Allen bolt?
BigBoyinMS replied to Color01's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
I've had 2-3 do the same thing and was able to use a needle nose Vice-grips to grip the heads and break them loose. Come to think of it, I use those pliers as much or more than my regular pliers.
