Wow you guys missed a perfect weekend to be riding here in the Finger Lakes. headed down to Hammondsport and lunch at bully hill winery. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, day. Clear skies and perfect temperature!
If I'm not working I may be there . wine tours have picked up the last couple of weeks and i really dropped the ball on planning a fall ride. Sorry all.
Just curious would anyone object if i brought Rawhide or Tailfeather?
Well Said Skid! These Charities are alot like the medical insurance business that insists they need to pay these big salaries for the "best and brightest "to run their companies. That's such a line of baloney that I can't stand it anymore. But like you said skid what about these people that the charities actually help. When we don't who really gets hurt.
Maybe instead of not giving what we need to do is figure ways to regulate the pay to upper management of this so called Non profits.
While in Lake George I got caught in a heavy down pour after ward i started to get feedback through my helmet speakers not all the time but when the wire hung just the right way. i hd to wiggle it to get it to stop.
I thought it water to tried to clean it all out. This feedback appeared next when I turn up the volume on my intercom. at low levels its fine at high volumes a terrible squealing. In the way home i stopped at a CB shop and added a longer tip to my antennae not sure if this is affecting this . After all this time I can't think its still a water problem. what could it be?
Well last day of the jazz fest is that Sunday but if I'm all jazz'd out count me in as well. Not sure if Terri will come. Try to let you know for the body count by friday.
Well i just got back from a 4 hour ride around the finger lakes with the Greater Rochester Patriot Riders. We all left Waterloo N.Y. at 10 am and headed south down Cayuga Lake on Rt.89 to Ithaca. There were a little over 100 bikes but it was well organized and ride captains helped keep the group together. We detoured around Ithaca proper and then headed up Rt.379. I road I'd never been on before but is full of hills and great curves. We stopped in a little town called Enfield where local Boy Scout set up drinks and snacks for donations. There were also 4 porta-potties that got extensive use. I ran into a guy from Rochester riding a pristine Blue 83 with less than 15k on it. He bought it last year from a gentleman in Pennsylvania with only 11k on the clock.
I told him all about us and recommended that he join. I also mentioned the infamous 2nd gear problem which he'd heard about but knew no details of when or how it happens so i filled him in. But with any luck he's still got about 30k before he has any trouble.
The bike was beautiful with Steel braided brakelines and Sanded and polished engine cases. Just gorgeous. He says he dropped the bike in his trailer last year and bought a left side mirroe from someone in western Canada. Was that one of us? There were at least three other ventures in the Group and one or two royal stars But I didn't see any locals like Steamer or Robin, NyJerry,Jayceefolly or some of the others.
Anyway it was sunny but cool and a great ride. We enter the new Veteran cemetarynear Samson Park and did a once around before getting back on the road. Lots of people stopped to wave and salute as several bikes carrying old glory passed by. Then we all headed back up to Waterloo where some had a lunch that was all part of the ride. I headed to a friends house before heading home. all in a ll a great Memorial Day run.
Haven't had it happen on my Yamaha yet (though today Im putting on new tires front and rear so i'll check it thoroughly), but it did happen on my honda some years back as i was riding to a charity run. lost both bolts and the bike was useless to me . so i limped home and had to swish to my side car rig.
My ex had/has a bike like that but my son destroyed the engine in it some years ago. now its sitting all apart in her barn. we don't have a great relationship but she could use the money. Want me to ask? Hers was an 84 the pinstrip around the tank is red not silver.
