Progressive Rear Shock
magnum-pei replied to RoyalRider05's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
JC Whitney has a listing for a 2006 XVZ1300 Midnight venture for a rear progressive shock, 420 series. Price is defiantly right. I'll contact progressive and ask them whats up. http://www.jcwhitney.com/420-series-shocks-rear-springs-and-fork-springs/p2017021.jcwx?filterid=d60306y2006j1 -
New owner of a YSS monoshock
magnum-pei replied to tomephil's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I had a look at the web sites for the shocks you listed. A little hard to navigate with the PDF files and slow slow slow computer. Are the shocks air? it looked like they were manual adjusting and no air assist. I also found a site called JC Whitney and they claim to have rear suspension shock for a XVZ1300 royal star venture, Progressive suspension 420 model. If this is the case than Canadian parts like, motovan or Parts Canada will also carry this item. I'm trying the poor mans fix this weekend, half transmission oil, half fork oil 20wt and inject it in the air line. http://www.jcwhitney.com/420-series-shocks-rear-springs-and-fork-springs/p2017021.jcwx?filterid=d60306y2006j1 -

New owner of a YSS monoshock

Interesting I noticed a drip under my rear shock last month. And the rubber boot is all oiled now. BUT the air pressure is maintaining the pressure. Thinking I may need a new shock soon. Was there much of a price difference with the shocks and shipping to Canada, reasonable? -
Custom Dynamics offer is to good to pass up. Another one is enroute, all is well in the end. Still a mystry how the bottom lens screw could nick the wire. with the new one I'll either use a teflon screw or shrink wrap the metal screw. I'm still amazed at how all the electronics became wonky. especially the speedo needle sweeping back and forth across the screen. Thankyou for the replies. Allan T.

Ended up that it was a fuse. The bottom screw holding the taillight in place, scarred a wire coming out of the NEW LED insert. Saddly Custom Dynamics will not issue a refund, only a replacement at my shipping cost. So back to the stock 1157 bulb and swollow the $100 led tail light and chaulk it up as lesson learned.

This is getting odder, I went out again and reinstalled the 1157 stock bulb. turned the key and the neutral light came on but the speedometer needle kept sweeping back and forth across the speedometer and a buzzing sound is coming from the fairing, reminds me of the key left in the ignation of a 70-80's car.

Installed a Custom Dynamics 100 LED Genesis II tail light. turned key over and it made some flashs, than the lights came on BUT when I activate the rear brake light, foot or hand, I have no brake lights. Just tail lights. Also noted my green nuteral light is now out and the turn signals turn on but no flash. Also noted the clicking sound when you activate the brake (sounds like a relay) is not sounding. I reinstalled the stock 1157 and no fix. still the same. Any ideas??

longhorn offset highway pegs
magnum-pei replied to magnum-pei's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
turning the clamp away from my toes will be the answer. (for a size 13 boot of course!) Thanks for the replys. -
Hey all, bought kuryakyn longhorn offset dually highway pegs 7980. Just can't seem to get them exactly where I want them. Couple questions? -The clamp that snugs to the engine guard. Does it make a diff. where it goes? Either facing forward or backward? My foot seems to be catching the longarm part with the clamp facing backtowards the bike. -any torque specs on the bolts? I have tightened it to all most breaking point & the clamp is still slipping off the engine guard. (1") Maybe a piece of rubber inside the clamp?? & finally any pics of how you may have yours installed? Thanks Gang,

So for a 2006 Midnight Venture the 1" is it?
-
I have been considering the longhorn offset dually pegs for my winter upgrades. Just woundering what is the difference between the 1" and 1 1/4" clamp. Does it give you an extra 1/4 off the frame or is it something else?

Air suspension pressure
magnum-pei replied to magnum-pei's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Has any one ever considered running Nitrogen in there shocks? The local tyre shops here have high pressure for inflating tyres. Not good when filling the front shocks. -
Thanks all for the replys. I think I will stick to the Nuvi as I used it befor & feel comfortable with it. The wide screen is defiently the way to go. Plus the neat vehicle downloads, http://www8.garmin.com/vehicles/bundles/allvehicles.html
-
Hey All, Has any one used the Nuvi 250 on there bike? A couple local box stores have the Nuvi 250 & 250W on sale for the same price ($179) I know it is not a waterproof GPS but figured I may use it on the Venture occasionally. My question is would the 250W be too big for the windscreen? or should I just get the regular Nuvi250? The Garmin Zumo 550 is quite a bit out of my $$ range.

Air suspension pressure
magnum-pei replied to magnum-pei's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I went to my local HD dealer today to buy a air suspension pump. $70!!!! Called Toys for big boys in Moncton & they are asking $50. May very well be a road trip this week. Are DK pricey in there shipping to Canada? -
Front is 7lbs? Is that per shock or total for both forks? & rear is 0-57lbs?
