4. Hipshot, the helo/crash/rescue firefighter is just one of the aspects of my trade as a Hull Technician in the Canadian Navy. Here is a shot of us training at night.
5. To anyone who is or was a fireman/firefighter, my hat is off to you. I've just completed the helicopter crash rescue phase of my tech course in the navy, and it has been the most physically intensive course I've ever been on. I'm aching in places I never even knew I had! I also don't fear fire like I did before, I still respect it, but don't fear it. I also have a newfound deep respect for any firefighter who is putting their life on the line, either professionally or as a local volunteer. Thank you all!
6. I've had the SY-Max since I bought my bike a couple of years ago. I do like it, but, the noise is bothersome, and I find the chin guard is quite close to my chin and actually is in contact with it. I do like the built in sunglasses.
7. Happy Birthday to all Marines from your northern Naval brother.
8. 26 June 08, right after buying my 84. I'm enjoying all the camaraderie and I've learned lots reading all the different posts.
9. Thank you Rocket, my brother in arms. It is amazing what comes back to haunt you years later. And what is wrong with the Village People?
10. Looks good, I like the black trim also!
11. Here is the forum section of the link above. I've been looking into this for quite a while. http://www.mikenchell.com/forums/ And this link is for different plans for teardrops, including a foldout camping trailer for motorcycles. http://www.angib.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/teardrop/tear00.htm there is a lot of info anf plans out there, Have fun!!!
12. I'm not a great one to blow my own horn. But, after an intense two weeks of study and practical examinations I am happy to say that I am qualified as a Saint Johns Ambulance Advanced Medical First Responder Level II!
13. I was out for the weekend. Went and watch my Riders play the Lions, good game! I am not planing on using the square lights. I have a set of small bullet driving lights I bought earlier, and was going to build them in to the cowling. I'm also thinking if I can't use stainless I could use aluminum. Aluminum would definately be easier to form. I do find it trickier to weld though. I'm going to start working on the patterns this week.
14. I really appreciate the pictures and the measurements.
15. I am looking for anyone with a metal chin cowling, willing to take a few detailed pictures of it for me. I am doing some metal fabrication at work, and I thought it would be great to fabricate one for my bike, which is a '84. I thought I could fit a MKII cowling, but was told I have to change the engine guards. I have access to some Stainless Steel sheet metal and thought it shouldn't be too hard to fab one up. If you could you send me a PM with the pictures and some rough measurements that would be great. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks!!
16. The Motorcycle ride for dad's 10th anniversary cross canada tour is happening in August. Starting Aug 1 the ride begins in St. Johns's NFLD, and ends in Victoria BC. Aug 29th. You can join the ride for any section or the whole trip. You can check out the Ride for Dad's website to register or for more information. http://www.ridefordadanniversary.org/en/
17. I am truely amazed with the outcome after hearing your story. Glad to hear your still on this side of the grass. Prayers are being sent for your complete and speady recovery.
18. OK here goes. The first one is the day I got the bike home, and the second is of my lovely family a couple of years ago.
19. Congrats on the new toy! The only Ford I have is a '53, and she needs work BAAAAD! From the ground up.
20. I too wish I had a shop. I'm like dr_bar. I have a Costco car port. My Dad HAD a 30'x40' shop with hot water pipes in the cement. At -40 C/F it was toasty inside. No problem laying under some car after it had thawed out.
21. I'm in. I've been thinking of getting one for a while now.
22. I've tried several times to watch the highway of heros video but can never make it through. I can never forget. I get choked up everytime I even think about my brothers. In the last few years I have gotten closer to my uncle than I ever thought I would. Ivan was a part of the liberation of Holland. The military is our bond.
23. Active Navy for 18 years and 8 to go at 52. Then I want to really put some miles on the bike.
24. I saw this product advertised on on of the porgrams I watch and was wondering if anyone has used it or even seen it? What do you think of it? There is a dealer close by in Richmond BC I thought I might give it a try. I'm thinking of polishing up some of the aluminum this winter and this might help to keep it shiney longer. Looking forward to your comments. http://www.sharkhide.com
25. I have to agree. Wonder what it's like to ride (drive?).
