Annie fine looking bike . I also admire the incredible determination to stay on a bike no matter what. I love the leading link fork. I read about the company in England that makes them there when I was setting up my sidecar rig. My old XS1100 has a leading axle which is not quite as nice as your leading link but sure does help make the steering easier. Also i just want to thank you for the prayers and good wishes sent to my Partner Rawhide. Its greatly appreciated. I've been off site a lot recently and if you're new here let me send along my warmest welcomes to Venture Riders. As I'm sure you know well by now there are a lot of great people on site here. makes you glad to be a member Oh , heres a suggestion for your crutches. They make rifle holders for ATV and that attach to saddles . I know Australia still has plenty of ranchers and herders that use horses. Tack shops or sporting catalogs may carry leather of plastic rifle holders that you might be able to adapt to carry your crutches. Hope its an idea that might work. Phil.

Venture Royale Rear Shock
PBJ replied to Rick Butler's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Would putting progressive spring in the front help "lift " the rear at all? I have to replace the springs in my 85. they bottom out over most everything but the rear may need replacing too. Any suggestions on a good replace shock ? what company seems best? -
Every generation has a Micheal Jackson. Some born with a natural talent that becomes rich Then those riches give them the power to isolate themselves from society and sink lower into themselves.Wealth is not the great appeaser we think it is. Instead it makes us believe that we can do what ever we want and as long and no one knows then we aren't hurting anyone. Before MJ there was Howard Huges. Also a genius, also rich and also a nutball! For all the nasty things we say about Jackson it seems no one may have disliked him more than himself. There has to be a reason why he was constantly trying to change the way he looked and never being satisfied with the result. Whats worst is that he had the money to keep disfiguring himself over and over. It would be a curious study to see how all people would react when they were given near unlimited wealth and the abiltity to do what ever they wanted with it. Living in a mansion with only people that would do whatever you say because you paid them well. I'll bet it would drive quite a few "normal" people crazy too.

I Hope this isn't a strange request. I'm looking for a set of mufflers off a first gen bike, I don't need the collector box or headers just the mufflers. I want to put them on my XS1100 sidecar rig. The megaphone on it are eaten through and loud as hell. Very uncomfortable to ride so loud because the sound reverbs off the sidecar body making it worst, I like the look and sound of the oem cans and would like to put a set on the 11. if anyone has a set that they've taken off and have lying around I'd be glad to negotiate a price for them. Please let me know aand contact me here. thanks guys Phil.

What should I be looking for on this 89???
PBJ replied to nosvet's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Welcome to the forum and here is where members can help you . About two weeks a go i posted a listing here for a friends bike up here in New York State. This bike was going for about the same price and has every available option and then some. It only has 35k on it and only a few little blemishes. The front fender was repaired but until it was pointed out I hadn't noticed it. The bike is super clean and was well maintained Its a Burgundy and red 89 you can call the owner at 315-539-5028 . You may still be an owner yet. Good Luck. -
Man Bob first you hit a deer now this. That damn 2nd gen must have a curse on it you better get rid of that thing and go back to goldie. Speaking of her you better hope she didn't hear that crack about needing a bike to ride after you recover from your "procedure". Alll kidding aside our hearts and prayers are with you.Enjoy the "VACATION":big-grin-emoticon:

It may be time for me to invest in one as well.

1989 VR Popping Out Of 2nd Gear!
PBJ replied to skydoc_17's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
First two questions I'd ask is how many miles on the bike and what kind of riding was it done under. Was it a lot of stop and go with a lot of clutch action. Its not inconcievable that even the harden spacer upgrade couldn't wear thin under certain conditions. Especially considering that there was never any major redesign of the 1st gen tranny after this upgrade was put into effect. -
Rear light bar for 1st Gens
PBJ replied to lonestarmedic's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Great for an 86 and newer but the helmet locks also lock down the trunk on the 83-85's making them immovable for us. I did see some led strip lighting at Americade amd may experiement with those for extra braking lights for my 85. -
Hey Jerry could i hit you up for two of those buttons ? I lost a gray and a black one. collor doesn't matter as long as they work. Gladly pay what you think they're worth. Phil.

Progressive Springs
PBJ replied to Scooter's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Did you guys all change the oil at the same time you changed the springs? You don't have to remove the whole fork right just the top caps? My bottoms out too and the air pump won't pump the front fork anyway. I have a bike jackd and it seems that elevating the front wheel to fully extend the fork makes it easier is that right? I was going to have Progressive do it at Americade but ran low on money. -
Okay Bob just found this thread and realize you picked up the second gen. Congrats despite the bad news about the accident. Want to sell those passenger arm rests keep me in mind. Oh and any one with a set od progressive springs they want to sell let me now my 85 needs a suspension redo. Just got back from Americade and the suspension is now my number one project.

Just read the other posts . New Bike??? When did this happen? I've been off sight too long!!!
-
Bob I hope the both of you are ok. Sorry to hear about the bike. But don't be surprised if the insurance "Totals" the old girl. As olsd as she is there are no real replacement parts are far as they are concerned. I could( Hopefully) be wrong. Had an almost similar situation up in Lake George this week while returning to our hotel in Hague after dark. We were coming down a 2 mile long descending stretch of "S" curves on northern 9N when a large doe appeared standing right on the edge of our lane. We were already leaned over into the curve as we caught sight of her. I had been braking before the curve but had to scrub off even more speed as we approached the deer. Luckily she simply turned around and stepped off the road. When I got home i thanked my son many times for the new set of mini burners he had installed for me just before we left . It gave us a few seconds more to see the deer than we would have had. Sorry to hear about "Goldie". But glad to hear you and the Missus are alright. Phil.

Hey Kenny glad to hear your doing a little better. But Rawhide and I send our prayers that your recovery is fast and no new complications emerge. Take care

Let me just add that tax money to help our vet is money spent as it was intended. Hearing loss is a terrible thing. My little lady has been hearing impaired most of her life. Products are improving every year . It just depends on what you can afford. Personally the men and women who have defended this country should be getting the very best I don't think they are though. Glad they are helping.

Hey Kite squid please take my name off the list for the DVD Ny Jerry recently purchased it and let me see his . So remove my name that may go to the next rider on the list. The Dvd taught me about the friction point, but the eyes to the direction you're going was old knowledge refreshed . I admit I knew that but had not been practicing it like I should. Now that I'm on a bigger and heavier bike it was a good thing to relearn. I'm practicing the steps now.Good luck to all.

Reversal of fortune here. For 30 years my ex rode her own bike. A beautiful Nighthawk 700S But the new lady in my life doesn't feel comfortable riding. Thats why I bought my 85 Royale. That how I met all of you good folks. Not a bad trade off if you have to make one.

Hey Tom I told Bob you offered me a nice set of Metric Box end wrench you said you aquired somewhere. I also told him you tried to sell me a set of metric screw drivers. He told me there are no such a thing! Loved having you guys there always a fun time. I can't wait to get MORE of the New York group to join us. Have a good week. PB&J

I learned I need to slow down a little so people can enjoy the sights a bit more.( Damn 1st.gen, just goes too fast). We missed a few member we would have like to have had here but maybe next time guys and gals. PB&J.Phil.
