Hey Squid there's a rattley little echo In Michigan where you used to have been.
  3. Well it took a few days of drilling, filing and sanding but the radio is in. I mounted it above the CLASS system where the original would have been but had to modify the cover and the interior box. I bought an inexpensive Midland unit that measures 4 1/2 in. wide by 1 3/4in. high. After cutting it slipped right in. Unfortunately the cover cracked right at the thinnest point in the bottom left hand corner. But I used a thin sheet of Aluminum to reinforce the corner buy gluing it into the corner and using the chrome pull bar to hold it in place. Radios powered up and the antenna wire is in and the mounting is all done. Now I'm waiting on the antenna and the guy at the CB shop will use the SWR meter to adjust it for me. Unfortunately I still am not sure how to run the CB through the radio 's speakers. I'm still hoping someone might be able to comment but if not, I'm hoping my CB guy will figure it out.
  4. WOW that had to really have been something!
  5. Brad and Lonna Let me add my good wishes to you both inyour new adventure. Though we've never met you'll always have a special connection to me. After all you did give me my name. Brad you're a luck man to have such good friends that have given you a treasure of their Father and Husband. It would be an honor that would humble me. Lonna I hope that after you both are all settled in we'll hear from you both more regularly. Good luck in the new life. PB&J.
  6. Okay here's one i've never heard here before. Since I've had my 85 there has been an intermittent noise like a bad bearing somewhere in the front end. I finally located the noise as coming from my speedometer. It happens most on cold mornings and is high pitched and at times so loud it leaves my ears ringing when if finally stops. It used to stop after i got below 15 mph. Now it will continue until the bike is fully stopped. It will stop after a few miles and then only periodically return while riding before stopping all togther. I pulled the speedometer cable and oiled and greased it . I checked the ends for wear but there is none. So its not the cable it has to be in the speedo itself. What the heck could it be and is there some way to fix it without having to replace the speedo all together? Its so loud that my son could hear it while riding beside me as we rode through town. Help!
  7. Great pictures but only made Rawhide and me fell worst for not making it there to be with our friends. Tell Deb that her new bike looks great, just like her old one. Gee why didn't she ride the Suzuki ??? LOL! Missed you all PB&J:crying:

  10. I bought a Midland Cb to go in my 85. I'm not overly electrical Hooking up the power will be no problem . Cutting the panel and fitting the radio in shouldn't be hard either. I also have a guy at a local cb shop that will help me install the antenna and set it up an swr meter. What I'm not sure about is can I connect the cb to my radio speakers to hear through them? pa system on the radio. That way I don't have to rely on the mike speaker? or should I just spring for a helmet speaker mike system? If anyone can help with this I'd appreciate it. I;ve never had a CB on a bike before but now that I travel more with members with a radio I'd like to get into it. Any help out there?
  11. Hey Tom we'll be picking up Rawhides fleece jacket this weekend. She loved how it looked in the pix and she can't wait to get her hand on it. thanks again.
  12. Usually is 40 -45 degrees in the fall when i stop riding and then in the spring its not until the first good rain to wash all the salt off the roads. all my bikes are over 20 years old and all in great shape. I consider that because of my not riding too early in the spring.
  13. Earl you are absolutely amazing! That is awesome to behold. So when are you building Cecdoo his clock LOL!
  14. Hey Bob congratulations,. on twenty great years, Becky and you both are pretty luck. And Tom, I ALWAYS say nice things about Joanna!!! Phil: Who will going to Boomers funeral after his old lady reads his last post here

  16. my daughter won't let me sell my old rig because she hopes grandpa will take her kids out in it. That is when she has grandkids .
  17. Darksiders are people that used car tires on their bikes. usually on the rear because they are cheaper and get better mileage. But there is controversy because of the techiques needed to mount the tire (Over inflation to set the bead) and the fact the car tire profile makes handling different in turns. Some people get quite emotional about the whole thing. its purely preference though.
  18. I can honestly say I've had More Harley guys wave back then ever give me a problem As far as i'm concerned there 75% good guys in general..... But there was this one incident, I was working second shift coming home at midnight. I was leaving the city on the expressway went a Superglide went flying by me like a bat out of hell. Just for fun I cranked it open and in less than 2 miles was up on him and slid past. I left off a little and it was obvious this guy had pinned the throttle to the stops. and as chugged by my at full steam . i let him get at least 5 or 6 lengths ahead then I reeled him in again. This poor guy thought he was riding a sport bike or something because bent down into the wind to give it all he had as he pulled up along side he shoots me the one finger salute. It truly struck me as funny and i started laughing in my helmet. Then I gave him the thumbs up sign. and slowly pulled ahead. He let go of the throttle and dropped behind me like a stone. I think his not being able to pi$$ me off was worst than blowing by twice.
