I have to agree with SilvrT. I rarely get sick, and if I do feel like I'm catching something I load up on echinacea. Also up here they are saying that in some cases by taking the yearly flue shot it greatly increases your chances of contractinig H1N1.

I usually refer to her as the big compfy couch. I think that came from the MST course I took when asked I said I had an 84 Venture and the instructor (a sport bike rider) called it a couch and I said it was a compfy couch, the name seems to have stuck.

If you contact ColorRite directly via email they will tell you what color matches your bike. They were able to do that for my '84. Hope this helps.

I'm in need of some help
Oldseadog replied to Oldseadog's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I want to thank everyone for their replies. Now I some bike work to do this weekend after all the yardwork gets done. Once again thanks everyone for your advice, I'm totally greatfull. -
Today on the way to work I had a problem shifting gears. This afternoon when I put the bike in gear it would creep forward and stall unless I kept therevs up. I knew it was a problem with the clutch. I went to the nearest bike shop and added some DOT 3 fluid to the clutch system but the problem didn't go away. So now after struggling to get home on crazy traffic and reading the service manual i know I need to bleed the clutch. So How do I do that? I should also flush the system as what is in there looked nasty. What is the best way to do the flush and bleed the lines? I appreciate and and all help I can get on this.

Personally I like the idea of the single wheeled trailer. I've been toying with the thoughts of building one. Here is a couple of links to site that sell this type of trailer. http://www.nui-go.com http://www.n-line.com Good luck with your build. Don't forget to post pictures.

Stripping paint.
Oldseadog replied to Ivan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I painted just the gas door. I scuffed the paint and used Duplicolor spray can. It lifted the paint so much I had to go down to bare plastic to get it covered properly. I found when it lifted I could use a razor scraper and light sanding to get the paint off. Not sure if you want to go this route, but I'm glad I started on a small piece first. -
As a Boilermaker you could try the 555 out of Winnipeg Manitoba, or the 146 out of Edmonton Alberta and see if they are acepting travel cards.

Another 83 Venture Rat Chopper

I like the paint! What color green and is there silver flake in it? Did you chose the color from regular automotive paint? I'm not ready to go after my bike like that, but I'm thinking of a different (green) project. -
I came across an ad in a magazine for these trailers, and had to check them out. They look as if they would tow quite well. I'm wondering if they would cause any wobble. I see they are solidly mounted to the hitch of the bike, or the bike frame. They don't look very big, though I suppose all trailers for bikes are small. Here's the link http://www.thirdwheeltrailers.com/index.php/home And they're Canadian I sure hope this works

xenon headlight

What silverstar bulb do you use in your bikes? I'm looking to put more light on the road. -
The first time I saw a Venture Royale was in ‘89/90. The foreman on the jobsite where I was working rode one. I’m not sure what year it was but I sure liked the looks of it then. Last year I started thinking about getting back into riding, after a 28 year hiatus. I started looking at bikes that I thought would be comfortable to commute with. My buddy Don had just bought a ’84 wing and though it was nice it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for. Then on the way home my wife said there you go, as we passed a ’83 Venture for sale in a guy’s driveway. After pacing around the house for awhile Leslie told me to just go look at it. After looking at it I still was unsure. That night I noticed an ‘84VR on our local online classified. Two days later I called the guy with the VR to see if he still had it, he did, so I went to look at it. As I was pulling up to their driveway I could see it shining in the sun and was in love at first sight. I bought it that day, didn’t even ride it. It was bigger than any bike I’ve ever ridden, and I didn’t want to take a chance of dropping someone else’s bike. After taking a Motorcycle safety course I’m enjoying the bike immensely and I constantly forward to getting out on the bike and riding. Maybe this year Leslie might join me, then maybe not. This group is definitely the friendliest group I’ve ever been in contact with and I’m glad to be here. I look forward to getting to meet more of you. You could say I'm definately hooked.

This is an great video. I have to get my buddy to see this! I took the safety riding course last year, so this was a great review of the technics. Of course there was additional information that I didn't know. I'm going to be practicing these tips once the weather improves. PM has been sent to Saddlebum.

I agree with Scott2007. I also like the Nissan Frontier. When compared to ther Dakota, You get more for your money. It has a longer box, and a greater towing capacity.

I found this VR.org after I bought my 84. I was looking for information on known problems with the first gens, and how to correct them.

I've also given them up, about 8 years ago. I keep telling everyone it took me thiry years to quit. I was a pack and a half a day smoker, did it cold turkey. It was rough for a bit but then smoothed out. I still get a craving now and then, mostly for a gooood cigar, but I know not to touch. One, is one too many, a thousand not enough! I honestly don't know how my wife put up with the smell all those years.

We received more snow than normal and I guess you could say this disaster is because of my own stupidity. I saw the snow piling up but did nothing, thinking it was too cold and I would rip the fabric. Well this is the result. I can't get to the bike yet, but some of the pipes are down on it. I'm hoping the damage is not too bad. I guess I will have to wait until the snow melts to lift the shelter off the bike.

We were hit hard and they are calling for more snow. I've spent the last two days shoveling just to get the Jeep out. I have a 150 ft drive way and a 1/4 mile of up hill road just to get to the main road. My neighbours seem to think the heavier the right foot the better to get throught the snow. Will post pictures soon.

Just have a few small items to look for. If I remember right she wants jewelry.

It took me thirty years and many tries but I quite. I've been off for about 7 or 8 years now. (I lost count, never thought THAT would happen) Every now and then I crave a really good cigar, love the smell of a good cigar. I know not to give in as I would be right back smoking again. One is one too many, a thousand not enough. Keep at it, it does get easier.:clap2:
