  1. Oh Margaret a fellow Mustang Lover. I knew there was more to you that I liked besides just being a venture rider!
  2. Cook up some chicken thighs or breasts on a Sunday and have a piece in the more for breakfast. The protein in the chicken takes the body longer to digest and staying in the stomach loner. There for you don't get hungry as soon. Also apples with protein help digestion and the better up take of nutrients
  3. just got back from taking Rawhide to a beautiful Italian Buffet at Mario's in Rocheter NY. Yum!
  4. Hey Eusa1 I had been wanting to know the same thing about my 85 first gen that I bought in Michigan. I made a post about it a year ago but never got any responses . The bike was set up to pull a trailer and had been to the east coast at least once but I've never been able to find out if the previous owner was another member here on the site. Any chance you can help me with any info on my bike?
  5. Well Tom looks like "Hig4s" is the guy to go to for basset info.Sound like he may have had one or two. Our Jake was a real character and needed a little training because the previous owner never disciplined him. But he responded quickly and was a good dog.
  6. Thanks Squid you are the best . I can't wait to meet you and Lonna. Tom shes a real cutie you guys may have a hard time prying here out of my arms. I had Lab's for years. Haven't had a dog in about 4 years now the last one that I left with the ex was a beagle basset mix named Jake.
  7. Thanks Tom you have us both blushing over here. And its really no big deal. For everyone wondering, Big Tom and Taters lost their beloved Beagle last year. They've decided to get a Basset puppy this year and the breeder they chose lives within 30 miles of us. So we volunteered to meet the breeder in a town near by and bring it home to them. So we're making arrangements with the breeder for next Friday the 19th to pick up the new family member and head west to Alden and his /her new home. By the way is it a boy or a girl? Again glad to help two such good friends. How could we have said no? Phil& Joanna.
  8. Man that's pretty . If there is anyone into Blue first gen's theres the bike for them.

    Annie's Land

Wow Annie you don't know how much a lot of Us would love to come down and visit. the problem is its hard to keep the bikes afloat over so much water?LOL! Whats it cost to rent a bike down there?
  12. Well it described the Royal Star 1600 but we all know that ain't no Venture. And it didn't mention any of the Venture spec. Probably figured it would make them both seem more Harley like. Or maybe they just had limited space.
  13. Remember time a patience heals all. We'll continue to keep you both in our prayers.
  14. there you go Bob. I was waiting for somebody to say it!
  15. Hey Steve please don't feel I was putting you down . That wasn't my intent. I enjoyed the humor of it but it seemed like people were getting truly serious about it and it seemed a little sad that no other ideas were coming up. I'm working on the last four pages of illustrations on a story about childhood Leukemia to teach kids about their disease, but I'll try to squeeze out a rough sketch and the pocket patch as well and post it.
  16. Mr. Potato head,? and Pair of scissors,? and a quarter ? How about a picture of a pair of Ventures first and second gen sweeping through a corner in full lean superimpiosed over the state of indiana??? I think that might be nicer. One of the bikes could be trailing a flag with the rally name and Number on it. On the front pocket we could have an identical picture of the flag with name and rally number.
  17. Hey Randy I just installed progressives this year and i cut the spacers in half. Of course my old springs were completely shot so it did raise my bike a bit. But I weigh 240 and with Rawhide on the back it still bottoms occasionally on really big pot holes. But only on the really big ones and fully loaded. Depending on your weight you shouldn't have any trouble and at half a spacer the rise should not be that great. Sorry I can't give you an actually before and after measurement. I never thought to measure the forks before i put in the springs. Phil.
  18. Hey Guy welcome to the 85 owners bunch . Like friesman said the removable top box and bags are a nice thing to have. Thats exactly why I picked mine. Ours is the bike I believe the new FJR was meant to replicate. I picked mine up 2 years ago this coming March and only paid $1800. She was in a little rougher shape that yours but a little sanding of the engine cases, new fork seals and a lot of cleaning and polishing and she turned into a real beauty check out her picture in my album. Of course the Brown and Golds are the prettiest and the fastest. Good choice! PB&J
  19. Doh ! That's right I forgot:doh:
  20. Man ya gotta live in Iceland to get an invite over. Sheeesh!
  21. Project Fun car an, 83 Ford Mustang GT Turbo, Everyday driver, 95 Ford Crown Victoria. Then there's my 80 Yamaha XS1100 sidecar rig. ( Does that count at a "car") Rawhide drives a Hyundia Sonata
  22. This is the first year i've had the Venture in my own garage. Stored at a friends last year. I was late in treating it as i normally do for winter storage. I usually load the tank top it off with Stabilzer, or Seafoam run it down into the carbs for ten minutes then pull the batteries and put them to bed till march or April. This year it took me alsmost twenty minutes or longer with work light heating the oil [pan of my Honda to get it running. But the Venture only took two or three stabs at the starter button and she started right up. I was impressed! Can't wait for Spring.
  23. Hey Squid if you didn't want people giving you stuff then you should't go around being such a generous, helpful, unselfish, giving, caring Loving, self sacrificing, heartwarming, hardworking individual! Its no ones fault but your own. So take your loving lumps from the rest of us and remember whose to blame for all the love and caring and kindness coming your way! Remember what goes around comes around my friend and believe me you deserve it !
  24. Hey Annie I'm sure its obvious that with so many responses you've touched a lot of hearts here. You have always brought a smile with your comments and warm good humor. Let me had my small prayer to the many others here. We miss your light heart and good fun. Hurry back soon PB&J
