I gotta agree with the above.

My son has an attorney in Lafayette and is one of those that goes for the throat, no matter who's throat. He is the one that recommended that he see a couple of doctors to ensure he was OK. I've not heard anything about his girlfriend, so I assume she was not injured in any way, other than shaken - not stirred! The only thing I have involved in it was the car. I bought it and my son had bought it from me and had not changed the title over to Indiana when he moved in January. I'm thankful that all parties are OK and that the insurance is finally going to do the right thing. I'm stiff as to why, but glad they are finally doing it.

The only thing bad about it is you would never get to ride it very often. Most of your time would be cleaning and polishing and then touching up what ever was left. A very impressive piece of machinery!

I'm Ol' Moose riding with the Popes of Hell MC. Now I feel special:rotfl:

Received a phone call two weeks ago from one of the claims adjusters saying they had re-thought their position as was willing to come up to 90% liability on the car. I told them that I would be filing complaints in Indiana, Ohio, & Georgia with the Insurance Commision against them and that I would be seeing them in court, then hung up. I received another phone call this morning saying that they were willing to give me 100% liability on the car, if I would drop my complaints with the insurance commision. I was also asked why I had filed in three states. I explained that Indiana was where the accident occured, Ohio was where I lived and worked, and that Georgia was where their main office was located. Don't know why they changed their tune, but I'm glad! The little guy can win every now and again. My son has been going to several doctors having some stuff checked out. Originally from the accident, he complained about a stiff neck and back. The EMT's at the time told him this was more than likely due from his seat belt. The last two specialist have told him that he has the 'Golden Injury' because he has some muscle tearing in both the neck and back. They wanted to try steroids and therapy first, because if there was any type of surgery involved, he would be a hurting unit for the rest of his life.

LED's are a current operated device. The more current, the brighter the LED becomes, up to the limit of the LED. Does the LED's come with any specifications as to what the limit of current flow might be? From there, you can compute what the resistance value should be.

I think I understand ;there is a black plastic backing plate behind the red reflector and that is where you installed the small LED's. I will look on e-bay for another reflector and practice on that before I tear into mine. Thanks for the info.

How did you get the reflective strip on the tour pack to light up? I've looked at mine a few times and the only way I can figure is to drill holes through the back. I don't really want to put any more holes in her that I don't have to. L@@KS GREAT

If my bike sets for over a 24 hour period, the memory presets are erased. Does anyone know why this would happen? The radio works just fine and I can reset the memory presets. Thanks ahead for any input.

That's the way I do it too!

You didn't mention it, but I bet good money she was chattin on her cell phone. Good to hear the trailer hitch threw itself in the way to protect the truck. Hope she is stuck walking for a while.

An older friend of my father's once said that a helmet does one thing only, determines an open or closed casket. Such as the gentleman mentioned at the beginning of this thread, a helmet would not have made any difference whether he lived or died. I'm also in agreement with the second post, I hope they fry the SOB for a good long time.

I must agree with the pump shotgun. Just the psychological effect of hearing a round jacked into a barrel is enough to make most run. But there are always going to be one that 'nothing' scares and have to dealt with accordingly. I have two 22-cal long guns, a 9mm and 22-cal hand gun, and two 50-cal muzzle loaders (sounds like a cannon). My 22-cal hand gun is loaded with 4-bird shot rounds and 2 hollow point rounds and the 9mm is loaded with all hollow points. The sound of an automatic's slide being pulled back is also a very good psychological effect. I do know that the psychological effects afterwards, knowing that you have taken a life, is difficult, at best, to deal with. Something I taught my kids and wife, was to hit the floor if they heard anything going on in the house at night, not a perfect solution by any means, but better than standing up.

When I bought by 88 last year in Illinois, I trailered it home, but, was told that I could have purchased a temp tag from IL and rode it back to Ohio. Some insurance companies (Allstate will) will cover a purchase for 30 days IF you give them a heads up on the purchase and let them know you are bringing it back to your home state.

