Poor ducky!!!LOL!

Maybe we should have hoped gas prices would have continued to rise and gotten more people on bikes and scooters. that way more people would understand the danger all of us riders face.

I missed Americade last year and i've been seroiusly thinking about going again. I guess it will depend on how i can schedule everyrthing. Big Tom and bongobob are going and want us to go with them. I guess its time to start some serious planning for next year. As much fun as doing the work at a booth sounds its tricky to get it right. I said i'm not a quick study when it comes to catching those unique features that make a picture look like someone. Most people that do that, do it so often that they can catch things quick .Then too, sometimes the pictures look all alike.

A booth sound intersting maybe i can work up some prelimnary 1st and 2nd gen images and then we can just add the riders faces. But to make they really good takes a little time. I can't do it like thoses guys you see in the mall or at carinavals and fairs. Its better to have a few good pictures . Especially for the ladies you want to make sure it looks lie them.

More like flying in a jet plane close to the ground. I've seen them in Europe though the are kind of expensive. I saw a price of about 13 to 17 thousand. Someone tried that in th eUS but the outriggers stayed out and only lifted up off the ground like small wings.

That red looks delicious enough to eat, like a big candy apple. Nice job, beautiful Harley. Is that a stock Harley fairing? It looks a little like the after market copy thats out there. But then you have the full instruments. If you put that all together and it is the aftermaket fairing you did a fanatastic job.

Hi guys, I just got home from a full day of Christmas shopping to find A message from Big Tom asking me to check out his post. As I was reading I was even more surprised when Don put up the thumbnail sketches I sent him months ago. I just figured they weren't up to snuff and forgot all about them. Toms picture was also a prelinimary sketch. Unfortunately the finished picture is too big to put in a scanner but maybe he'll take a picture of it with his camera and post it soon. I'm glad to hear any comments from the group on changes or tweaks to the finished product . I'll leave it to our fearless leader to make the final decison on the final design. So lets hear what you all think. I'm all ears with an itchy pencil finger. So what does everybody think of the sketches Don put up? It would be an honor to design a new Venture rider Logo and T-shirt design. Notice too I tried to incorporate the original "star" into the design. PJ.

Glad your son is home safe for Christmas. Sorry to hear about your daughter. Kids can be hard on grandparents full time but they do make christmas very wonderful. I hope you can see them and your son as a true Christmas gift. And having a V-Max around for a year well that can't be too bad.

A little something to watch out for when you're buying tires...
PBJ replied to dragerman's topic in Safety and Education
Thanks for posting that . I learned that lessen the hard way back in 1996. I bought a set of Contiental tires through dennis kirk. They had this campaign that they'd beat any price by a dollar. I ordered the tires and put them on at the end of the season. following spring I took the bike to be inspected and the tires wouldn't pass. Dry rot. How? I asked their brand new. . I called dennis Kirk and they said they didn't garauntee tires they sold. So I Called Contiental They told me how to read the tire code and I learned they were 8 YEARS OLD! Luckily Contiental was cool about it. They explained companies like Kirk buy large lots of tires and sell the old stock first but Contiental has told these companies repeatedly that tire shelf life should only be 4 years. They had me cut the codes out and send them in and they gave me a brand new set of tires. Ever since I always check the code before the tire is installed and i don't order from large warehouses , at least not tires. -
Hey Bill so cool and old school! Love the full moon hub caps! Oh,Oh now i"m giving away my age.

HEY BRAD AND LONNA, After the kind words you had for me last week I couldn't let this opportunity go by without adding my well wishes. I'm also a GM employee( retired) I also know how scary this uncertainty is. Its been great reading all the love and comments from everyone on the sight. Its a real tribute to the friendship you've given out that it comes back you so great. Be proud you two. Its been wonderful all the people that want to help you keep your bike or buy you a another one or pay i off for you. .....I noticed though no one actually wants to really BUY the bike from you ?!? Does it have cooties or something? LOL!

Back in 1957 when the Sportster came out thats exactly what it was a sporty light weight v twin. Harley is finally starting to get some real sport back into the Sportster. Of course its used some Buell parts , Erick has shown Harley he can make and sell American made sport bikes. That bike may not be tops in power but a recent side-by-side with the Aprilia V twin showed that the Sportster can hold its own on the open road replacing power with better stability and enough touq to stay on the throttle in the curves. ( Man that sounded like i took it right from the mag.) Anyway I'm a fan and glad to see Harley going against the grain a little bit to try and pull in the late twenty somethings and thirty somethings that have disposable income and want a sporting American standard.

Frogman, Mamano My heart goes out to you and Jonas your not wrong in talking about forgiveness. But as many here I'm sure know if the abuser isn't ready to admit and face up to their addiction they can't get help. therefore they can't really ask for forgiveness. I watched alcohol take my wife and soul mate from me. She's still alive just not the woman i fell in love with. Our three year divorce has been dragging on and the more i give the more she wants. This week she accidently burned down the 190 year old house that was the only home our children had ever known. I had paid it off and given it to her in exchange for my pension which i needed to pay off the house . Now the house and all our memories are gone. Alcohol and drugs destroy more in the world than people realize. I try not to rag on about others alcohol use i only pray that others don't have or develop the problems i've suffered through. Unfortunately the user never thinks they have a problem and cn justify anything they do. I'm sorry guys my heart and prayers are with you. it would be nice if the guy got his life straight but he may never make it. PJ.

Hey Brad It's tough to sell a bike. But for what you'll get for that pretty second gen you could pay your bills and still have enough to buy a good 1st Gen!

How do I eliminate anti dive system?
PBJ replied to motorbiketim's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I guess the question need to be asked, what would be the reason to de link the brakes or remove the anti dive? I have a honda without a linked system and my Venture that does and i don't feel muxch of a difference .as far as the anti dive, i agree with Bongo the Mk1 have spring that turn to mush over the years. Fresh progressive should perk the front end right up.Try the spring change first then see if you still want to go to all that trouble. -
Jeff so sorry i haven't gotten back to you abou tthe tire i know you called me on my birthday . I sent a email but didn't hear from you. I'm not sure what happened but kniowing sidecars as i do I can give an educated guess. It could have been a series of things. I'lltry to list them in order. 1.) The tire could have been underinflated based on the added weight of the sidecar. The car and its weight are like having a passenger on the bike all the time. 2.) As you excellerate the bike pulls sidways or crab walks.( you've heard me mention this before.) this puts sidways pressure on the sidwall if thhe tire is underinflated . under hard excelleration this would bend the tire to the side as its fighting against the tread holding The road. 3.) the tire may have had a minor defect that under those pressures may have just given out. In the future its important to keep the tires inflated at a little over pressure to compensate for the weight and the stresses of the pull the car subjects the rear tire to. If the tire is at pressure but looks flatter than usual pump it up to where it looks right . The down side is that it eats through the thread within a season . Thats just the nature of the beast. Again sorry i didn't get back to you before. the pictures are amazing I've never seen that happen before which makes me think the tire migh have been bad. Maybe it was old? Some tire warehouse keep tires pver their expiration date . Was it bought locally or from a catalog?
