Thanks for the heads up Tom but this weekend I'm actually working . Its the first time in three weeks and I was requested for the job by the customer and that means a 10% increase in my pay. I can't turn it down especially with Christmas coming up. man this is frustrating. Too much to do a wealth of friends and family and things to do. Keep me in the loop Tom. Maybe I'll just have to have you guys come out here and spend the night.

Is that the 1st gen Venture was actually split into two bikes . the laid back harleyesque 2nd Gen and the sporty FJR1300. The second gen still uses the tried and true V4. and as many have already pointed out the V-Max sales i doubt will justify the development of a whole new engine with out other platforms to put it in. Yamaha may just drop the model for a year or two to see which way the styling is going. BUT, we are seeing a resurgance of the sport tourer and as others have pointed out a focus toward younger riders, many of whom have come off sport bikes and not quite ready for a full boat tourer, wanting handling with their tourer like the 1st gen used to afford. That could make the FJR a possible candidate for the new "Venture" in 2011 something with a permanent trunk, stereo etc, etc. Truth be told Yamaha has a wealth of choices in the new Venture with two very strong power plants to chose from. The V-Max engine is the logical choice (To all of us anyway). But to new buyers it may not make any difference. Oddly Honda is bringing back the 90 degree V4 in a 1200 size this year which makes me wonder if a 2011 Venture might return to a more 1st gen(BMW) styling ( I wish,i wish). We'll just have to wait and see.

Hey Earl, I'm so sorry to hear about the sale of the bikes. At least you still have the gray VR' right? As a honda V4 owner i know how hard it was to sell that Magna. but a family has to eat and you can only ride one bike....at a time anyway. Hopefully something will come along very soon. We're all think about you guys and wishing you all the best. Henri says Hi. Phil.

A few years back took a tour around lake Ontario, In Canada there were three ferries we had to take all open deck. The first no problem but the second there were several other riders there when we were all allowed to load the ex and I rode in first. the others all waited behind and came on last. We couldn't understand why until the boat got underway. Though the water wasn't rough wave were splashing up over the bow and our bikes ( and luggage) got a bath before we pulled them off and got them inside. I swear the other riders knew but chose not to warn us. sneeky!

Love the new paint job on the bike and chair. Is that a Velorex chair? what model is it? it looks like an older 562 but the seat back is high like my 700 model.

the bikes got a radio and intercom with the wiring . I wasn't inclined to use it because rawhide is deaf and can't hear it anyway. we communicate by talking into the left mirror. But now that I have the CB I hope to get a head set that will allow me to hear it . The guy installing my antenna took out the radio to try and figure out how to connect the CB to it but he wasn't sure at first glance. Thats why I was wondering if anyone had dropped in an aftermarket Cb and hooked it in. the radio does a pretty good job of sending out the music I thought they'd get the Cb out semi clearly. So thats where I stand, no helmet mic and headset yet but if thats the only way to go that thats how i'll hook it up. I probably could use a mic wire if anyone has another to spare.

Hey Squid there's a rattley little echo In Michigan where you used to have been.

Well it took a few days of drilling, filing and sanding but the radio is in. I mounted it above the CLASS system where the original would have been but had to modify the cover and the interior box. I bought an inexpensive Midland unit that measures 4 1/2 in. wide by 1 3/4in. high. After cutting it slipped right in. Unfortunately the cover cracked right at the thinnest point in the bottom left hand corner. But I used a thin sheet of Aluminum to reinforce the corner buy gluing it into the corner and using the chrome pull bar to hold it in place. Radios powered up and the antenna wire is in and the mounting is all done. Now I'm waiting on the antenna and the guy at the CB shop will use the SWR meter to adjust it for me. Unfortunately I still am not sure how to run the CB through the radio 's speakers. I'm still hoping someone might be able to comment but if not, I'm hoping my CB guy will figure it out.
