  1. I am glad your mom came around but my mom wont shes sure anyone that rides them will die on them. I got a divorce and the ex now runs with the Harley crowd and by that I mean the ones that are better than everyone else and you have to have only certain ones or you arent accepted. And now with her riding and me back at it dear old mom knows my kids are going to be with out parents and the world is going to end and so on. Personally I dont care what you ride or what you do as long as you enjoy yourself and dont hurt anyone. Thanks for the info everyone you have helped me and hopefully anyone else who has looked maybe a little.
  2. I am getting alittle over 40mpg on my new 08 and have around 1200 miles on it so far, it gets alittle better with each tank and the last one was 42 with alot of in town and country roads and not going over 60 mph.
  3. There are alot of great places I see here!! How about Indianapolis and have it when the Moto Grand Prix is then everyone can ride over and take in the action for that and there should be I hope alot of vendors and everything set up for it. It being the first year for it this year we will see how it goes. Just my suggestion.
  4. Nice bike I have the same color on my 08 I hope you like her, I am thinking of tearing mine down this winter and painting it pear white with the gray two tone I seen a harley done that way and it really looks classy so I know the Yamaha will look even better. Good luck with the new bike.
  5. If you are going to fix it go to a autobody refinish store in your area and tell them what you have and what your options are. doing bodywork for a living somethings will not stick or stay on abs plastics and some things will eat at them and make them soft. There are alot of good products out there but you have to match up what you need with what kind of plastic you have. If you are not going to fix it then check around to some good bodyshops I am sure they can take care of you and paint it too. Good luck I hope it works out for you
  6. Thanks for all the info and yes it helps and explains what I think I did was at the end of the drive I must have hit the front alittle harder than I thought in some small pebbles and the tire just rolled over and I was almost stopped. I am glad she has the crash bars I wouldnt want the 863lbs on our leggs. Luckly no body was hurt and no damage but a very good lesson learned. Bad side of it is my mom and dad hate bikes and dont like me having it even though I am 41 I still hear about them and it had to happen there with them watching oh joy!!
  7. I dont know were to post this but have a question, I was leaving my parents lastnight and for some reason the last 30ft of there drive is gravel because they didnt want it all the way to road dont have a clue why but any way started to stop at the end and was marbels and the front tire rolled out from under me and I dropped it with my girl friend on the back, thank you crash bars no one was hurt. Any suggestions on how to ride on these so I dont do this again. Thanks for any advise
  8. The radio problem was simple fix under wrty, they grease the plug and they wire tied the ends together so they dont come lose and so far its worked great. They did sync my carbs because it was running alittle rich and sluggish and after that it made a world of diffrence to it. There is alot of info here and alot of very knowledgeable people that I have seen help anyway they can so if in doubt ask someone will speek up.
  9. I have a new venture and I was wondering if the baffles can be taken out of the pipes and if so how does it sound? I see on here about putting HD on them but if I can do something with mine and it not sound bad why not. Thanks for the info
  10. I just bought a new venture not long ago and went from a honda 1100 sabre to this and not riding for 15yrs and it was alot diffrent at first but the more you ride it the better it feels. I have had the 600 mile service done and it made a world of diffrence on the bike and now have over 900 miles and she is coming to life more all the time. Plan on haveing radio problems but wrty will take care of it and like with mine once I get the little bugs worked out it will be a great bike. Good luck with it and ride safe out there.
  11. I just bought a new 08 Venture and as I am alittle over 6ft the bars are forward alittle for the way I sit on the bike because of my long legs and have been wondering if I could and if it would help if I put a riser or something on mine did this help yours? I havent been around any bikes in over 15yrs so this is all new to me again. I love the bike just need to tweek it alittle. Thanks
  12. I have a 08 venture and want to change the pipes on it but dont want something that will become annoying on a long ride, are the road king pipes factory pipes or are they aftermarket ones for them?
  13. I just picked up the bike and rode it home and she runs alot better now and sounds better. They did tune the carbs alittle and I can tell and fixed the leak and the radio. He told me that the whine I hear isnt as bad on mine as some of them and there wasnt much he could do but maybe at the next oil change go to a synhetic oil and alittle heaver and that might quit it down. I noticed that when I went to roll it back out of the parking spot it seemed like it rolled alittle easier to. .so far all is good and she purrs like a kitten and hopefully she stays that way.
  14. Thanks for the info everyone, They found the leak problem it was a O ring and some bolts lose nothing major and the radio he said they put the grease in it and wire tie the plugs together in the cowl so they dont come apart. I havent heard what they did about the other stuff yet but will let you know
  15. You might try taking it to a bodyshop they have very ridged two part epoxies and some have plastic welders. I have one that I use and they work great on some plastics and not on others, they do have a rod that works very well on alot of them but what ever you do use some kind of support for reinfocement like fiberglass tape or I use stainless steel mesh for repairing cars and such. Alot of your new cars now have glued on quarters and the glues are stronger than a weld. You might try a auto paint store they should have alot of things to get you taken care of. Just so you know alot of this stuff is very pricey thats why its so much to fix stuff. Good luck
  16. Hello all, I just bought a new 08 venture and getting ready for the 600 mile check up. I am having problems with the radio not wanting to change chanels when it get warmed up and lastnight noticed that I have a antifreeze leak. Anything else anyone knows I need to keep an eye out for? I also read in a forum somewere that there was something that they can do about the wine I get from the gears at highway speed around 70 that after awhile gets alittle on your nerves. Thanks for any and all info and be safe out there.
