  1. The only thing that I can think of is my Kumho.
  2. The only time they ever sent me anything was in 1980. I sure hope they miss me again this time. I would rather not have the trouble... because all they will get back from me is "2 adults live here" written across the front of it. I feel JUST like your buddy but I'm not going to try and take them on alone. But I'm definitely not going to go along with them like a sheep. Note: I don't own any guns or ammo... and I'm not buying any more to go with the ones I don't have.
  3. Here is a link to some specs for you... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1705
  4. I'm not real sure anyone here has used those since most of us go with the Stebel Nautilus Compact air horn at 139db. One of the members here (CarbonOne) even makes a custom bracket for us. Stebel and Fiamm also make a pair of electric hi-low horns that are 136db. I think you'll find any of these for less than $40.
  5. Hey dingy, You can put me down for one. I've been wanting to get a tach for some time. Just let me know if you get 20 buyers. I'll ask around at work and may get a couple more if anyone else needs one. Thanks for going to the trouble to do this!
  6. I average about 38mpg but I like to twist it pretty good most of the time. BUT... My best tankful was 2-up (uh, call it 3-up. I'm 2-up when I ride alone. ) on a leisurely 55-65 mph group ride... 44mpg if I remember correctly. So yeah, speed and riding style makes a difference. Sounds like you have the carbs adjusted as close as any of us so I would say just ride and enjoy. Oh, and no use wasting money on premium fuel. It doesn't give you any better results than the lowest grade in our bikes. In fact, it's been said that it can lead to some carbon issues.
  7. The pegs were my reason for adding them too. When I put my big old boots on the pegs it felt like the guards were made of rubber. By the way, using my cordless drill I had room to drill the floorboard bracket on the right just by it leaning on the kickstand. To drill the left bracket I let the right side frame lean against the bike lift. It was as stable as I needed.
  8. Guess I'll join in late here... 1992 Chevy Caprice w/ 53k miles on it. 1995 Chevy Blazer 2003 PT Cruiser 2004.5 Cummins powered Dodge Ram 3500 Plus my RSV, Road Star and the wife's VStar 650. They have all been pretty trouble free.
  9. Basically, that's exactly the way I was taught to adjust all carbs... adjust the idle air (PMS in our case) to get the highest vacuum reading.
  10. This is what I use and it's perfect for me... Leather Face Mask I combine it with a ear wrap and my face is good to below freezing on the bike.
  11. MOTGMOTT (most of the gear most of the time) but NJNWIMITMOSW100%H (no jacket no way in Mississippi in the middle of summer with 100% humidity) I have no problem wearing everything until it's a choice between not wearing the gear and having a small chance of needing it or wearing it and knowing I'll need it from passing out from heat stroke at 75MPH.
  12. I've gotten hooked on Google Chrome myself. Has a lot of features that I like.
  13. Ditto what tsigwing said. Kumho PowerStar 758 165/80R15 on mine and it rides smoooooth all the way up to 100+. I'll be mounting nothing but car tires on the back of any bike I own from now on.
  14. I still have the VIN memorized of my '75 FXE that disappeared in Feb' 77. I passed the thief while he was riding it a few months later. The only reason he is still breathing is that I had to get turned around and I lost him in town. And the "deputy" that I was dealing with must have been working with the guy as worthless as he was.
  15. I got a 23. I should have done better.
  16. BFG has a white lettered 155/80R15 and there are a few different brands in 165/80R15 with blackwalls. I run the 165/80R15 Kumho Power Star 758. 1. Does anyone know how many have tried the car tire, or at least how many have experienced this high speed wobble at one time or another, and was the problem corrected, and how? I have heard of a few talk about the wobble but I've never experienced it myself. Personally, I think it's some other problem with the bike that the tire brings out. Maybe loose steering head bearings or swingarm bearings, etc. 2. How many find it difficult to get off center? My experience has been that it rides and handles just like a MC tire but with better traction in braking and in the curves. Some other Darksiders with wider tires notice this a lot more than we do. 3. How many find the C/T performs poorly in curves? See above 4. How many have had issues mounting the tires? It seems some have more problems than others. Really the only mounting issues are (1) finding someone to do it, and (2) the amount of pressure it takes to seat the beads. I mounted my own and it took 110 lbs to seat the beads. After reading a lot on the subject this is what I'll do next time. Polish up the bead area of the wheel with a scuffing pad, steel wool or even fine sandpaper, use a quality bead lube like the tire stores use and let the tire heat in the sun before mounting. It seems that the people that have done it this way have a much lower seating pressure. Hope some of this helps!
  17. I would probably ride more in cold weather if I didn't live so close to work. I just can't talk myself into gearing up for a 3 mile ride everyday. And I go home for lunch so that's gearing up and stripping down 4 times a day.
  18. And the Venture stock pillow seat is the ONLY comfortable seat that I have ever ridden. If you had pain after that short of a ride then I agree that there is some issue with your riding position, etc. I have the Diamond R backrest. When I installed it, it was too far forward for me. Going by a post I had read I took off the lower? bracket and reversed it. That put it too far back and doing the reversal took away the adjustment option so I shimmed it with a piece of metal thats just a bit thinner than a dime and it was perfect.
  19. Here ya go. http://www.franklinairshow.com/Video/Comedy%202010%20Net.WMV
  20. Another "Congratulations" from here, Don! Seems there are a few of us here that got Christmas brides! Me and mine made 30 years on the 22nd!

  23. There are only about 3 major companies that actually build batteries and everyone puts their name on them. The best that I have seen for automotive are from Johnson Controls. (DieHard, Duralast, Interstate, ProStart, Optima and Everstart to name a few of their brands. And Honda auto replacement batteries.) To give you an idea: The warranty on a Honda replacement battery (which is made by Johnson Controls and comes from the Interstate warehouse) is 100 months and 100% free replacement for the first 3 years. Exide is another battery maker and from past experience maybe the worst. Years ago if you got a factory replacement Lexus battery it was an Exide and we replaced them ALLLL the time.
  24. I have asked about these Z-Coils whenever I see someone wearing them. They can't say enough good things about them. And they say you get used to them in no time. I've been temped but so far my Propet shoes have done me ok. And you can buy them with a spring cover that makes them look more normal. http://www.zcoil.com/uploads/prod_images/highdesert_black_01_ns.jpg
  25. Looks like it didn't work out. That looks to be 10-15 years ago. Jeremy Clarkson looks a good bit younger in that clip.