I just turned 75,000 miles and mine is still going strong. No pleasure in replacing one at the moment.

Anyone ever take the motorcycle safety course
FozzyUSN replied to Mariner Fan's topic in Watering Hole
The first course I took was in 1882 in Lafayette, IN. When I moved to Ohio in 2000, I didn't have a bike at that time, so I couldn't get the MC endorsement. I picked up Big Red in 2006 and took the course offered by Honda in Troy, OH. This was on a smaller Honda which covered the road course required by OH. It was much easier on the smaller Honda than it would have been on the Big Red. Ohio also has an experienced course that I would like to take in a few years and I've been told I could also get a job teaching the course (a scary thought) after a few years on the road.- 31 replies

:happy65:I've been teaching for almost 20 years and this hits the nail square on the head. I've had students not show up for 75% of the class and cannot understand why they have a failing or even non-existant grade. I may use part of this for my voice mail at work and see how many say anything about it. Get's my vote!

Two weeks ago, my oldest boy and his girlfriend were involved in an automobile accident. As stated in the police report (ala Readers Digest), his car was traveling east at the posted speedlimit. A car in the west bound lane made a left turn into her driveway and hit my son's car. Both were shaken (not stirred) and no one was seriously injured. My son was taken into the hospital to be looked over due to a cut on his head that occured when his car made a landing after jumping a ditch. Police cited the west bound driver with failure to yeild, and a few other others that I don't remember. The other driver's insurance (Geico) is saying they are only responsible for 75% of the damage and not his medical. They will not give him a rental to replace his damaged car as they are not totally responsible. To add a monkey wrech to all of this, the car is still in my name. How can Geico get by with this. The police report states that the accident was entirely her fault. The only way my son could have prevented it, was by not being on the state road in the first place. What recourse, if any, do my son and I have in this?

I have been to Little Nashville once as well as Brown County St Pk. That is all beautiful country and would love to ride through it without the cage this time. I lived in Frankfort for a time and my grandmother still does. Folks & family live in Lafayette.

The problem sounds like it is in the CB itself. Have you noticed any difference in the AM/FM radio reception? A bad coax or antenna would cause problem through out the entire spectrum (26.965 - 27.405 MHz) which is why I believe it to be the radio itself. Most radios use a band amplifier that shifts to a different set of components, tuned for that frequency range, as it changes channels. Check the antenna connections first at the splitter and then at the CB radio itself (dirty connections can cause frequency specific problems also). Then swap out the radio as a last resort.

Your hollering about someone wanting to send you a boat load of money. I have 4 or 5 women saying that they want nothing more than to make me HAPPY BEYOND BELIEF and are willing to do anything I want, any where I want. I'll trade places with you any time you would like!

I was going to let you know that I have a luggage rack (for under the tour pack, correct). If you still need it, let me know. Glad to hear you are up and about though. Machines can be fixed with spare parts and such, people are not as fortunate.

After being shown the proper way, and the proper point, of bleeding the brakes at Freebird's Maintenance Day, I finally got over to Harbor Freight and picked up a hand operated vacuum bleeder and a large can of Dot 3 & 4 brake fluid. The front brake was a breeze and was finished in about 20 minutes. The rear on the other hand was a bit more interesting. I looked at several (and I do mean several) stores trying to find a funnel with a flexible tube that would fit in the fill hole of the resevoir. NO LUCK! I finally picked up a turkey baster and pulled the rubber bulb off the end and the tip fit in the hole perfectly. A little bending of small stuff (tying string for you land lubbers) and the turkey baster remained in place as well as giving me a sight glass. The rest of the bleeding went fairly well and I now have clean fluid in my brake lines. The next bleeding will be of the clutch and shouldn't be too much problem. Most people may think this kind of silly, but I remind you all that I'm about as mechanically inclined as a left handed chimp without his trainer, this is why I teach electronics. I forget the gentleman's name that helped me out at Freebird's, but THANK YOU very much. I learned something!
