  1. I've had one root canal and enjoyed the heck out of it. The dentist was a pretty, well endowed female in her mid 30's... and she gave me nitrous. Man, it was great!
  2. My Venture is stock but my Road Star has Bub's Big Willies with the louder baffles... a bit too loud for me. My wifes VStar 650 has the rear tubes drilled out. According to where you are in the Lower 48 the pipes may or may not be illegal. In Mississippi there is no specific law against non-factory pipes or a level of noise but if they wanted to cite you they could probably do it for "disturbing the peace" or some other non-specific charge. Here, you will pretty much be left alone unless you're showing your "clASS". Handlebars are not supposed to be over 10" above the clamps but 16's are pretty common.
  3. I checked my "no wobble" Kumho when I got home from work... date code is 2008.
  4. Check with the guys over at Delphi's Ultra Star forum. They put fairings on Roadies, Tour Deluxe's, VStars, etc. You'll have to have a free Delphi account to login. There are a lot of choices out there.
  5. 99% of the time WIX is as good or better than any OEM filter but I guess they are like all the other filter companies in having to outsource a few of their filters to have full coverage. If I can find the SuperTec in my Wally World I think I'm going to start using them. I used to like the Nissan car filters but it seems that they are sourcing some these days from a low quality supplier... Honeywell/Fram maybe?
  6. You could also check with a local shoe repair shop (or leatherwork shop) and see what they could do about replacing that one or all 4 (6?) to match.
  7. I wonder if they had a bad batch? Everyone with the wobble should post the date code from their tire. I bought and mounted mine 1 1/2 years ago and no wobble, no waver in tread and smooth at all speeds, just me or two up. Just a thought.
  8. Some years ago my great Aunt left me a few boxes of books and a few were from the early 1900's for teen boys along the lines of the Hardy Boys. It was a totally different read from anything else because of the differences in language since that time. And the stereotypes would shock most people. One of the most interesting books that I read in a long time. I also found some older stories online. Many were by Horatio Alger from the 19th century. Really interesting to see how life was for some in those times.
  9. My favorite Sci-Fi would be Robert Heinlein's "Stranger in a Strange Land" which I read in the 6th grade. Fantasy: Robert Asprin's "Myth" series. Faction: (A work of fiction using factual events, real people, etc.) "Unintended Consequences" by John Ross. I read this as the author wrote it. He was posting it on a forum as he wrote it. "Deep Winter" by Thomas Sherry "Lights Out" by Halffast. (A eBook on the web)
  10. The ice breaking up and the whales was way cool. I think they said it took 38 projectors synced by computer to do all of the effects.
  11. I don't have any but I have considered getting one IF I ever found the right artist. I haven't seen many tats in a style that I like. As to what it would be... a Caduceus but with a hook in place of the staff and drawn to look as if it was hooked through my skin. It's to signify a '70's band that I like and an old nick that I used to use.
  12. Mine was in the mailbox this morning... when I finally found it under the snow!
  13. SVS can be an issue but mainly on bike's that are jetted too rich. The valve guide clearance is tight and if you get a lot of carbon they can stick. Seafoam will take care of the problem if you have it and hitting the rev limiter once every ride and correct jetting keeps it away. I had it when I first got mine. It was jetted rich by the previous owner. Seafoam did the job and I haven't had it again since I got the jetting right.
  14. +1 on going for it. In addition to the RSV I have an '06 Roadie Midnight. EASY to work on and mod. Bulletproof. Without sounding too brand bashing, it's what I always wanted from a Harley. It's so much more comfortable, powerful, dependable and affordable than any of the H-D's I owned in the last 35 years. Probably the biggest issue you may have is if it has aftermarket pipes. The pipes aren't the problem but most dealers and owners think you have to rejet for pipes and they jet the carb way too rich. You only rejet if you change to a freeflowing airbox or mod the stock one. In any case, sign-up over at the RoadStarClinic.com/. We have all the help you'll need there. In my opinion it's the Roadie equivalent of our home here! Good Luck!
  15. My RSV with the pillowtop is the only seat that I have ever been able to ride gas stop to gas stop with out pain.
  16. I have a Diamond R and it pushed me wayyy to far forward but I found out that you can reverse the top bracket and it will let you lean much further back. The built in adjustment will not work anymore but you can shim the pivot point to adjust it.
  17. That's a leading link set-up. THE best frontend as far as doing the job and THE best for a trike. They just don't look cool! LoL
  18. For street level views; Google Maps But I think you want the Aerial/street View(Edit: I meant Birds Eye.. duh ) from Bing Maps. This will give you a CLOSE aerial shot.
  19. Insurance is so strange. AARP Foremost was one of the more expensive ones when I was checking. I figured they would be one of the better priced ones because I have my auto insurance through AARP Hartford and it was much lower than anyone else. And the auto insurance is the ONLY reason that I'm an AARP member.
  20. Must be this... http://www.pattis-settlement.com/
  21. They have it on their website at $12,699. It definitely is an RSTD, not a VStar. And dealers wonder why we talk bad about them. They don't even know what they are selling. Like the others said, the $10k range should be about right if you don't mind driving a few miles to find the right dealer. Or save a couple thousand more on a low miles used one. You'll still have the remainder of the 5 yr warranty. The deals are out there!
  22. I have a Bro-in-law in Paducah that keeps telling me about the "Land Between the Lakes". It's top end is 20-30 miles miles east of Paducah and goes south between Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. I hope to finally ride it with him this summer.
  23. About a year ago I spent weeks contacting as many companies as I could and I find that they vary so much that you HAVE to check them all to get the best price. I ended up going with Geico. Their full coverage on all three bikes was less than coverage on JUST the Venture from the highest priced company.
  24. My Yamaha factory A/C works great... during the winter months. But hey, it would be nice to keep my leather jacket on in the middle of summer down here.
  25. You are completely right. So many of us would love to see the country go back to exactly what the Constitution spells out... and it would also terrify so many if we did!
