I knew the tach was driven by one of the coils, that is the reason I was thinking I had a bad coil pack. My friend, Rocket, has an extra TCI unit if it is required, and quite possibly a set of coils. I will be getting started Monday night as today is Mothers day, and I'm booked up all day.

Hi everyone, I've been on here for a few years now, and I've learned a lot, but I need some help with this problem. Today I rode into Victoria, about a 30 min ride. I was headed to Sooke for the Bike and Biker blessing. Everything seemed great, but when I pulled into the parking lot, at Timmies a National Coffee Shop, the bike back fired and died. I left it shut off for about 1/2 hour before a group of us headed out on the ride to Sooke, again about 30 min away. The bike was very hard to start, but after a couple of backfires it started, and we headed out. It was not running properly at all. I had to keep the revs up, and it lacked any power what so ever. Whenever I opened the throttle, the bike actually seemed to bog down, until I down shifted. The Tach did not work at all. After the blessing, the bike refused to start. It spins over great, and sounds like it wants to fire, but it just back fires. One of the bikers at the blessing, with an older Yamaha, said it may be one of the coil packs, or the CDI. I have not been able to investigate the problem yet as I just got the bike into the shop just before it closed. I'm a member of the local military auto hobby club, so I have a good place to work in it. I look forward to any and all comments and advice. If it is electrical, ........ I hate electrical, it is VOODOO magic, and I have trouble understanding it, and where do I start? Thanks in advance!

I went to the Bass Pro shop outside Calgary Alberta. It was better than the Cabellas store here on the island. Bass Pro is building a store on the mainland, right by the ferry terminal. I am watching for when it opens, and will definitely be making the pilgrimage.

I have a '84 and am having an issue with my Kuryakyn ISO grips, and this could have happened to stock grips as well, I'm not sure. During Venture West 2015 I had issues with my clutch, and ended up with the reservoir gasket being damaged and the reservoir leaking. Now the left grip is not very snug on the bars and keeps slipping and rotating while I ride. I honestly don't remember what I used to secure the grip originally, so, I am asking for your advise. What is the best way to secure the grip to the bars? Do you use epoxy? Is there special grip glue? Has the brake fluid ruined the rubber of the grip? I look forward to your replies and assistance.

I for one, am wishing you all the best on your new venture. Oh, welcome back!

No it's not a secret. Dean at Action Motorcycles told me I could buy shims there and they might exchange, but I should check. I was/am going to look into it this winter when I'm working on the bike.
-
I know they have shims ant one our local dealers and the parts guy told me the MAY do exchanges.

After talking with Rocket, he doesn't have one, but another member on this coast might have one. That would be Camos, and he lives here on the island. He might chime in. I'm seriously thinking of do my shims this winter as well.

Reviving the clutch/brake reservoir diaphragm
Oldseadog replied to Oldseadog's topic in Watering Hole
I sounds as if I have my work cut out for me! The reservoir has been leaking ever since I left Yreka. It's on the radio, cassette deck cover, surrounding panel and the lower fairing. I've washed it off, but not to the extent everyone is talking about. :bang head: -
Reviving the clutch/brake reservoir diaphragm

Diaphragm is ordered. Will the brake fluid destroy the plastic? It has already removed some paint. -
So I was researching trikes and I came across this trike from the '80s powered by a Venture. I thought I would share this, it is kind of neat. It is a Badsey Bullet.

Check this out - Morgan Three wheeler coming to US
Oldseadog replied to Eck's topic in Watering Hole
I have always like the older cars, and this one is definately cool. For those of you who may be more of a DIY kind of guy, here is a kit out of the UK using a Moto Guzzi engine and tranny. http://trikingsportscars.co.uk/ Aparently the owner of this company has had several Morgans and is a Morgan family friend. It's about $13,000 USD, for the Kit. -
Great pictures Doug. It looks as if you had a great trip! Glad you made it home safe. Which picture would that be????

Unfortunately your liners won't work as the saddlebags and trunk are larger on the MKIIs. Thanks!

I enjoyed meeting you and Gabby! Looking forward to the next time.

Made it home from Venture West plus a Video Link

It was truly great seeing all the pictures and reminiscing. It was a great time and I look forward to next year! -
I hope it is not like Kevin's GPS. Kevin's gets lost easy!

Hi all, at this past Venture West I was having issues with my clutch. Well, long story short, I lost the use of my clutch and missed some nice scenery. I had trouble with the revision leaking as I made my way home. I have now flushed and replaced the fluid with DOT 4, thanks to assistance from Rocket. I still have leaking issues because the Diaphragm is misshaped. Rocket mentioned I could boil the diaphragm in water and it would return to its proper shape. Is this really possible? Has anyone done this? How long do you boil it for? Would I be better off buying a new one and be done with it? Thanks in advance for any and all input. Bill

Thanks, but, the ones I'm looking for were made specifically for the 1st Gen Venture.

Having just got home from the VentureWest rally, which was a blast, Thanks Nanci and Vic! I realize i really could have used some liners for my saddlebags and trunk. A few years back I remember there was a member making liners for the 1st Gens. Does anyone know who it was? Do they still make them? I would be very interested in getting a set. If not, well, I will have to locate someone locally to make a set. I will just have to figure out how to make a pattern.

Spent the day on the bike with going home revs cranked on! Left the Venture west rally early this morning to beat the traffic, they caught up.

Congratulations! I have two daughters, both single(ish). I'm not ready for them to get married, even thought they are 27 & 21.

OK, so I finally got around to working on my saddlebag lock. I took it apart again, this time taking pictures. In the first picture you can see where the spring is sticking out from under the round retaining disc, on the left side of the pin. The second picture shows how the spring is seated in the lock. The third picture show the orientation of retaining disc, (I had mine upside down) the final picture is with everything closed back up. Before closing everything up I lubed the moving parts with 3in1 white lithium grease. I tried a spray on dry graphite lubricant but it didn't work well. Hopefully someone will find this useful.

Thanks Puc, I am going to try and get into the bag tomorrow and take the lock apart again. Here's hoping I don't bust off a key trying to get into it.
